Oh I've been around mostly building this and trying to make some other things... I'll be posting some more shots after it's all together and I can get the kinda shots I'm lookin for. Nice to hear from you. Oh btw where can I order some of those graduated plastic bottles for mixing paint you sent me? I need some more. I've used them allot and they are worn out. Cheers, Larry.

Here is a couple from a loooooong time ago. And here is the Model I did of it, 1986 I think... One of my favorite F-5E schemes... Happy 4th of July! Larry McCarley 21045

Sounds Great Harold. Thanks for considering it at least. What wings would you make it for don't know what kit has the correct one for it. Does the ProModeler F-86D have the right 6:3 wing sans the 12" tip? The Ginter book is Fabulous I just received it and have been looking at what it would take to do the fuselage myself. I have to make one for my Brother some day too as Joseph McConnell died on his birthday... He always tells me about that anyway... Don't know how I could help but if I can let me know! Cheers, Larry McCarley 21045

I echo the NEED for a 1/48th conversion as well! And what would that entail an entire fuselage to make it work right, even in 1/32nd right? China Lake had a bunch as FSAT drones that I need to do... One with the GORJE test phase is number one!!! Cheers, Larry McCarley 21045

New Fightertown Sheets Released
Incaroad replied to Brian P: Fightertown Decals's topic in Jet Modeling
Who wants to trade an F-14A for an F-14D? And Brian did you take a look at the email I sent you for the dark blue background with the yellow writings on it? Like those Tomcat decals allot! VX-9 aficionado. Larry McCarley 21045 -
Are you talkin about this one? If so, when I looked under it, it didn't have any numbers under the flaps... But others will know more. Cheers, Larry McCarley 21045

I guess I don't understand the need for putty in that area either. This is the first one I've built and after correcting all the errors on the Revell kit this one is a dream to assemble. The only place I have needed "filler" on the one I'm building is around all the gear doors after I glued em shut. The kit went together well but I had a hard time making up my mind how I wanted to assemble it. I opted to put the wings on last so I could get everything else secured and sealed...don't want any stray crap inside the cockpit after sealing the canopy up... Anywho here is a photo of where I'm at

Any of you fella's have any good side views of Tactical GBU-16's and GBU-31's or a good site that has some shots? Gotta hang some on an F/A-18E... I've tried googling but I don't see good enough shots. Thanks Larry McCarley 21045

Aires F/A-18E cockpit for revell (1-48, of course.)
Incaroad replied to caudleryan's topic in Jet Modeling
Allot of people like the Aires Cockpit for the Hasegawa kit and I'm sure the pit for the Revell kit is basically the same. I found a few things I didn't like that compeled me to build my own for the Revell F/A-18E. According to some pilots I've talked to it really matters what day so to speak the particular aircraft you are building is done as the right side consoles are changed for the mission they will perform. Here is a shot of the Cockpit I scratch built for the VX-9 XE100 I'm in the middle of right now. Hope that helps a little... Larry McCarley 21045 -
Your welcome Ryan no problem at all. I would say pay close attention to your water traps and see how much collects, you may not get any but then again...you may get lots, so hopefully the two moisture traps will catch it all and you won't have any problems. If you start collecting some though you may want to redesign it to eliminate all that you can. Good luck with the new room and building! Cheers, Larry McCarley 21045

I went on line and found out that the system I currently use is still in production and can get new elements and a new Acrylic sight tube as well. Here is what there website said about their desicant bags: "The standard desiccant will solve most filtration problems. It is a stabilized crystal that provides excellent filtration of hydrocarbons and moisture. It has the uncanny ability to adsorb oil and moisture at the same time. At full flow rate, it traps all contaminants — oil vapors, water and hydrocarbons. The filter disc in the top of the element removes particulate as small as 0.3 micron

Sorry... If'n I'd known before I'd a tollya about that site then... I learnt the hard way here in DRY China Lake with PVC pipe as a conduit for air. It wasn't long before I had water spitting out of my Airbrush and everything else that I ran from my Aircompressor. Oh well better late than never so they say... If you're only using it for your Airbrush it may take longer to accumulate as I used mine for everything including running Airtools to work on automobiles and who knows whatelse... Good luck with your room it looks like a dandy! Cheers, Larry McCarley 21045

Schedule 40 PVC will take much more than 35psi but pressure isn't the concern... You are concerned with moisture accumulation. If you are plumbing your room use "Black Pipe" and follow the rules set down by those that paint for a living. If you're in Florida you're gonna need all the help you can get with moisture elimination! Go to this website and you can see how it should be done. http://www.tptools.com/StaticText/airline-piping-diagram.pdf This methode works GREAT and takes as much moisture out as possible!!! Hope this helps Cheers. Larry McCarley 21045

I tried to get to NAF to see the mishap but couldn't get away... No injuries that is true. Hopefully there will be some shots circulating so I can take a gander. Cheers, Larry.

I have to agree the kit decals looked strange to me as well but I did use the Shark mouth, eye's and numbers for this one. Tail markings though were painted on, most of the data was from a Micro Scale sheet. A good friend of mine helped me make the Pilot's names... I wish he was here as well... Cheers, Larry.

Weathering is okay but I much prefer clean aircraft. Okay the first pics were taken about a year ago and "Brown out had taken over some of the decals...they didn't look like that at the Nats in 1989 I assure you... That's about all I have on Photobucket. Hope you like what you see. I'd love to be able to see it again... Cheers, Larry McCarley 21045

I'm with you Juan, I like the regular strips as well. Here is a shot of the Taill of the Cag bird in 88 I think. And here is the model I made in 1989 for the nats. Long gone to my X in the divorce if you can believe that...Shot was after she had her hands on it and before I had to give it up as per the instructions from the judge. Hasegawa 1/48th, tail markings painted on. Cheers, Larry McCarley 21045

What do you guys think of slightly silvered decals?
Incaroad replied to chuck540z3's topic in Jet Modeling
Thanks for the plug Curt. This has worked for me on several occasions when I thought; oh great I'll have to remove the decal and try again. What is really nice is it worked on a not so perfect application of gloss to the model. Give it a try... Cheers, Larry. -
That photo was taken at China Lake a few years ago after it was repainted. Here it sits at the China Lake Museum a couple years ago. It has since been moved in front of the musuem. Cheers, Larry.

Not with a cockpit but I have some GRU-7's that are twisted big time! Looks like they past out due to to many G's , I've been told by many it's a common problem and can be fixed with warm water but details will be lost... Also been told to send them back to BB and they'll be HAPPY to exchange it. Haven't tried sending them back but it's probably worth a try. Cheers, Larry.
