  1. Hi folks. Just wondering if anyone knows the correct angle of the Vertical Sabilizers on the F/A-18E/F. The Revell instructions don't say but there is a drawing that shows them at about 72 degrees but I'm not sure that is correct. Anyone know the actual angle these are canted at? Thanks Larry.
  2. Miramar, 87-88 I can't recall... My house this year of a Haswgawa 1/48th F-14A I built in 1989. Cheers, Larry.
  3. Leave m off Looks good without m... Cheers, Larry
  4. You may want to contact Dave Roof at Orion Models and see if he's doing these F/A-18 legacy sheets in 1/72nd scale. Looks like just what you need but these are in 1/48th scale. Hope that helps a little anyway... Cheers, Larry.
  5. Mr. Storm. I bought the set (I have no Idea what I paid) to use as a guide for the Revell F/A-18E. I checked them against the Hasegawa model and the Revell unit and while they will fit they looked to short to me as well. So while it is a nice set it's only going to be used as a guide while I rebuild Revell's poor attempt at F/A-18E/F wheel wells. I'm about 2/3rds finished with the bulkheads and so far they have been really useful for that as I've yet to find enough views of the wheel wells to just use pictures to duplicate. $30.00 sounds reasonable to me. I may use them in the Hasegawa kit b
  6. You'all have came up with some really good ideas... So far I've tried them all, without paint of course but I'm thinking these might be what I'm lookin for fer sure! I even have some foam earplugs, a foam eraser and shoot I've got all kinds of masking tape. I just found another idea; a Technical eraser would leave a really sharp edge!!! So I think I can move forward but hey if anyone else has a good idea about how to do this let me and everyone else know!!! Thanks to all of you for your help. Cheers, Larry.
  7. Well SebastianP, I have to admit I didn't really think of brushing so I got out something to practice on and while it did work to a degree (not as sharp a demarcation line as I want) I need a brush with angled bristles on it to do what I need to do, so NOW I have to get to an art supply store and find one of those... I also noted that if the bistles aren't straight as a lazer beam it might not be as straight as it needs to be, but worth a try anyway! Thanks Sepastian for the suggestion! Hi there Ryan! Yep I thought about decals as well and it is a thought but if I can make templates out o
  8. Everyone has seen the Intakes of the Super Hornet and how they are painted. And I'm sure everyone has seen what a magnifinent job Cunting Edge did on their full length examples! Well I need to paint them like Boeing does and I can't for the life of me figure out a precise way to accomplish it. If I scew up I'll have to strip them and I don't know how fragile the resin is. As far as I know I've never seen anyone here try to paint these, correct me if I'm wrong and please point me in the direction of the post! I've got a few ideas but putting covers over them is not one of em... Idea's: 1.
  9. Check out what Cyrus Tan's F/A-18A he did and showed at the Nats looks like... http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....mp;hl=Cyrus+Tan Nothing wrong with using A Monogram Legacy Hornet Kit, it builds into a good representation of a Hornet. Good luck Cheers, Larry.
  10. ESCI made a set and I think they are Cartograph... I just looked and by golly they are Cartograph. Still look pretty good but I don't have a clue how accurate. One could use them as a template to PAINT the markings on though! Maybe someone has a set they might wanna part with, for a price or not. Cheers, Larry.
  11. Roger that Brian, but I need you to hurry cause I need it for this cockpit!!! After opening the Decal sheet I can see why everyone likes them so much. Artwork is fantastic!!! Great Job! Cheers, Larry.
  12. Just thought I'd pass on what great service Fightertown Decals does. I saw that the VX-9 Decals were running out and thought I'd try them out. I ordered them Sunday and they arrived here at China Lake today. Impressive shipping time and I haven't even opened them up to look at them... Thanks Brian and hope to do business again sometime. Have one request though. Could you make the White on Yellow with black pinstrip warning placards as decals for the F/A-18E/F cockpit. You know the ones I'm talkin about don't you? The Spin recovery section of the instrument panel and the ECM panel of the cent
  13. Thanks Ken I appreciate the help. I will be putting at least 3 barrels back there in case you can see more than one through the front. I'm using .025 xtra thin wall Hypo tubing to simulate the barrels, like I've done on on this Tomcat. Don't know yet if you can see it but it's worth putting it in there anyway Just wanted to know how far back they might be. Can't see any from all the pictures I've accumulated and viewed on the net... Cheers, Larry.
  14. Wow thanks Ken, I thought I'd never get a resonse! Yes to all you are saying and yes I'd like to see the barrels of the gun to know distance back from the muzzle. I've looked at every book I have and can't for the life of me see the barrels. Still looking Cheers, Larry.
  15. Looking for a clear picture of what the muzzle looks like and the gas vents on the side... Thanks for any and all help Cheers, Larry.
  16. Check out Hobby decals dry transfers http://www.hobbydecal.com/category.cgi?cat...ils/MODERN/l:32 They are gorgeous! Cheers, Larry.
  17. Does anyone have a good shot of what the wall behind the Seat in the F/A-18E looks like without the seat or with the seat but on each side? I've seen the shots in the Detail and Scale book and a few others on line and they are good but not enough of what's there. Man a DACO book would sure be good right now!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Larry
  18. Here are some rather dismal shots of Vandy 1 taken in 1985, and 1987. Point Mugu is a nasty place to take pictures in the am and if you don't know what you're doing in the first place then this is what you get. Anywho I know the shots suck but they are of Vandy 1 in FLAT BLACK fer sure. I wrote the BuNu down somewhere but can't find them so I can't confirm or deny. The strips for the 85 bird only have what looks like 1 star started on each outboard stabilzer... Kinda different. Anywho I hope this helps someone. 1985 1987 Cheers, Larry.
  19. Well Ryan I guess it's a bit late but here is what I found here at the Lake... Lots a color in these here shots! LOL!!! F-4S Phantom II BuNu 157290 Won't be here much longer... What it looked like in 1976!!! Cheers, Larry.
  20. These doors or are they farther aft? Cheers, Larry.
  21. At the largest diameter the Aires parts are .025 smaller than the Hasegawa parts. If one wished to sand the circumference of the Hasegawa Fuselage down then YES they might fit. If you don't wanna sand the crap out of the fuselage then yes they would fit but with a .013 lip all the way round. On the real aircraft that would be .600 or 15.25mm. The attachment to the Revell is different but if you cut away the Turkey feathers and just used the portion that attaches to the kit it might fit better. But, if ones not concerned with how accurate they are... Cheers, Larry
  22. It are a Block IV Tomahawk launched by San Clemente Island. Simulated sub launch. It does look different form a block III missile. Cheers, Larry
  23. PMTC test aircraft early 80's. No clean up on the scan sorry. Vandy 1 on the range at China Lake. VX-30 escorting a T-Hawk to China Lake. Lookin for more. Cheers, Larry
  24. Yep! Microscale 48-312... You didn't specify what scale, I'm sure they made 1/72 as well. There old and original but they still look good. You want them, I will never use them send me an email at bigpapatootie@verizon.net Cheers, Larry.
  25. Aires makes open and closed nozzles.
