I'm trying to come up with some information on the Super Hornets engine AB section from the Turbine blades/ flame holder to the end of the Turkey feathers so I can make new ones for my Revell F/A-18E. I've googled and searched for good illustrations or tech manuals to use to scale from and came up with some good stuff but not enough to do what I'm trying to do. I've looked at Prime Portal at the GREAT shots they have but there so compressed it's hard to get an idea how close the flame holder is from the end of the engine. I'm thinking it has to be close to the pivot shaft of the stabilators

The Revell F/A-18E/F is a good kit for the money and they look like Super Hornets, however they have a bunch of problems. If you want a really good article to let you know just how many problems it has then go here and take a look. http://www.carrierbuilders.net/gallery/200...8E_Part_III.htm After you look this article over then make your decision based on what you are looking for. I'm building this same kit right now and I'm going a few more steps to correct what I've found to be very wrong with this kit. 1. The shape of the spine towards the back end 2. The bottom between the MLG wells i

Anyone have the instructions for the CE Super Hornet intakes?
Incaroad replied to strikeeagle801's topic in Jet Modeling
Actually you need to remove the bottom of the the kit part numbers-12 and 13 and the CE part will make up the piece that you just cut off. Like this Hope that helps. Cheers, Larry. -
Do we like that... Are you kidding? The first look at (warp speed) and I see that shroud around that 30mm gun and you ask if we like it... What are ya using for the plumbing around those Landing gear? When I did my Tomcat I strung just a few lengths of .010 Solder through all the clamps and connections and it look as though I had 20 or so pieces but there were only a few... Took some time to figure out what or how they went but in the end it looked pretty darned good. As yours do... My oh my... Good stuff here. Man that's as nice as I've seen! Scribing is probably second to none and the d

I understand completely, there are allot of decals! Looks great, what did you paint the black with. When I did mine I used some black called Wet Paint, by Illinois Bronze and I gotta tell ya some kinda great enamel that was. I think I still have some left someplace I hope it's still good. Top coat was Advanced ( I think) Full Matte and it was really dead flat, but it would turn everything yellow. Nice job on yours Cheers, Larry.

Wow that sucks as those saws are worth the wait. Any friends where you live that could honor an address to use... Hell you could use mine and I'd send them to your APO. When I ordered all that I have now (when the back orders were receiver in Japan) it only took a week to get to me... Pretty fast from there I would think. Oh well, Just a thought. Cheers, Larry.

Of course I'm not Cyrus but take a look at this site for the rivet gauge's he's talking about http://www.hlj.com/hljlist2/?Dis=-2&fr...rd=Rivet%20tool Then go here to see a scribing template set http://www.hlj.com/product/HSGTP-1 Then search around a bit more to find the rest. Currently the scibing templates are on back order. While you're at it take a look at the etching saws they are an absolute must have for scribing as well. Hope this helps Cheers, Larry.

The part of this build I was most pleased with and haven't observed anyone else do like I did it... , was this part I was able to see up close and personal this part and tried as best I could to duplicate it on this Monogram kit. I think I did pretty well actually. Thanks for the commets Raptor supporter. If you want a copy of all the shots from Point Mugu send me a PM with an address and I'll do a copy up and send them your way... Cheers, Larry.

Yes they are, but back then weren't they called Bare Metal decals! I can't know. LOL! Thanks for the kind words. I wish now, I could get right in the middle of a build and go from start to finish like I did with these two... Times have changed, haven't they. Thanks too Raptor Supporter, appreciate the kind words! Did those shots I sent you of the F-22 look good for ya? Cheers, Larry.

WHA HAPPEN??? Not enough pre-orders to get r done? I was so looking forward to being able to get me hands on one. Cheers, Larry.

A wondeful kit. Didn't notice any large gaps anywhere, however I built it long ago when it first hit the shelves as a Monogram kit. Just can't say it's a Revell kit. Much like Convair isn't Genral Dynamics isn't Lockheed Martin, or McDonnel Douglas isn't Boeing. Here is a shot of my 20+ year old build. Lots of brown out but it still looks okay. Cheers, Larry.

I work on the ranges at China Lake and have tracked, with an M-45 and KTM Tracking mount the Bloodhounds bringing BGM 109s here from the water and I love to see them. I think that you've got a real winner here. Heres one on it's way to China Lake!!! So you order via email or do you have a web site. VX-5 was my favorite though. XE with the arrow thru the E was the way it should have stayed. Cheers, Larry.

Thanks Rapter Supporter! Between a friend of mine and me we took a bunch of photo's, like over a 1000 some good, some not so good but I'm messin with m to try and get something worth looking at. I tell ya I've never seen so many L len's in my life. This is one I've been messin with and it's looking pretty good. And this one... The contrast is remarkable with the haze that was at Point Mugu... Hope you enjoy these... Cheers, Larry.

Looks nice however as another has said... These cockpits are realitively clean... Like this... Isn't the contrast between the Throttle and the consoles nice? Cheers, Larry.

couple of shots I got at Point Mugu on Sunday... F/A-18F's were downed at China Lake for some problem, might be why the two F/A-18F's that sat all by themselves didn't fly ! And not one E/F on static display I didn't get that one. I really wanted to get some good shots of the Front cockpit side panels to verify some other stuff I've got on the Super Hornet. Cheers, Larry.

Hey, that SR is absolutely amazing! I was born at Beale AFB where those flew from. Our family never had a wall clock while we lived there- the sonic booms kept knocking them off the walls! I was wondering, where did you get the pattern for all the red covers for that? I think I'm going to go to Wal-Mart and get the Monogram 1/72 kit and do the same thing. Well Chriss, Let me show ya somethin!!! HAHAHAH. Actually it's gonna take me some time to show you where I came up with the patterns. I was fortunate enough to see the SR-71 at Edwards on static display in the 80's danged if I know the exa

This is a model my ex-wife bought for me back around 1999 Funny how X wives have a tendancy to screw up what was once near and dear to ya... I'm glad you are finally taking a stab at the SR-71. It ain't that bad... I built this in oh 1986 I think and then it took a turn for the worse when My X decided to let people handle it and break stuff off it until I got it back. My F-14A wasn't so lucky as she got that in the divorce... This shot is of the dust magnet. One day I think I might fix it... As it stands a reminder... My favorite... The F-14A Toncat... I loved this model. 1989 winner at

I'm hoping to go and get some good shots of the Cockpit of a F/A-18E/F sounds like the weather will be gorgeous. I'm coming from China Lake as they don't have Airshows anymore for some frikin reason... If I don't get there take some shots of that Cockpit for me huh? Cheers, Larry.

Here is another picture that ya don't see everyday... Nice how they pack all that stuff in there. Cheers, Larry.

Having seen them first hand as well, not only at the museum, I Couldn't agree more with your statement, and that is what I was trying to say. Cheers, Larry.

I finally had a chance to take a close up shot of an AIM-9M from the China Lake Museum. The photo shows a Gray/Green hue to the body and as you should be able to tell it is a hard anodized finish not a paint. The photo also reveals, at least to me that there are many variations on this anodizing process and as one man told me that worked Sidewinder here, "there was no standard shade and it could look many different shades of gray/green from dark to light, greener and grayer." So you be the judge and look at the histogram and see what it tells you. If anyone wants a full size photo let me know.

Fantastic Mike. So what Bang seat you talkin about? The kit seat leads a little to be desired and wouldn't mind getting a replacement so I don't have to make one from Scratch... You are don't a great job on this one! Cheers, Larry.

Thanks Moritz! Glad you like what you see... It's been a trying build so far cause I can't make up my mind what to do next! To many details I want to add that I don't know what they look like. Cheers, Larry.

Thanks SU-34! I appreciate that. Cheers, Larry.
