Like I said , all four cats in use, launch operations. I was planning to have one F-14 "in the shot" and another waiting strapped on the cat as scenario for both bow catapults. Some more aircraft waiting for launch behind the deflectors. And an E-2C waiting for launch at the catapult "in the middle" (don´t know what number that is) and an EA-6B rolling to the catapult, just crossing over the closed deflector (the most port-side catapult). HAJO

I need some input for my current build. I´m working on Trumpeters "Theodore Roosevelt" in 1/700 scale. I do have a lot of aircraft, since the kit came with 16x F-14s, 4x EA-6Bs, 4x S-3s, 2x E-2Cs and 2 SH-60s. And I added 12x F/A-18s, 12x A-6Es and 4x HH-60s. Now my question is: Are there certain parking areas on board the deck where specific aircraft "usually" sit? I remember reading that E-2Cs and helos are usually located near the island. But are there some more "rules" how to place aircraft that are not in current prepation for launch? I´m not planning to put all the above mentionend

As HeavyArty said... Rent the video or better DVD and watch the whole scene in slowmotion. I did so some years ago and can tell you that if you use the "frame by frame"-mode you will discover strange things. Like a B206 among all the Hueys and Loaches or the different "loadouts" of the "Death From Above" (different surfboard attachement)... Anyway, here´s the result of my research then: I used Italeri´s UH-1D in 1/72 scale. HAJO

Thanks a lot! I won´t be able to simulate the smaller details on the model, as it will be part of a 1/700 scale carrier air wing, but I will do it in high-viz. HAJO

I recently saw a model on the ARC frontpage where the builder explained that the KA-6Ds kept the high-viz markings to make them easier to spot for their "customers"; while other A-6s went to low-viz markings. Can someone confirm that? HAJO

Hellers kit is a bit bigger, they differ in size. Revell has excellent fitting (better than Heller), but Heller has the advantage of individual doors, so you can chose to build them open or closed. HAJO

Looking cool! Why isn´t the cabin door open? Would be cool to have someone peeping out and looking for a swimming survivor. HAJO

My problem with the tanks still remains, but I noticed something strange...: Does the F-105 had two air-refueling stations, one for drogue and one for probe? Interesting design... HAJO

Can anybody help me out with some details about the decal placement for the tanks and missiles of this kit? The instructions only include the placement on the aircraft, but nada on the loads... Thanks! HAJO

Search the forums, somewhere my CSAR WIF NH-90 should turn up. I found it a very nice model to build, only disadvantage is the non-existing detail of the ramp... But otherwise the model is fine! HAJO

A single drop-tank on one side and a torpedo on the other suits fine, I think. Have a look at the sometimes asymmetric loads of SH/HH-60s with only one tank on one side or even two one one side (vUSCG Jayhawks). HAJO

I wouldn´t use torpedoes, as the Tiger doesn´t have any equipment to detect and locate submarines. Better use him in a naval strike role with some sort of missiles. HAJO

Good model, although you made the same mistake as I did (I´m still a bit angry on myself about this): You mounted the engine front plates upside down! The oil-cooler intakes are ABOVE the prop and not underneath... HAJO

It´s finished! Diver ready to get wet: Lots of armament all over the helo: And the other side of the helo: Gunner watching out for any unpleasant surprise: Definetely a neat kit, can recommend it to anyone! HAJO

It´s finished! I used some original decals from the kit as well as some "borrowed" from my F-105G (tail.-no, USAF). As you can see, I armed the Bronco with two Hellfire-missiles on the port side: Front view looking good: And some nose-art for the wing-tank, also the aircraft got a quadruple Stinger-launcher for self defence: Hope you like it! HAJO

But would a crew store those rifles "muzzle-up"? I read somewhere that at least each troop on board a Huey had to keep the muzzle downward to prevent that an accident would shoot out the own engine. HAJO

I built the kit two times and was very satisfied. I only remember that you have to be cautious if you install the sighting systems in the cockpit, as they surely interfere with any crew figure (if you choose to install one). As for the antenna: I just glued the support posts indiviudally, letting each one dry first before I glued the next one. HAJO

Sorry for not updating, but I think that glueing the halves together and adding small antennas and stuff is not that interesting... Here is the bird, already painted and with decals, with a closer look at the gunner-station on the port-side. M-60 comes from Roco Minitanks, ammo-box and spent chute case scratchbuilt by me. HAJO

Uops, I was never planning to sound rude, in fact I wanted to point out that I´m pretty lax when it comes to details and stuff. I love how others are counting rivets, and sometimes I try to do it myself, but most of the times I´m just doing the building to have fun. So, my messge is: The decals look alright to me, others (rivet-counters ) may have their problems with them, but I´m happy with them. They porpably will be a bit thick like many Academy-Decals. HAJO

No, I didn´t built it yet, and I´m not a rivet-counter, so can´t tell if the decals are correct in their size and colour. HAJO
