  1. Great subject! I see these guys flying around all of the time but despite being a pretty important asset you never see them modeled. I will continue to watch with interest!
  2. You have elevated hobby to craft! Amazing job here! Thanks again for showing how you tackled the wash. That is very helpful!
  3. Pretty outstanding job! That weathering is not over the top but looks very much true to the movie falcon!
  4. Your build is really inspiring. The Corsair is an awesome subject because you can do so many different weathering techniques. You are doing them all very well!
  5. Thanks Brian. Your decals are my favorite! It was the high point of the build for sure.
  6. Thanks everyone. I am looking forward to getting this Viper all finished. Not sure whether I will finish the last one right away. I might be viper out but I also hate leaving things unfinished. I will post pics when this NSAWC jet is finished!
  7. Well I finished up my NSAWC bird and I think it is a cut above the last Viper. I am not totally finished. I will be doing a boarding ladder, some RFB tags, a practice sidewinder and an ACM unit. So I need to work on those. The finish is pretty flat which I think is closest to the real thing. Let me know what you think. I can always tweak some more.
  8. That canopy looks awesome! I am really not liking the injector pin marks underneath the canopy on my builds but there is some work that can be done there. Your canopy just shines!
  9. So I tried to follow the paint guide but I was off just a little. I did nail the camo in the middle of the jet where the 'navy' insignia is painted but on the wing... not so much. So I started out with this: But decided it was too far off so I sanded the decal off and did this instead: It was the decal that went oder the wing and it is not 100% accurate but oh well. I think it looks a little bit better. The decals are all on now and next up is the wash. I also finished the ejection seat and I think it is the best Aires seat I have ever done. Many I hate those seat belts! More pi
  10. Just looking fantastic. Your scratch building makes me believe that the Hasegawa is a turd that can be polished to a bright shine!
  11. Totally outstanding! I am really, really impressed! Awesome work!
  12. That is some darn good weathering! For me this is the best part of the entire build process. I love the weathering and fading process. Your Phantom is outstanding. Any metal or primer coat chipping?
  13. Well I finished one. I feel like I used a bit toward the end but I had some bench time without my 2 year old running around so I would say everything in my life is a little rushed right now. I used the yellow chocks to even my wings out so from straight on it looks much better. We had a rare break in the clouds here so I took some outside pictures.
  14. I started poking around for an older MPC Falcon on eBay but if Revell is going to release the Fine Moulds kit I will save my money and eagerly await their Release!
  15. Thanks guys! I have a set inbound!
  16. Its getting closer. I did lose the rescue canopy procedures decal on one side. Not sure where it went. I had to rely on a replacement from a different set and the stenciling is not the same but its the best I could do. But I do need to make something abundantly clear! I am a die hard Denver Broncos fan! I am making this plane because this was Peyton's Super Bowl Win. These days the Colts just give me indigestion! Why doesn't the COANG do a Broncos Plane? One of the Broncos O-Linemen is in the guard for crying out loud!
  17. Wow, that is a great looking diorama set up. Those chains are very well done and I like the armament dudes
  18. Thanks all for the feedback. I will go with the serviced strut excuse! I think that it is a wing attachment issue. I put the gear on the NSAWC jet and we are pretty good to go there. On the next one I will test fit the gear first then glue the wings on and make a jig to keep them level. In the meantime I will use some wheel chalks to push up the wheel just a bit to level it out. Its not perfect but it will help. I got a rare 2-hour span of bench time so I decided to work on the NSAWC camo. Nearly every picture I see shows a very faded pain scheme. I had a factory fresh scheme going on
  19. This is an excellent build! I am following carefully in the hopes of making my Hasegawa Vipers better.
  20. Once again I am need of some help here. I did a Hasegawa F-16 many years ago and was totally annoyed that it clearly leaned to one side. This one is doing the exact same thing! It is about 1/8th an inch lower to the ground on one wing tip than the other! What is the secret?
  21. Here is where I ended up on the wheel bays. The MiG wash is much better with the MiG thinner. I think I botched the NSAWC wheel wells by not coating them with suture before applying the wash. The MiG wash is good but acts like a stain if the surface isn't glossy. I am working on fixing it. More pics when that issue is resolved.
  22. I ordered some MiG thinner. I will respray the wheel well and try again with that. I was puzzled too that it ate through the future. I could try the clear lacquer but wouldn't that dissolve with the thinner? Or is that part of the process?
  23. Okay, so here is an update and a plea for help! My Viper nest has gotten out of hand to be sure so I decided to finish one and make sure that I apply the lessons learned to the rest. You can see what I have on my plate here. I am going to skip the Two seater and just do a single seater F-16 for the brown camo and save the 2 seater for later. I used the MiG wash to try to bring out the good detail in the Aires wells. I used an oil wash over acrylic before but a long time ago. I was doing an Abrams tank and it was awesome! But this time I laid it down and used just regular thinner to t
  24. As soon as it becomes available I will start my Academy F-16. Very excited!
  25. What great news! May her strength return more each day!
