  1. sorry,,,,I thought this thread had "bumped pages into history" so, now that I see it again,,,,,yes Tophat,,,,,this was a cruise as a full attack wing, not a CVS with a detachment of A-4's for protection I will post the wing make up,,,,,,if that is what you are asking for Rex
  2. 1/72 scale Hasegawa tooled F9F-5 and -5P to go with their -2's F9F-6 to go with their -8's and second the FJ-3/3M and new tool FJ-4 idea fun topic Rex
  3. found out what the Intrepid was up in October 1958 In Gareth Pawlowski's "Flat tops and Fledglings" published in 1971 In Intrepid's history section,,,,,he states the following Quote "she returned to the Caribbean in November and joined units of the Second Fleet engaged in LANT-Flex 2-58. A four-day visit to Bridgetown, Barbados, British West Indies, relieved the strain of training. Late in November she was again at Norfolk for holiday leave." so, I just first realized that there were two Lant-Flex's in 1958,,,,,,,,well, we learn something new each day in our look at the CVG/ATG operations
  4. hah, I dashed that off a bit too fast go to that link, then down to Fleet allowances, then click on the group that includes 1958, then choose October 1958,,,,when it downloads,,,,,,,,got to table three (page 16 or 17) VA-106 was assigned to CVG-10 at the time,,,,but the table shows it assigned to the Intrepid (not unusual back then) and would have been carrying the tail code of CVG-6 during it's visit or stay onboard the Intrepid Just part of the fun of finding the squadron's locations during the era when Air Task Groups were in use in the fleet hope this is clearer Rex
  5. that aircraft is pictured on the deck of the Intrepid (air wing six's home at the time) in October 1958 It has a 5xx modex, making the assigned trim green,,,,if the regs were followed at that time this almost has to be either during carquals or some short exersize, as the Intrepid was between cruises the assigned location can be found here,,,,,, http://www.history.navy.mil/branches/org4-25.htm (shows location at the end of the month, in table three and the photo is in Ginter's A-4B USN book hth Rex
  6. thanks Slick, but, you did all right by me, too,,,,,,,,,,I am just glad I found the rest of SRAM's before I shipped to you,,,,,,what would I have done with them later when I found them,,,,,,,,,hang them on an A-4?? glad you like that big beast Rex

  11. now you know why so many join and just lurk,,,,,,if they don't have 1,000 posts,,,,,they aren't welcome to post at all
  12. quote "OOhhh, and my IP address thing isnt correct either..." sheeesh, guys,,,,once it was established by Steve that they DIDN'T have the same IP,,,,,,,how come it keeps being mentioned as if it is a fact? I know you are trying to "just have fun" here,,,,,but,,,,,once that FACT gets put on this thread,,,,,AB is not the one at risk of losing credibility with this. Rex ( just watching the train wreck ) and MY IP had better say something about outside of Nashville,,,,,or there is something really wrong with someone's IP trace program
  13. I have some Testors/Italeri AIM-7F's, AIM-9L's and AIM-120's you can have,,,,,could send you 4 of each, then you can pick the loadout you want from that,,,,,,,,PM me HTH Rex
