  1. Hi team, A friend gave me a couple of his Dad’s old kits and one of them was an unopened Idea 1/72 Tracker. I’m having a lot of fun with it but the propellers are just awful: Generated from my Apple iPhone using tools.sportscard.trade Are there any types which could donate props? Are the Hasegawa S-2 ones actually right? I was going to use a set from my B-26K but they’re rather different. All advice greatly appreciated, and then I’ll be off to the Swap Shop to beg/borrow!
  2. Thanks for the suggestions, gents. It’s for a “Tora! Tora! Tora!” Zero replica. I’ll have to check my references on the subject aircraft and look at the USN types. I don’t at all like the look of “running” engine effects and it would stand out among the rest of my collection. But thank you for being kind enough to make a suggestion.
  3. Thanks Dutch, that’s a very reasonable price! @stevez yours was one of the reviews I read several times! As it happens a friend sent me the original, coloured plastic version of kit and I started it yesterday - I also re-listened to the interview with Jerry Beaulier last night and discovered the 50th anniversary of the shootdown is later this month. Unfortunately I doubt I’ll have it done in time for the day but still, interesting timing on my part!
  4. Hi all, Here’s a fun one: what colour is/was the generic US civil helicopter interior? Here in NZ every 206 and 369/500 seemed to be some sort of tan and I’ve never had much luck matching that shade in my model builds. zk-htm-dc-yates_0012_40791047225_o by Zac Yates, on Flickr Photo by my dad, Dave Yates DC Yates and JL Bartle wedding 28/11/87 by Zac Yates, on Flickr Photo of my dad and mum at their wedding Any suggestions for an approximate match in Humbrol and/or Tamiya?
  5. Hi all, Can anyone help me out with this? I’m after the propeller from any boxing of Hobbycraft’s 1/48 Otter. I’m in New Zealand. Many thanks in advance!
  6. Thanks folks! I’ll be going the Academy route as one of the builds is an unrealised New Zealand agricultural conversion, the other is an ex-RNZAF playground installation my late grandfather painted and helped set up (and which my mother and aunt played in as kids): https://www.nzherald.co.nz/hawkes-bay-today/opinion/news/article.cfm?c_id=1503459&objectid=12000035
  7. Hi team, I have a couple or three TBF-1Cs I’d like to build in 1/72 but I see there are a few different options. What’s considered the most accurate kit, and what are the pros and cons of each? Many thanks in advance!!
  8. Thanks all, from my reading the bonus with the Airfix kit is the open weapons bays whereas Hasegawa is generally better. It'll probably come down to whichever I find first and cheapest when I have the cash. Thank you, I did notice that on Scalemates and included it in my OP 😉 Bookmarked!
  9. Hi all, I’ve got a hankering to build a Viking. So which is the most accurate out of the box: Airfix or Hasegawa (which I see is also out there in a Revell box)? The next question will be where to find one cheap or better....😇
  10. That looks ideal, thank you! That is a big help 🙂
  11. Spending the first three years of my life living 30seconds’ walk from the machine Dad worked with meant I had no choice...: Generated from my Apple iPhone using tools.sportscard.trade picture taken from our front door! Generated from my Apple iPhone using tools.sportscard.trade
  12. Thanks @AndrewS, this is likely the only USN (maybe even US, unless I get the urge to build Chico The Gunfighter) Phantom I’ll build so I’d like to get it close to right. Only issue for the time being is that I need a generous benefactor as I’m out of work and can’t even offer to pay postage...hopefully someone has just the NK 201-relevant decals from a sheet they can send to NZ. The Academy kit looks fantastic and after reading up on it online it raced to the top of my Wants list, and I’m fortunate to have a friend in the US who sent it and another kit to me gratis. Very excited t
  13. Hi all, I’m after option 3 (BuNo155875/NK-201) from Print Scale’s sheet F-4 Phantom IIs of the US Navy Part-2 #72-266. Unfortunately I can’t repay you except in gratitude and a credit in the build post. Can you help?
  14. Thanks Andrew, I’d been told of that sheet on another forum. I’m not very familiar with USN markings - what are the issues?
  15. A friend gifted me the Academy kit, man I was not expecting such a big box with so much plastic! It looks gorgeous in the box. Now to find decals for 155875/NK-201....
  16. Thanks folks! After consulting a few Alpha Jet kit instructions online I decided on Tamiya XF-63 German Grey and Gunze H303 FS34102 for the camo.
  17. Hi all, I was wondering if any ARCers have any 1/72 drawings or plans for the Pitts S-1 Special, particularly the S-1S? This time I tried a Google search and there is one, even better it’s available as a PDF...but I don’t have €15 to spare for food, let alone a computer drawing! So, does anyone out there have a 1/72 or scaleable drawing for the Pitts S-1? Many thanks in advance!
  18. Only a couple here for now, but the last part goes for me too 😂 I've looked over the various galleries from last week's Spielwarenmesse Nürnberg but none of the shots of Italeri's booth seem to show the JetRanger, not even a piece of box art. Mind you I haven't looked at every photo in great detail so I'd love to be corrected!
  19. I should point out I'm only interested in a Longranger, but when they mentioned the 407 to me I figured I owed it to 407 fans everywhere to pass on that little tidbit!
  20. Thanks for that, @SinisterVampire319. I've been advised the -73 is also known as the -F, which is what the CMK part represents. So problem solved! If anyone has one going spare and is feeling generous please let me know!
  21. Unfortunately the reason I'm asking is because many (most?) of the Execuform kits listed on Scalemates don't have kit numbers. Just a small thing, but I'd like to rectify that. As an aside, I have his Lockheed 10 underway as a desk display model. What have you got hidden away? I'd love the Convair 340/etc and the Hughes XF-11.
  22. Hi all, This is a “what if?” build I’ve been thinking about for a long time – what if the West Germans had stuck with the Kestrel Tripartite Test Squadron and Dornier had licence-built Harriers for the Luftwaffe? This build was made possible by the generous gift of an ESCI 1/72 AV-8A from a member of another forum, with decals scrounged from a Heller 1/72 Fouga Magister and a Revell 1/72 Eurofighter (stencils are the original ESCI). The bomb and SNEB pods came from my spares, otherwise it’s OOB. This is the Hawker Siddeley-Dornier Harrier GR.1B, marketed internatio
  23. Zombie thread! Does anyone know of a full listing of Execuform's kits? Also I read on the page Focus On Vacforms that Mike Herrill started the line in 1979 - does anyone know when he stopped?
  24. Good call LD, that would be a great tribute. A good base may the Italeri 1/72 206 JetRanger #1372 they released a couple of years back - it still (frustratingly) has Kiowa rear windows that will need to be changed but it has a tail rotor driveshaft cover, higher skids and a searchlight.
  25. Hi all, Revell's coming out with a range of five (so far?) Tomcat and Super Hornet kits in 1/72 and 1/48 to tie in with the new movie. Our first good look at the boxes (and 1/48 kits) comes from this the start of this video tour of the Revell stand at Spielwarenmesse Nürnberg 2020: https://youtu.be/J2H0p3rnJvI
