  1. That is correct and it is the common problem of Hasegawa and Academy's F-15B/D/E.
  2. Check this photo, too. These photos are from Edward Airforce Base homepages. By the way, the shape issue means not only the problem in the shape of the vent but also in the canopy.
  3. Aside from the debates on the bulge shape on the aft fuselage, there seems to be additional shape issue on GWH's F-15B/D kit. When you take a look at the linked photo above, you might notice a bulgy shape starting from the rear-end of the canopy and also around vent behind the canopy. Simply put, unlike Revell or Tamiya, GWH did not get the shape right. If some of you have a Revell's F-15E kit and look at the shape of the vent behind the canopy, you will get the point.
  4. MMZ posted another review on the item with some more detailed photos. mmz review link
  5. I am pretty sure that there were distortions on the two images uploaded to MMZ. One example to support the idea is the spacing between the radome and the windshield. The gap is much wider in the upper image than in the bottom image, which can be an evidence that there are distortions in the images. Also, it seems like parts of the canopy ceiling have not been depicted on the tooling yet.
  6. Clearly, there is a confusion around this topic. Some people seem to be referring to Academy's 1/48 KAI T-50 "Golden Eagle" trainer (sprue shots from MMZ) while there are still some who are talking about 1/72 Sukhoi T-50 PAK-FA which is a rebox of the Zvezda kit. 1/48 Golden Eagle is a completely new tooling as you can see in the link above.
  7. First, it is cleary indicatd in Academy's 2011 &no=123540&keyword=&where=0&mode=&start_page=1590"]catalog that their 1/48 F-4B will be a new tool. About the release date, it is only known that the kit will be released next year.
  8. Also, the front fuselage where the glove vanes were installed for earlier type cats is too thick.
  9. I just found that Academy also announced F/A-18A+ in their Korean catalog.
  10. If you are interested, check the post on MMZ.
  11. This is a model built with Academy's retooled Raptor with some photo etched parts on it. I have no idea whether they have made another changes on the kit's tooling but the vertical tails still look undersized.
  12. The guy who build the sample of the kit posted some photos to his blog. He wrote that the weapons are from F-15I and nose gear , gear bay and main gear wheel were newly tooled along with chaff-flare dispenser and Pave Tack. Interestingly, he also mentioned that the wheels for F-111F were also re-tooled and included in the kit, which implies that Academy will release some other variants of the jet. However, it does not seem like they ever re-tooled the cockpit where the crappy ejection seat belts of the old kit are still visible through the canopy at the sample photo. We will see how much they
  13. I heard that for an Academy kit, there is a sticker at the bottom of the box indicating the date of production. For the example of the kit manufactured in May 2010, the number on the sticker would be "10 05".
  14. I am pretty sure the Testors raptor is a plain re-boxing of Italeri raptor after reading review here. For the Academy kit, try to purchase the one manufactured since May 2010 because the nosecone of the kit was corrected as you see in the link here.
  15. I found the instruction you are looking for in the link here. It is likely that you already got the instruction somewhere in your kit's instruction.
  16. I just found an article of a guy who built the sample of Academy's new F-111C. You are right in that weapons bay is closed and the Pave Tack pod is a stick-on part. Basically a new sprue and the weapons sprue from F-15I were added to the old kit. He wrote that the wheel hub for F-111F was also included in the kit, which implies that Academy will release revised F-111F sooner or later. Hope they work on the flap or at least on the canopy next time.
  17. Looks like Academy's RAAF F-111C will be released soon when I see the link here. In addition to upgraded cockpit, wheels and nose gear bay seem to be re-tooled.

  19. Academy's F-16I is still in minor league when compared to Tamiya's Viper if your major concern is the accuracy of the jet, itself. Academy kit still has issues in air intake profile and the shape of the nose gear. Academy put efforts to the kit by retooling the entire upper fuselage (they did not just retool the forward upper fuselage for a twin sitter but also retooled formerly pebbly surfaced rear upper fuselage), wheels, horrible glare shield and nose cone but if you are looking for a kit in more correct shape, Tamiya is still the only way to go. In this sense, if you want to build a viper
  20. Looking at their their homepage, Wolfpack seem to be releasing a cockpit set and some update sets.
  21. As far as I know, Academy didn't re-tool the intake. The master of MMZ also regretted that they did not re-tool the intake. I personally don't understand why they re-tooled only wheels while the shape error of the intake is more noticeable. I heard that Academy is planning several variants of 1/32 F-16's. Hopefully, they might re-tool the intakes like they did for their 1/48 F-15's.
  22. When the photos were first posted to MMZ, those people worried about sink marks on the Python, too. The webmaster replied that those sink marks were found only in the sample he received not in the mass-product.
  23. It looks like the release of Acad F-16I is definitely near. Now you can see the test shots of the product at MMZ.
