  1. Not exactly sure what the Destin Guys do with them. I have heard several different stories so I don't want to say something and be wrong. They don't play well with us.....I guess they don't like that the AF is flying them as well. We use them at Hurby for "training". Day and Night low level flight...etc. Cheers Matty
  2. Kyle, There a few of them that fly out of Destin. I forget the name of the company that flys them, but a few of my friends are pilots out there. If you are in the Destin area, you will probably see some white ones too which are flown out of Hurlburt Field. I know for a FACT that the guys out at Hurby LOVE doing beach runs................. Cheers Matty
  3. It is an HH-60G figure as most have said. Picked one up a couple of years ago simply because it looked pretty cool.....even though it is a figure of the Flight Engineer on the right side of the -60 (mount even says "RH" for Right Hand mount). But don't tell anyone!!!!........I was still a Pavelow gunner at the time....... Cheers Matty
  4. From an old Pavelow dude.......THAT IS AWESOME! Wish we had one of those for real. That would have been the best of both worlds. Outstanding build! Now go off and build more for us to enjoy. LOL. Cheers Matty
  5. Well stop by and say hello. See you Saturday. Cheers Matt
  6. I have not been around the forum in a while. I have been pretty busy with deployments and training and what not. BUT!!!! If anyone is going to be at the Macdill airshow this coming weekend, let me know on here. I will be down there next weekend with the MI-17. Cheers Matt
  7. OH boy......that looks lovely! Outstanding work my friend. Cheers Matt
  8. Well I have learned some new methods from this post for sure. The thumb and forefinger method has worked very well for me. Cheers Matty
  9. 369......"The Love Machine" all pretty in bright colors. I love these pictures. Thank you for sharing them! Guess I have to build another -53C now........ Cheers and thanks again! Matt
  10. Ummmm... ...I Flew 69-5790 on the last flight (28 September 2008) as her last tail gunner. Even helped paint the hornets on all of them........Yep, you bet your arse I am in on this one!!! Put me down for the rest of what everyone else doesn't buy in 1/48th. Cheers Matty
  11. Congratulations my friend. Glad to hear mom and Julian are in good health. All the best to you and your new family! Cheers Matty
  12. The chutes are for the brass and links. And yes we could have put miniguns on the tail. I actually got to shoot the last minigun in that configuration. I got some GOOD video of that one. As for what I am up to.......pain my friend....just pure and simple pain. New squadron with A LOT of training lined up. Yes the links eject out the left or right side (depending on how it is set up) and the spent brass gets ejected through the bottom of the gun itself. Cheers Matt
  13. Well WISH that was me on the tail. That is one aircraft that I absolutely LOVED being on the ramp of. We sent the squadron up for the dedication of "Magnum" when they put it in the museum. We, ALSO, wondered why it was in such a dark place. But all of us thought about it, and eventually came to the conclusion that she was in her rightful place. In the dark. The MH-53's in the USAF spent most of thier careers flying in the dark. So what better place to put her than in a nice, comfy, and dark place......right where she was the most comfortable. Now, as for those of you that want to b
  14. The only USMC Helos that I KNOW OF (and I think I am right) that use miniguns are the Hueys. The -53s only have the .50 cals on them. I am not saying I am 100% right, but I am almost positive. And the Marines don't use the same window mounts for the .50, they use the Navy's mounts which are a bit different. I think the ramp base plate is the same, but the gun mount that the weapon is attatched to (seperate component) is the same as the Navy window mounts. As for the ammo chutes, I don't think they use them. I am pretty sure everyone has gone to 100 (or some more than 100) round can adapt
  15. Everyone got out of that one with minor injuries. Cause of the crash was due to the EAPS being open while landing in a dust out. Cheers Matt
