  1. Hi all My Granddad flew the the Fleet Air Arm in the middle east some time around 1940-1942 the only problem is i don't know what squadron he was flying with and unfortunately he passed away last year and no one in the family seems to know. I've seen some of his war time pictures and most of them are of Gloster Gladiators operating out of desert airstrips, but then i also remember him telling me about his time flying hurricanes in the desert, he says they were Green and brown and his aircraft had a large F painted on it. Now i don't think that this aircraft could have been a sea-hurricane bec
  2. chears guys thanks for the info, I can get started now !!! Cioa
  3. Hey guys just wonding if anyone could tell me what colour the cockpit for and F-86F-30 during the korean war. I've seen models painted in black, dark grey and light grey... unfortuntly i cant find any good pictures to judge for my self. Also were the interior of the wheel bays and airbrakes painted chrome green or interior yellow? chears
  4. Hey Guys I'm looking for some good low Viz Markings for a 1/48 A-4M, I'm in melbourne Australia and dont really want to send out oversea's for them... Any sugestions of suppliers?
  5. thats a real interesting picture!! seen a few things that if i were to build it again i'd change, such as the hue's in the greens and a couple of the markings. The aircraft seems to have some real attitude, with its none horisontal kill marking and blackened wheel hubs. shame i didnt see a photo like this before. I'm interested to know what the stores mounted on the weopon ports are, i havent seen them before? are they a cluster munition? thanks for the photo ;) ciao
  6. The few Photo's i have of early F-4Es show birds without slime lights... allthough most also show the earlier connon nose fitted. Unfortunatly i couldn't find any pictures of this aircraft on the web or in my limited book references. The salmon colour is a custom mix, from what i remember it was mostly flesh with a small amount of red and possibly a little buff... just one of those colours that you sometimes hit right, i love it when that happens (more offten than not it doesn't)
  7. Hey Just finished My Pro-Modeler Release of the hesegawa F-4E, its my First SEA bird and i like the ways its come out. Sorry about posting a link but the photos are arranged on a slide show thing with music and funny tranistions. the F4U-1 is the Tamiya kit... apparently its not the corret colours, silly tamiya instructions http://www.photoshow.net/Marks_Models Just click the picture and hopefully the show will load up!! Any coments are welcome. Ciao
  8. thanks guys for your positive feed back, lol, annoyed to find it was a tri colour bird... really wanted to do a tri colour but i liked the radar set too much. i'll try posting some better pics when the weather improves!! catch ya soon

  11. cool thanks for that lance, its a tricky thing to understand!! you sound like you know your stuff. Ture what you say about not noticing an aircraft carrier, of course painting the wing folds would make the carrier invisable lol. thanks mate
  12. Hey guys, kinda new here but anyway.... I've just started building and painting my F4U-1 tamiya and during some internet based research i got totaly confused about the primer colours used on the Birdcage corsair, and also where this primer was applied on opperational machines. From what i've read the early primer colour used was a salmon primer colour with a dark green - black cockpit. Then getting into more detail i've been reading things like only the forward part of the wheel well was left salmon while the main part was painted the wing undersurface colour, as were
