  1. Beautiful work! I have this same kit - in fact I was just fiddling a bit with it today. I too realized there's something wrong with the intakes (that I too realized only today). I'm not familiar with other Cobra types but in an otherwise good looking kit it just made me wonder where did they get the design from? Do some other AH-1s got this kind of intakes or is it just a stupid mistake?
  2. Wow. Looks pretty much flawless. Gorgeous work!
  3. Now, if I really would want one of newer ones -Fine Molds, GWH or Academy - I'm left a bit confused for they all seem to have their advantage. I've understood the FM kit can go together without any filler and it has some very nice openable panels - even the spine. Anyone who has the Daco F-14 book knows the detailing possibilities this opens up. The GWH seems to have very exquisite surface details, while Academy includes options for several models and configurations and seems to fit quite nicely. Clever solution with the windscreen too.
  4. I don't know about it's price these days but I really enjoyed building my Fujimi A Tomcat. If you can get it cheap and don't care about extreme detailing on the newer kits (this has nice crisp details too, I mind you), it's still worth building.
  5. Thanks! Never encountered those before although I did a lot of research on the subject before the Christmas when trying to get some better quality marker pens for my daughter.
  6. Nice looking bays! A Sakura pen? The brand is familiar so this is a kind of marker pen, right?
  7. Yeah, that really seems to be the case after finally watching the excellent video. You really gave it some serious hell! I thought the ART model Flogger would be a nightmare to build (since it looks rather ugly in the box) while this (in my case '23MF) would be something much nicer.
  8. I admit I didn't watch it through. I watched the beginning with fast forward cause I wanted to see the paint shop stage. ๐Ÿ™‚ Now I have time for the whole video. ๐Ÿฟ
  9. Sure is gorgeous! I prefer ARC when showing and seeing other people's models so I'm glad you posted it here. I've got one R.V. Flogger (23) in my stash and in the box it certainly looks better than the ART model kit (27K) I've got. How was the fit?
  10. Just out of curiosity, what would you say how much was your total budget for this project at this point? ๐Ÿ˜€ That's an awful lot of resin, I gotta say!
  11. Thanks for this delicious review! I have a soft spot for these old 1/72 Matchbox multi-color kits (and especially for these sunset stripe boxes!). They were part of my childhood and I'm always eager to read inbox reviews of them online. I was and still am a jet guy, so propeller kits like this are complete novelties for me - and very interesting too!
  12. You're welcome! And yes, do test it out first!
  13. Thanks for your kind words! It's awfully quiet here so it's extremely nice to hear comments especially when I'm very inexperienced in armour. Like many great innovations, this too happened by accident. ๐Ÿ˜„ I'm fond of the end result though and that's why I left it there and even took some close ups. The fenders were treated with Ammo of Mig Jimenez dust pigment, most probably "Europe Earth". Remember this was supposed to represent dry summer conditions on the Russian steppe. Then, I decided to add some fresh, more wet mud for the chassis, cause maybe they had encountered
  14. So beautiful! Pure plastic - pure fun. Just like in the old days. I've done builds like these for my son who's now seven. Some years ago a Tamiya (not Italeri reboxing) 1/72 jet and much recently some tanks to go with traditional plastic soldiers. I have to say it's very different from the usual model making and so very relaxing. No need for reference photos from the internet or books, no mixing the right shades for painting, no filling, no decaling. Just slamming the plastic together with minimal sanding! Pure joy!
  15. I can say I'm thankful for this particular hint. I too hadn't heard about any problems on this area and after having fiddled with my kit for several times during the years (but without really starting to build it) I wasn't expecting anything like this with the intakes. So, always good to know there might be a problem! People have their preferences and perceptions and sometimes it's hard to understand what they are based on. Having "your" kit criticized isn't always taken lightly either. As a model kit I really do like this particular Fulcrum kit and could never return to say Italer
  16. I hadn't even noticed the project before today. Very nice that I finally did! Will be waiting for the return.
  17. Despite of the IRST usually (meaning almost always) being retracted when on the ground, I decided to depict it in lowered position - which is entirely possible and makes the model a bit livelier. The kit IRST itself was a bit bland without any surface detail. It also needed a lot of sanding since the halves were quite irregular in shape. I engraved some panel lines and used just slightly pinkish white for the lense interior and mixed silver and brown for the ring. The shiny steel rings are from foil tape. Perhaps a bit too shiny at the moment. The interior of th
  18. Very neat work for such a small model!
  19. Looks great! The vent details on the gun pack look so delicious.
  20. Sorry, Gene. It came straight from the heart in an instance.
  21. This coming from a dedicated 1/48 builder probably tells I've done something right. ๐Ÿ˜€ Yesterday when I was trying to find a suitable lense for the HUD from my spares box I bumped into a 1/72 K-36. How tiny it was! ๐Ÿ˜ถ Seems he didn't even notice. ๐Ÿ™‚
  22. God damn the surface detail looks great in every single part!
  23. Duly returned! No wonder she's your soon to be ex-wife! That's mean! Hopefully you'll be able to get another one cause despite of the some slightly negative surprises, it's a nice kit. Thanks for your kind comments both and thanks for watching! The nicest thing in this kit has arguably been the cockpit. I've really loved making it. The seats are very nice too and although some resin seats with beautifully molded belts can offer a bit more details, I happily settled with these. The harnesses and the ejection handles come from the kit's PE she
