  1. No what I mean is are we sure the all over grey scheme was FS36118?
  2. I also like the US Navy weapons loads, their thinking seems more inline with the way read life really works. Ideally you want to use an LGB but it you cant use an LGB then you can still deal with it because you can use the slicks oh and they might be toting air defences so you got that too.
  3. I think Im going to get a Quinta cockpit for it. I do like how they look, and it cuts down all the work, I think that set comes with side wall panels. The seat is a good call as I think I might use the later BRU-55 I think it is so that will I think make it a later jet, but I will be limited by the decals I go with. Im not fixed on what jet to do yet, decal sheets was one of the thigs I was hoping to pick up here but it does seem like many people have an opinion on it so...
  4. Been looking over some old photos taken at Mildenhall. Am I right in thinking the MH-53J/M wasnt FS36118 Gunship grey?
  5. What colour were the Pave knife pods used by the A-6A "VA-145"? I only ask because the navy seems to like painting things white. Like the British army does when they put you on jankers.
  6. I was thinking this too, Ive got one of those kits and I have no idea what to build it as. I think it comes with the AV, WW and WP tail code markings which Im not really interested in because Ive got a couple of the Italeri F-16DG/DJ kits which will probably end up wearing the AV markings and a Hasegawa F-16CJs that Ive got that will end up with the SP, SW and WW markings. So what does that leave for the Academy kit that I havent already got planned but does tote the LANTIRN targetting pods. Also on the second decal sheet included there is a decal at the top of the sheet
  7. Some of the detail parts do look nice, the wheels and those pylons make me want to build it just to show them off. I think the rest of it is all geared towards the Marine Corp, which isnt my thing.
  8. I just had a look and both the kits I have come with metal landing gear. One of them has a rather wonderful looking cartograph printed decal sheet with a massive eagle on it. Not sure its quite my taste though The other has a gold dragon decal sheet.
  9. So Ive got a couple of these in my "to do at some point" pile and was wondering what your thoughts are on them. I know the USN is well known for its none symmetrical weapons load outs, give me some ideas for a weapons load for them. What is the kit cockpit like? What do you think of these new 3D decals for the kit? Any thoughts or ideas would be welcome. I love the Hornet, I love the way it looks but I have no idea about it.
  10. Ive only recently put a toe into the 3D printing world once I saw the results people were getting with the Mighty 8K. They have 3D printers at my work. its prints are amazing but the price tag matches it.
  11. Going on that basis it makes me wonder if you would have progressed from resin casting to 3D printing at all.
  12. Im thinking of the Phrozen Aqua Resin Clear printed with a Sonic Mighty 8k printer. Purely thinking about home use here. If you modelled a simple part, say a wind screen for an Italeri Opel Blitz truck 1:35 and printed it in that clear resin what would you say it would turn out like?
  13. Was that to mount the ECM pod on the rear station? I dont remember there being one for the forward station.
  14. Its not the AN/ALQ-131 thats the problem, any shallow pod will do. There is nothing to mount it to on the model. There is no kit or after market that has the Pave tack cradle that is correct on the "back side" when its rotated into the bay. So there is nowhere to mount the ECM pod. This thread will show you what I mean F-111F Pave Tack Pod - Jet Modeling - ARC Discussion Forums (arcforums.com)
  15. What do you mean by "post processing" exactly?
  16. Have you tried it with one of the new 8k printers? I must say my first thought was not without voxel lines but Ive not tried any clear resins, only the Phrozen 8k grey resin
  17. Reskit dont make the early F-111F cockpit, they make the mid version with the Pave Tack pod scope in it then the later AMP modifications which they call the late cockpit. Yes you can make a ODS F-111F from it, but there is still no accurate way to model it with the GBU-15 TV guided bombs as nobody has ever done the AN/ALQ-131 mounting for the bomb bay. The TE flaps are always a problem, but Im not going into all of the problem the base kit has, with what you mention above I dont see why you cant make a convincing ODS F-111F with the Afterburner decal sheet.
  18. If I had put them on one of my builds I would have left them bare. Just put the details up into the ejectors and called it a day. Lovely tooling
  19. Yeah thats an old and valid technique but not shaking it about like you see some people do on youtube.
  20. I guess in a way yes. Its not often that I do strip it down but when I do I always put a drop on the main needle seal and then drag the whole needle through a rag that has a very small amount on it. The lube on the tip doesnt last the thinners I put through it though. A drop on the needle below the trigger to ease its use doesnt go a-miss. Otherwise I wouldnt drop any down the plunger lest it gets into the air stream.
  21. I have the kit but no way to scan the instructions. Message me
  22. Yeah but Hasegawa has made a good living from rehashing old kits with new markings for years now.
