  1. 1/48 Revell P-61 Black Widow, 1/48 Hase modern USN carrier deck crew (set A), the 1/700 Dragaon USS Essex. A whole mess o'paint, and squadron/signal books on the U-2, F-105, F-3, and F9F. -PH
  2. F-8 Walkaround book, Osprey's advanced avaition modeling and postwar aricraft books, D&S USS Lexington book, a Self-healing cutting mat, a roll of 6 mm masking tape, a paintbrush, a putty applicator, and a 4-piece probe set! PH
  3. What's the story with this plane? What is the grafitti Alaska all about? PH
  4. Awesome. I was hoping to do something along these lines, someday: WWI armor vs. giant insects; dinosaurs on the loose at the Indy 500; A giant squid taking down a WW2 aircraft carrier; modern USN fighters vs. "war of the worlds" You can see where this is going... PH
  5. I'd take some of this action, if we're dealt in! I'd love to see 1/32 of some of the lesser seen USN a/c: stoofs, furies, fireballs, skyknights, demons, tigers and supertigers! PH
  6. I'm a maybe. Depends on my workload at my real job. Probably won't bring anything, I'd just like to come to meet and greet folks. PH
  7. Looks like the Barthelmes book is hard to find for purchase, but I'm going to try putting a request in with my public library. I'll probably order the others as well! PH
  8. Thanks Tom, that's all good to know. A few years ago I read the book "Mig Master" which is a nice history of the F-8. Found some good info there to orient me to this great a/c! I'll post specific questions to the threads here when I can get my hands on the walkaround book. PH
  9. Thanks to everyone whose pointed out some things to watch out for. This is all very helpful, and sounds like more than I bargained for! This will be real learning experience, which is what GB's are all about right? If anyone knows any good online sources of photos covering the wheelwells and windscreen issues, be sure and post them or drop me a note!
  10. I don't know the F-8 reference books well (though there's an off chance they are under the tree as we speak  ) I know there are a few different sets which look to have the same basic info: is there one that folks can recommend to cover the earlier versions (pre-Vietnam) of this fine a/c? Thanks! Poole Hutchinson
  11. I am humbled! What a great lookin' Gunfighter! Hope mine can turn out as good! But I'd settle for "close"! Poole Hutchinson
  12. Sounds like a good challenge then. I'm thinking of doing my F-8A with the wing in the up position, and maybe a hatch or two open. Not sure yet. I hope to start this one after the holidays, but will keep everyone posted on how it goes.
  13. Been waiting for an opportunity like this to get it in gear for an early Crusader: an F-8A of VF-142 c. 1958. Has anyone used the Cutting Edge F-8A/B/C/D/H/K/L conversion kit? I saw the review somewhere, but was wondering if anyone had any direct experience with it? Poole
  14. As a newbie to this site and this GB, I'm willing to pony up with several decal sets, all from our good friends at Twobobs: 1. 1/48 F-14B VF-103 2. 1/48 F-15A WTC Scramblers 3. 1/32 F/A-18C VFA-82 4. 1/48 F/A-18E VFA-137 If someone could let me know where to mail these off to (GB HQ), I'll be more than happy to get them off my hands. Also, if someone could contact me off-board on how to get a banner displayed at bottom like ya'll have, I'm grateful. Can't seem to get that figured out. Poole
