  1. Many thanks :) I have some Zuni's (enough parts for 4 pods, with the exposed end caps or the aerodynamic covers :)) sadly I do not have any of the 7 shot pods though!
  2. I'd like to get hold of some AIM-54s to hang off an F-14A if possible - was hoping somebody would have a couple of spare missiles from the Revell or Academy kits that I could swap for something! Missile decals would be nice too though I can do without if necessary . Naturally I will cover your postage costs via paypal. Post here if you have anything you'd be willing to trade! Many thanks, Will
  3. Has been completely inaccesible to me for the past few days - my ISP is Virgin Media. Slightly annoying as I'm currently trading with a couple of other guys on that site, yet can't reply to their PMs! Using my telephone I can browse the forums without hassle, but the browser on my phone is crap and doesn't let me send PMs to anyone :)
  4. Have been painting up ordnance for some USN builds I have planned and was wondering whether this is a valid ordnance configuration for an F/A-18E.... Stations are to be as follows.... 1 - AIM-9X 2 - AIM-120 3 - GBU-16 4 - GBU-16 5 - ATFLIR 6 - Fuel Tank 7 - Empty 8 - Fuel Tank 9 - Mk83 Air (Mk83 w/ BSU-85 from the revell kit?) 10 - AIM-120 11 - AIM-9X According to the Afterburner VFA-105 instructions this should be okay, but it seems the Rhino is a peculiar beast for weapons loads, with so many different stations and stores that testing all combinations will take so long that only
  5. Any chance of a 1/48 set to convert Hasegawa GBU-12s into the new Paveway IV bombs used by the RAF Harrier fleet in Afghanistan, and soon to be on the Tornado as well? Essentially its a small cable guide, two GPS bumbs, and the hardback fairing, the curves of which make it the hardest element to scratchbuild. The Tornado GR4 will carry up to five (and 8 is plausible if they're happy to use double racks like with the older 1000lb free fall weapons), whilst the Harrier can carry up to 6. Given the nature of current conflicts this small precision weapon is bound to become a very common sight
  6. A lot of recent combat loads over Iraq and Afghanistan are assymetric, with a 'goofy gas' configuration - a fuel tank under the centreline and one under the right wing, with a mix of small PGMs (typically chose a mix of 2 or 3 500 JDAMs, 2 or 3 500lbs Paveway IIs, and occasionally a laser AGM-65E Maverick missile is carried as well). Wingtip sidewinders are the norm, with an ATFLIR targetting pod on the left side fuselage weapons pylon. AMRAAMs are rarely carried these days from what I've seen. Typically when carrying this mix of GBU-12 (500lb paveway 2) and GBU-38 (500lb JDAM) it seems
  7. Elta 8222 ECM pod...available in 1/48 scale from Paragon Designs
  8. Gordon, Got my kit safe and sound this lunchtime am always impressed with your service! Since you obviously have the ear of folks at Stevens, any chance of a similar limited re-issue of the A-6E kit? Will
  9. PM me with your address and they're yours for free (mine will be a Dutch jet). Will need to double check the parts though - i've spotted the nose mounted IFF blades but there are so many parts on the sprues that I haven't tracked down the other bits yet!
  10. TARDIS is currently being rolled out across the fleet following the completion of acceptance trials by 41sqn. Also, the TIEC upgrade is worth mentioning - not sure what it will add (if anything) cockpit wise, but it does add an extra blade antennae under the rear fuselage (new Have Quick radios or a datalink aerial or something). Seems very few jets have this fitted though, and the same holds true of TARDIS I expect at this stage, so it depends what jet you're modelling as to what bits you'll need to add/scratchbuild to existing aftermarket cockpits.
  11. Stunning! Love the weathering and the paintwork.
  12. First up, Revells superb F-15E Strike Eagle in 1/48. Decals from Twobobs 'da heath' sheet, other add ons include the 500lb JDAMs and Sniper pod from Shawn Hull, LGBs, 2000lb JDAM and the Lantirn nav pod from the Hasegawa weapons set, and the Wolfpack designs F-15E update set. Slightly disappointed with the paintwork on this, turned out a bit dark . Brush painted with Revell enamel 'Gunship grey' which turned out horribly light and matt, until I put the first coat of future on it upon which point it went really dark! Doubt I'll use this paint again... Next, the Revells 1/48 F/A-18F Sup
  13. Last night I managed to drop my nearly completed Hobbyboss 1/48 F/A-18D from the workbench, and it landed upside down with predictable results The model is salvageable as there is very little other damage, but I'm going to need to replace the badly cracked canopy and windshield. I was wondering if anyone knew how (or indeed, if) it is possible to obtain replacement parts for Hobbyboss kits?
  14. Looks horrible to my eyes, very tacky...the old scheme was far better!
  15. I'm a Brit so its gotta be the guys from Lakenheath. Do the 492nd sqn flagship jet with its 5x GBU-31 bunker buster loadout...doesn't get more businesslike than that!
  16. I didn't think the AMT F-4G was that bad either, when I had one a few years ago. Not the best, but it was so cheap....detail was okay, I remember the HARMs being fairly decent.
  17. Funny little JDAMs those aren't they? Look a tad small and thin to be GBU-38s to my eyes...
  18. Top range of products, excellent service, and following some email correspondence I can confirm Gordan Kwan is a top bloke as well!
  19. Interested in the Limited Edition 1/48 Eduard Mirage 2000C? :)
  20. Wiring/power requirements I expect. The left hand side fuselage pylon is also the only one wired to carry targetting pods (Litening 3 RD, TIALD, and eventually Sniper XR as well...). The RAPTOR is a real beast of a store though, probably the bulkiest thing ever hung from a Tornado (JP233 is slightly longer but not so bulky). Ground clearance with the pod loaded is very little! Its very draggy too - not a load ever taken on a ferry flight thats for sure!
  21. The RAF LGBs are *not* the same as the US made GBU-16, which features in the Hasegawa weapons sets - whilst the guidance package is very similar, being of the paveway II family, the British Mk13/18 bomb body is subtly different from the US Mk83, and this necessitates wider span front fins when the paveway II guidance kit, which further differentiates it from the GBU-16 as well as the stumpier shape of the bomb body. Such bombs are available as aftermarket items from Flightpath and AMRAAM Line.
  22. I believe the Strike Eagles dropped a couple of GBU-28s during Operation Allied Force on that massive tunnel complex at a Serbian airfield (from memory it was either Slatina nr Pristina, Podgorica AB, or Batajnica). Will have to dig out my old copies of AFM which had BDA imagery after NATO released it. In the end, I don't think even the GBU-28 did enough damage to destroy what was inside! The hillside above the tunnel entrance was pock marked with bomb craters, and the narrow tunnel entrance couldn't even be properly targetted due to a bend in the tunnel that shielded the blast doors from a
  23. As the thread title says....usually new F-16 bits get done in no time at all, given the popularity of the aircraft, but as far as I'm aware nobody yet makes one :P I'd like to build my Spang CJ with the latest Sniper/HTS combination, but can't do so until we get the left hand side HTS. Am I in for a long wait here? Am sure there must be demand apart from my own!
  24. I think the CG/CJ terminology just sprung up as a way of more easily differentiating between different 'blocks' of F-16s - those produced in later production batches had different avionics systems which gave them quite different capabilities, and thus for mission planning purposes and drawing up an air tasking order, easily identifying what units jets could do was useful. One F-16 is not necessarily as capable as another....so knowing what jets are best suited to what mission is helpful. As such some easier way to differentiate between them was found, with the addition of another letter....
