  1. Aviation: Frontiers of Flight Museum, Love Field; Cavanaugh Flight Museum, Addison Airport; Fort Worth Aviation Museum and Vintage Flying Museum, both at Meacham Airport; CAF Dallas wing at Dallas Executive Airport; Founders Plaza at DFW (planespotting). Other good locales to spot planes: NAS JRB Fort Worth / Carswell Field / Lockheed Martin Models: Wild Bill's Hobbies in Irving, Hobbytown USA in South Arlington. There's lots of local hobby shops that cater to RC, rockets, cars, plastic, etc. Sightseeing: (Dallas County)Perot Museum, Dallas World Aquarium, Dallas Zoo, Dealey Plaza/Texas S
  2. Same position as you - not a spokesman for FT in the slightest, but I definitely know Brian has taken steps to ensure everything runs smoothly.
  3. It's because that kit is a rebox of the Italeri kit, and that's probably part of their agreement with Italeri about distribution and reboxing - they can't sell their rebox outside of their contract area.
  4. Jef, Why doesn't MMD/Squadron use weight-based shipping like almost every other online store out there? You're using Volusion, which is the same cart that Sprue Brothers uses. Having set up a few stores online for other folks, I know how easy it is to set up weight-based shipping. If your web guys have properly entered your inventory, switching over should be a no-brainer process. Since I'm a DFW local, I try to do local pickup whenever possible, but just for the sake of this discussion, I set up the identical order at both Squadron and Sprue Bros for comparison, using Caracal's Su-30MKK she
  5. fightertowndecals.com is up and running on the new server.
  6. Good point. The vast majority of software out there will just work fine, even if it's supposedly not compatible. There are, though, a few titles out there that do need an upgrade before win 10 is installed (looking at you, Catia!), and if one of those titles is a daily use, then make sure the fix is out there before you upgrade. I usually wait until after the first service pack (Windows) or point roll (Mac OS) to update just because of issues like this - by the time the update to the update is out, most incompatibilities are fixed...
  7. As someone who uses both OSes (Mac at home, Windows at work and home [virtualized on my iMac, thanks!]), each has its own pluses and minuses. Most of the windows software I use at work isn't compatible with 10 yet, so my employer is sticking with 7 for the foreseeable future, and I'm doing the same at home. Win 10 has a lot going for it, but I'd make sure any of the software you use, especially anything you need to do your job or daily tasks at home, is compatible. Otherwise, you'll be a) buying new software, B) waiting for the developer to upgrade his product or c) up a creek without a paddle
  8. Since I'm one of those aftermarket decal guys (albeit one who's very slow to bring sheets out...), here are my thoughts on the matter: If you're wanting to build an aircraft in one scale, and I only have markings available in another scale, contact me and ask! Quite often, I'd be happy to scale down/up the artwork for you, if it's something I've drawn myself. If it's something another artist has drawn for me, I can put you in touch with them to ask them. I have contacts with a few guys with ALPS printers, and for a nominal fee, usually in the $10-15 range, depending on how big a sheet is need
  9. I got one of their free books (737 At the Gate) when I did a local pickup order with them. The book was worth more than what I'd ordered. Based on what my own sources are saying, unless something turns around over there, and quickly, the Fat Lady had better be warming up her pipes...
  10. I think you're thinking of the TV show "M*A*S*H," where "Radar" O'Reilly mailed a jeep home bit by bit. I believe it popped up in a couple of the "Dear Dad" episodes
  11. I use a couple of these too store spare parts - landing gear struts, propellers, ejection seats, missiles, etc.
  12. Looks like somebody overdid the panel wash on that one!
  13. Gents, I don't often get on here asking for help, but this one's important. One of my good friends, Keith Brinkerhoff, was recently discharged as an E-5 from the army after serving 10 years, including 4 overseas tours, by medical discharge for severe PTSD. As part of his treatment, he was given a service dog, Bam Bam (yes, after the cartoon character). On Jan 20th, Bam Bam was killed by a drunk driver while they were out walking, which caused Keith's PTSD to kick back into high gear - unable to sleep, severe anxiety, the whole ball of wax. One of his other friends has started a GoFundMe pa
  14. Quick update: squadron changed their privacy policy to remove the paragraph about not selling your information earlier today. But they left the last updated line indicating 2003. Good think I have it saved from this morning, before it was changed...
  15. Kursad, since you'll have more room on the sheet, would you consider adding one of the earlier versions of 'Bert, as well? I know it would mean a second set of crests (say, A-4 or F-4), but it would give an extra option on the sheet, especially considering Microscale has their Fat Albert sheet available, still, in 1/72 for this same aircraft.
  16. That's the ones, yes. They didn't seem to terribly heavy. When I'm building the -135 series kits, I incorporate a metal spar in the wings, anyway, so the extra weight isn't an issue. I can weigh a set when i get home from work and let you know. I haven't noticed then as being any rougher than other resin I've used, actually. Definitely not to the level of, say, Eduard, but very well done, nonetheless.
  17. There's a seller on eBay selling resin CFM 56 Nacelles and pylons. I've bought a set, and they're well-molded.
  18. I spoke with them on phone. They're not affiliated with MMD Squadron whatsoever.
  19. Hey guys, head's up for everyone - Squadron MMD is sharing your customer information, including name, address and other information with 3rd parties, in direct violation of their own privacy statement. I received a flyer from a company called "Military Issue," selling collectibles, videos, etc. this past weekend out of the blue. On the address section, I found my MMD customer number, a second customer number from this company, ending in MMD, and other information that I've shared with Squadron in the past. On contacting Military Issue to get off their list, I was able to confirm that Squadron
  20. No, it means Volusion is having problems, AGAIN. Are you trying to pay with a credit card or with PayPal? I helped Brian build the new Fightertown site, and it's turned into a major headache for both of us. I'm about -----><----- this close to starting from scratch elsewhere for him. Fightertown and Vagabond might be competition to some extent in decal sales, but that doesn't mean I'm going to not help out a friend when he needs it.
  21. Does the future smell the same as it always has? There's several similar-looking versions of Pledge out there now, and it's easy to get confused which formula you're buying ( ask me how I know... )
