  1. According to the chart that I saw, 1/48 = O scale. Found this: O scale ivy So you know it is out there. Oh yeah how can I forget woodland scenic? linky They have a store locator. My LHS carries train, and scenic items. Going to have to try a diorama one day. Looks like it could be fun.
  2. HB Su-27: No idea. Dont bother with the zhengdefu. From all that I have read, it seems to be a poor kit. Why not take a look in the Buy and Sell here. I am sure that you will find a good deal on an Acad SU-27 eventually.
  3. And now, it is time for the Galaxy song:

  5. If I can expand on Toadwbg's advice: Go to Twobobs web site do a search for the 72-026 sheet. Click the result link. You will get a picture of the sheet. At the bottom right of the sheet image, you should see 2 icons. Don't click the one that looks like the magnifying glass. Click the one on the left that looks like mountains. The next image that comes up has the color call out by FS and paint brand. A bit fuzzy, but you should be able to read what you need. Hope this helps.
  6. Dimitry, Are there any issues that came up during the construction that you would care to share? Thank you for posting.
  7. Best of luck finding a place Terry. Looks like I will also be leaving Toronto come springtime.
  8. I forgot to thank viperbite for posting those photos. Thank you Mr. Middleton.
  9. Anyone have pictures of the Hasegawa and Acad engine bulges? I do not have the eye for these things, perhaps someone with these photos(or take a few) can help out? Rest of the kit looks awesome though. I hope that if an issue can be demonstrated to GWH, that they can do something about it. Ah well, this and the MiG-29 for the gotta get eventually list.

These are great. I really like them. Thanks for posting.
  12. ACZ, My 2 cents: I agree with Toadwbg. In time, get a better brush. That brush that you have should be okay for area coverage. As you continue on in the hobby you will likely want to move on to a top feed brush like the Iwata CS as shown. There are brushes from Badger, Grex, Paasche, Iwata, Harder and Steenbeck, cheap knock offs etc etc etc. This is just some info for later on, when you decide to move up. The top feed brushes with properly thinned model paints allow for lower air pressure, less over spray, better control and easy(usually) clean up. Gravity is doing the work for you..pull
  13. LSP review of the Revell: LSP Revell 1 I know going by plans... but, there look to be some shape issues as well. Wonder if Mr. Tamiya will have a P-38 released? Would there be much market I wonder? Here is the scalemates result re aftermarket and reviews on the trump kit. scalemates
  14. Here are some builds for you(assuming that you have not already seen these): P-38L In this link, the builder mentions that the U/C legs are not good at all in his opinion. Trump Revell Build A review that shows some potential areas of concern: P-38 review Hope this helps Yes, the P-38 is of interest to me for sure!
  15. My appologies for pointing out that store the. My bad. Thanks to all for correcting my error. Go with SB.
  16. Gosh, This looks better and better. My top 3 kits that I am trying to save for are this, the Javelin, and the 1/24 Tiffie(in no particular order). May take a while but it will be worth it. Thanks for the updates
  17. My condolences to you and your family.
  18. I use Tamiya usually and Gunze Aq when I can get them. Gunze has a wide range of colours. I would use Gunze AQ a lot more if it was easier to get here. I've tried and never got on with MM Acryl. I want it to work, but, I guess at this stage it must be something that I am doing. Which airbrush are you using? Might help folks suggest a paint/psi/thinner ratio. As for masking, yes it can be an issue. I use the blue tack for most WWII Camo jobs i.e. spitfires, Lancs etc. Not usually any issues there, and depending on how I angle the brush I can get a hard demarcation or a softer edge. Bes
  19. Here is a tutorial on pastel washes. Note that you should not use OIL pastels as per the article. http://www.arcair.com/tnt1/001-100/TNT026-Chalk-Washes/00.shtm Here is another video for pastel washes on panel lines. Please note that this is mainly for recessed panel lines, but you can still use it to pick out some detail like some grills or vents, rivets on a AFV etc. Best thing is to find a picture of the airplane that you want to model and see how you can replicate that. The following is how I would do it. There likely is a better way. I would paint the kit, gloss coat with som
  20. Multiple light coats. You can build up the opacity where needed and fade it out where you need it lighter. A thinned paint as previously suggested will give you that option whereas a more standard ratio will probably give you too much coverage. I usually use a circular motion with my airbrushing, but not always. Practice practice practice. You must have a kit that did not make it to completion(I have a gallery) Practice your psi/thinning and patterns on that. I think that it will be worth it.
  21. Jester and Toadwbg have given you the right info. Which paints are you using? I can get some great results with heavily thinned Tamiya(it is possible to over thin...ask me how I know) Multiple light layers, building up coats. That will give you the control to fade the paint. At least, that's how I would try it. In a way this paint job reminds me of a WWII Aircraft or AFV with that white camo that never lasts long.
