  1. Hey guys, made my own decals for a T6 Im building..Experts Choice clear decal paper (couple years old...kept in humid free dark closet) and printed on a Canon MX922. Decals were just black wing walks and bureau numbers etc.. Paper was overcoated with Testors Decal Bonder.. Decals were stubborn to come off paper but once they did they were very tough and durable..My issue is that a few days after drying I blew on model to remove some dust and one of the side decals lifted up and off of airplane lol.. I think issue is not enough glue on decal paper.. Would old paper give this problem of little t
  2. What program do you use to draw your decals? I use Illustrator. Also, where do you get your scale drawings at? thanks
  3. Thanks guys.. Scale shouldnt matter since I was speaking about actual dimensions.. I have a decal sheet for my scale (48th in this case) just needed to know actual size..sorry I didnt clarify in original post.. I figured it had to be 30 or 35 for fuselage..Im guessing the wing insignia were bigger? Or does is show the same size.. Its the insignia without the red strip but with the blue bar surround.. and thanks again everyone.
  4. Hi Guys! Im needing some help here please..I need to know what size insignia 30, 35,40,45 in etc were the fuselage insignia and wing insignia (star/bar) for a Navy SNJ in Jan of 1945.. Ive enclosed a pic of the actual aircraft Im modelling..My Monogram Colors series books by Elliot are packed away and cant get to them..Can anyone send me a scan of the info that shows what it was..thank you very much.. :) https://www.dropbox.com/s/rntevfyl8d3z29r/20160210_202950.jpg?dl=0
  5. I am looking to buy or trade for the Monogram 1/12th Wright Cyclone Engine w/ stand.. If you are willing to trade PM me with your request item and Ill see if I have it in stock. Thank you..
  6. Love these old pics. I was blessed enough to have obtained a huge load of photos from a crew member aboard a B24 also ETO. These were given to me when I toured for two years with a group that flies the only flying B24. They also fly a Mustang and a B17. Thank you for posting. Btw, do you know what the bulbous protrusion is just forward of the "K" in the word "BLACK" in the last photo, the first photo shows a window so im guessing it painted as well in the second pic or has a cover on it. Thanks
  7. Hey guys. Im back after a long break. Good to see everyone's still here. Ive searched for an answer before posting this but heres my question. What would be a good recommendation for a couple of paint colors for an all natural metal T6 (original one) so as to provide a couple of panels of diff color. And what would be a good silver color for the fabric control surfaces as they will have a diff color and/or sheen to them.
  8. Hey guys, Im going to ask a big favor here and see if anyone has a digital copy of the F9F Panther Erection Manual AN 01-85FG-3 . PM or message me if possible. Thank you very much. Im building the Panther for a gentleman who flew them and need some detailed info that only the manual provides. Thanks again.
  9. Thanks for the answers guys!! And yes I had a 74 260Z, white. Carbs sucked that year. Was restoring mine, it only had 32,000 original miles on it. No rust anywhere. It was a beauty. :)
  10. Hello once again. For my 48th Trumpeter Panther F9F-2P in kit markings tail code UA, im looking to put on a carrier deck base. During this time what would the deck material be made of; wood? Ive seen photos dating from 1953 to 1957 with Panthers on carrier decks and they all look wood. Not sure when these decks were upgraded during or after Panthers would have been used. So I guess the question is, can anyone recceomend a carrier base made by Eduard or similiar that has correct surface material for period. Thanks
  11. Thanks! Thought so, just wanted to make sure :)
  12. Hi guys! Does anyone have any guidance on whether the speed brakes could be deployed with the wings folded in the up position while aircraft is on ground? All the pics I see have them in up position. Im assuming they would only be out when landing (or maintainence)and would be retracted to the up position while taxing back to pad before the crew chief put plugs into the wingtip tanks and gave ok to retract the wings for storage. Im building mine with the wings folded, canopy back, and step ladder down, just as if its getting ready to be boarded and started for a mission. Just dont think log
  13. Please make the kit so an accurate SNJ can be built as well. Canopies were different(no frames on rear hood, etc). Thank you.
  14. I can get in touch with Louis Zamperini's son to see if I can get any reference photos if you guys would be interested.
  15. Got this kit and going to use the Aeromaster decal sheet "American Trojans Pt. II. They have the aircraft Im choosing to model listed as a DT-28B. What is the difference if any between a regular T-28B and a DT-28B? Thanks!
  16. Hey guys! After a long while Im getting back on board here.Took the year off to fly around the country with a B17, B24, and P-51. After 39 states, 110 stops Im back into the modeling world and need a Teknics 48th scale resin nose for the F9F-2P. Does anyone have one laying around they would be willing to part with for a reasonable price? Thanks. Aaron

  19. Tomcat, You are right on about the breathing thing, Ive done it so often now, I dont even know Im doing it. Relaxing, that is. (Theres a joke in there somewhere) The same thing applies to taking pics when close up so you dont get the jitters. :) Great tip!
  20. Im sure its been asked before but looking for opinions on what color suits the aluminum doped fabric the closest? Just a gray or gray with a bit of silver added in? Or just a different metallic color? Thanks
  21. For a quick and dirty method, spray cockpit with Tamiya White primer. Allow to dry fully. Then spray with Acrylic (I use MM) black. When mostly dry, take a razor blade and gently scrape away black paint on raised dials. As an alternative you can use a sanding stick to lightly take off top layer of softer black. Perfect dials everytime. If you then care to wash them and seal them you may do the detail painting as mentioned above in previous posts. Hope this helps.
  22. Superheat, thats what I thought! Thanks for the insight. Its bare bones then! Blunce, isnt it funny how box art seems to always be wrong? Plain doesnt sell most times.
  23. No prob Blunce. I dont get offended easily, I'm up for learning all I can, we'll see who answers. If I find out I'll let you know.
  24. Does anyone know of any instance where a F9F-2P (Photo version) Panther carried ordinance under the wings? Obviously the guns were replaced by cameras but curious if they carried fuel or other stores on actual missions. Havent seen any pictures to prove carrying stores, anyone prove me wrong? Thanks
