  1. Hey all, Regarding Quickboost's MiG-29 nose correction for the Italeri 1/72 kit - when I cut the nose off, do I cut it off at the first "ring" or the one further in/closer to the cockpit? I can't find any instructions on that. Thanks!
  2. Hey Steve, Are you still getting Aires stuff? I'm trying to get a hold of some 1/72 burner cans for the Italeri Mig-29.
  3. Well Kursad yet another decal sheet to look forward to! Thank you for putting in all the effort into producing these cool schemes. PS Been slogging away on my North Korean MiG-29. My wife is highly amused at my obsession over this ugly paint scheme and is making frequent trips to the local hobby shop near her office to get me the supplies I need for this monstrosity.
  4. Wait, you didn't tell me you had a Yak-38U. I call dibs on that too!
  5. Hi Felinoid, I'll take the whole lot. I'll email you with my zip code so we can figure out shipping.
  6. Hi Ken, Just wanted to let you know I've started on my Su-30. The fuselage halves don't go together that well, do they?
  7. It's a great show. See you there.
  8. Hey Kursad, you could turn it into a Twitter feed!
  9. Looks good, Berkut. When did the stiffening plates start showing up on Mig-29s? Were they only on Russian planes?
  10. Fantastic work Ryan. I have that kit myself and I'll definitely use your build photos as a guide. Did you have any issues with the cockpit, by the way? It doesn't look like it will fit into the fuselage.
  11. I've built it and it's a fantastic little kit. It's not as "refined" as the Fujimi kit, but mind you, Airfix never meant to go out and be better than everyone else, but rather to make quality, easy-to-build kits that are affordable and easily accessible. In this aspect they have done so brilliantly and at what a price point! The one thing Fujimi doesn't have on the Airfix kit besides pricing is how easy it was to build. I've put up a quick picture I snapped of my phone to show you how mine turned out. This is out of box, missing a few items (I knocked off the blade antenna behind the cock
  12. Hey, cool! Ken, you should add some rare earth magnets to the inside the fuselage and insides of the container, then you could attach and detach it whenever you want. Action features!!!
  13. Too bad you're in Maryland, Dave. Haven't seen you since we graduated. PS So you got the BRZ? How do you like it? I've been liking my chops at the Genesis Coupe for a while now but the BRZ is one beautiful piece of machinery.
  14. Corsairman's Willy Wonka one is my favorite!
  15. Yep, glad I ordered mine. I've already started, so watch out for it soon!
  16. Hi Kevin, I'm finding that the best way to get your paint to stick is to have a primer coat on, but it's too late at this point. At where you are that's not going to work unless you plan on stripping the paint and starting over. How about this? Sometimes when I want to reduce that tackiness of the tape I just stick it on the underside of my wrist and peel if off 2-3 times. I've also noticed that peeling the tape off "over itself" vs at a 90-degree angle helps sometimes. Good luck!
  17. Hey Berkut, what about the Academy kit? That one looks pretty decent to me. Did Hasegawa catch something that Academy missed out on the details?
  18. I just wanted to put in a good word for Linden Hill Imports, one of my favorite online shops (though I don't get to buy as much from them as I'd like to any more ) Anyway I ordered a couple of decal sheets from them a few weeks ago and I got it in the mail within 3 days. Unfortunately one of the sheets was badly out of register. I emailed them around Wednesday evening, and I heard back from them around 10pm that night saying "no problem. Send us the sheet and we'll replace it". So I mailed it out Friday of Labor Day weekend, and I got the replacement sheet back the following Saturday.
  19. Alriiiiiiiiight, decals ordered! Thanks Kursad!
  20. I tried preordering it but Paypal freaked out and said they'd be contacting me in 24-48 hours. Did anyone else get that?
  21. Hi Ken, I haven't started mine yet - our club has a 90-day build contest starting on the 3rd week in September and I'm to bring the kit unassembled to present it at the meeting. I'm hoping to get some aftermarket fins too, but barring that I will probably build straight out of the box, along with a set of ICM's missiles.
  22. Fantastic job, Ken. Did you use Gungze Sangyo 338 or Humbrol 147 for the grey? I have Humbrol 147 but it really bothers me as the photos of the 1:1 bird appears to have a blue tint to them, and I'm not sure if it's due to atmospheric or lens distortion. Even the photos you did had a blue tint (which could again come down to the blue background).
