  1. Hello, I am loking for a 1/72 RF-8A or G Ventura or Falcon Conversion set. For the Falcon set, just the RF-8 parts (vacform sheet also includes F-100F and TA-7) would be fine, too. Offers via PM please. Thanks Dennis
  2. Hello, @Winnie: - You're right, I forgot about Makilas... - As I had understood, the Sagem attempt was the one that failed certification. Do you know more of it? It was (only?) installed in Carson's N617HM (which now is DoS' N754WN). I do not know if it still has it or if they rebuilt it to the old standard. @thatguy96: - So they seem to be using only H-46s for medium lift in AStan? - I think the one in this pic is a shortened S-61N (probably N220WW or N216WW). Sikorsky and Carson marketing is doing a good job to throw those and the "T"s in one basket... Thanks a lot! Dennis
  3. Updated. Has anyone any infos on this? Thanks. Dennis
  4. Hello Everybody, I am looking for some info on DoS Air Wing‘s S-61. There are a lot of press announcements dating a few years back talking of S-61Ts. To me the real situation looks like the following: 1. The “T†demonstrator was an already civilian operated H-3 (formerly Siller Helicopters). I do not think it was really up to S-61T specs. 2. Sikorsky/Carson delivered around 15 aircraft so far. All seem to be converted S-61N, with some of them having been shortened, some not. Some seem to have been Carson inventory before when they still operated S-61s. 3. From 20
  5. Hello, here you can see 66-15259 in country, a very ealy AH-1G, which I think has the cap still on (later pics show the same aircraft without). http://www.vhpaphoto.org/calendars/2007/images/C0701.jpg http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?139413-Vietnam-War-Helicopter-Aviation-AH-1-Cobras (scroll down to post #9) Dennis
  6. Nice! Unfortuenately, there is at least 4 types used on Turmo III Frelons... First was a mesh-like type (see IAF 02 on delivery) Then there was just side screens (see IAF 09 on delivery or early SAAF birds) Later thre was the "standard" filter-type (later IAF Frelons and e.g. Lybia, Iraq, SAAF - also retrofitted to earlier export Frelons) At last, the IAF custom made some "centri-tube"-type which they continued to use after T58 conversion. Detail on the rear-engine ones is sparse. Please give me your E-Mail per PM and I'll send what I have. I'm looking forward to your set! Dennis
  7. mygalle: excellent work so far! I'd be in for a set if you produce it! Dennis (any chance for a landing gear without floats and big wheels to go with it? Or a good Israeli and other export decal sheet? - just wishing...)
  8. As everybody stated before, Revell depicts a Westlan Sea King. As you have to do quite a lot of fuselage work on both kits, you will lose most of the surface detail, which is raised on the Fujimi and mixed (raised rivets/recessed lines) on the Revell. I'd suggest to use the Revell Mk.41 kit as a basis, though. It has to be supplemented by Fujimi or Airfix or the Whirlybits sponsons. Here are the reasons: - both look like a Sea King, but Revell's is better in shape, especially in the area of rear fuselage, rear engine housing and windscreen and, most prominent, the tail pylon, wich is at a
  9. @Jon: Basic airframe of Hasegawa is pretty accurate. And very easy to build. Minor points are faired skid tubes (easy to correct) and overdone and artificial looking bulges in front of the port air intake and tail rotor gearbox (could be smoothed out, but I decided to ignore it). I had to add one connecting strut to the blade roots as well. I don't know about antenna fit or weapons load, because I did Red Bull's TAH-1F N11FX. Dennis
  10. Very good Job! One of the best -53 articles I've read so far (and probably the best about Pave Lows...) The other one is the Spring 2002 article about all variants. But: You should't have included the "H-53 In Action" in the further reading list. Too many errors. (By the way, nearly as much are in the nov/dec 2008 Defence Helicopter article about our -53s...) Sad to see her go. One operator less... Ours (Germany) still have about 20 years until retirement...
  11. One reason could be that there were no East German Mi-24V... East German Armed Forces (NVA) had Mi-24D and Mi-24P models only. So some conversion work would be required too.
  12. Do you have some other pics? Especially front views to show the diameter of the oil cooler. Thanks Dennis
  13. Hello phantomconstructer, six day war era means first paint scheme (3-tone including bottom) to you? Airframes available are 02, 04, 06, 08, 09, 10, 12 (and perhaps 15). Later ones seem to be delivered in later 4-tone scheme (the rest was repainted except 04 which was written off before). All of the info below applies only to 3-tone scheme! First batch delivered: 02 was delivered with wire mesh EAPS, floats and small (French style) wheels. Floats were removed very early, wheels changed to larger type before six day war. 04 was delivered with wire mesh EAPS, floats and large wheels. Fl
  14. Hello, what bird are you going to build? There's at least three (four if you include the Israeli T58 conversion) different particle seperator setups on the Frelon. The first ones seem to be just wire mesh (early Israeli). The second ones are more a FOD shielding around the intakes (mid Israeli, early South African) The most common ones seem to be real filter types (late Israeli, Libyan, Iraqi, Zaire, standard South African). The last ones are 'rotating air tube' types like on H-53, Westland Seaking and so on. These are only used on Israeli T58 conversions. Dennis
