Model Airplanes of course. Oh yeah and my wife.
  1. Click on the serial number and you'll be able to see all the pics for each bird on airliner.com.
  2. When I did mine, I used a mix of 3 parts ZC and 1 part Flat Black and then adjusted it from there until I got the shade I wanted. The milspecs for the interior called for a darkened shade of ZC and Northrop mixed their own in house so there was some variation. This will give you some room to play with.
  3. Just talked to Carl Brown (the guy in charge of this years fly-in) He just got confirmation that the P-40, P-63, B-25 and the An-2 will be here for the fly-in. The F4U will also be in attendance this year (but I still don't know which one). For those who missed my previous post on this, The airport where I work on the weekends is sponsoring a fly-in on May 20. For those wanting to fly here, the tower will be open for the day (it's usually closed on weekends). The info is KGVT and the tower frequency is 118.650. For those of you driving, we are located approximately 65 miles east of Dallas, Tx
  4. I get to see this plane every weekend. I work at the FBO on the South end of the ramp from L-3 (formerly Raytheon, formerly E-Systems) at Majors Field, Greenville, Tx (KGVT). When I came in this morning they had the airframe for the second conversion parked out on the ramp next to the first one. BTW, the Sentinel R.1 has been flying since September of last year. As soon as I can, I'll post some pics of it.
  5. I don't know, I like them all, but if I had to choose just one it would be the Sukhoi.
  6. Try this website. I've found it really useful for identifying aircraft and you can even find info on individual aircraft if he has info on it. http://users.rcn.com/jeremy.k/serialSearch.html
  7. I think that may be because of the forced perspective caused by the camera lense. That is a wickedly awesome series of pics.

    1/48 B25J Revell

Hello Sean. The guns in question will be the M2 .50 calibre or (in some cases) a .30 calibre. As far as replacements I can't think of anybody who makes them AM. Now I'm probably wrong about this as I'm trusting my memory. IF ROG has reissued the Monogram B-25J, would it be possible to get the pertinent parts from them??
  9. I worked at this museum as a volunteer back in the early eighties. I helped with the restoration on the T-33 and the F-80. I was there when the EC-121 and the F-105 were flown in. I'm still kinda bummed by the closure of McClellan. When I get a chance I'll try and scan some of the pics I took while I worked there.
  10. Thats just it, it was an in-store sale for items they were discontinuing. I went to another Hobby Lobby about seventy miles souoth of here yesterday after work and picked up another Minicraft 707 with Flying Tigers livery for four bucks. It was the only kit on the rack. Oh well, at least I got some paint I needed and got to see the country side!
  11. I used to live about three miles from the end of the runway there at Dyess (Airbase Dr and Chapel Hill Rd). I used to sit out at the end of the runway at a place called Key City Painting and I took a lot of pics of the Bones and Hercs flying into Dyess (and anything else in the pattern too). I'll have to see if I can get them scanned into the PC and get them posted here. Wish I had known you were there. Were you there when I was in 2003-2003?
  12. I went by Hobby Lobby last Monday to pick up some supplies. While there I just had to look at the sale rack in the aisle. I found an Academy B-377 Stratoliner in 1/72 for 16.00$ and a Minicraft B-707-420 in 1/144 with British Airways livery for 8.00$. When I got to the checkout counter and the clerk rung up my purchases, she took an additional 50% off of these prices!! I asked her about this and she told me that everything on that rack was being clearanced and was being deep discounted to get them out of the store. I went back to see if there was anything else that caught my eye but there w
  13. Just got off the phone with the CAF rep. The R4D-6S, BT-15 and the L-5 are confirmed for the fly-in. At the moment here, the rumour is that the L-3 Communications Beech Starship 2000 will be here also. We are still trying to get one of the RC-135W Rivet Joints on display and if possible one of the RAFs Sentinnel R.1 (this is the Brits baby AWACS based on the Global Challenger airframe, they are being manufactured here at Greenville). I'll try and keep this updated for everyone.
  14. When I came in to work today I found a whole stack of flyers announcing this years fly-in. Featured on this is a pic of the FG-1D Corsair that belongs to the CAF out of Lancaster, Tx. I wanted to share this with yall so that if anybody wants to come to it, you can start making your plans now. The fly-in will be May 20 and starts at 10 AM. The location is Majors Field (KGVT), Greenville, Texas. Drive-ins are welcome too. Last year we had the CAF R4D-6S here along with a MiG 17, L-39 Albatross, B-26, T-28 and a BT-15 on the civil side of things we had one of the last flying Beech Starship 2000s
  15. Not much happening at Majors Field, Greenville, Tx today because we have a direct cross wind of 20 kts gusting to over 40 kts, but I did have an "unmarked" VC-32 come through this morning going to the L3 end of the field. The only marks on it were the "United States Air Force" on the fuselage and the serial number on the tail. Typically on weekdays here I get to see RC-135U Rivet Joints, RC-135S Cobra Ball and the occasional VC-9C. Every so often we'll get the odd foreign A/C in here such as RAF E-3s, Nimrods, RNZAF C-130H and P-3Cs and very rarely a German Navy Breguet Atlantiqe. And I'm not
