  1. I have this kit, pricing is a bit "off". Other than that I'm ok with the kit. Might use aftermarket or rob an old Hasegawa kit for parts. As pointed out on another forum, it does look like the Kinetic Sabre, heavy lines, rivets, etc. In spite of that I've seen some pretty fantastic builds from the Sabre, some from ARC members. I think in time we'll see some nice Starfighter builds as well. JMO Don
  2. Will enjoy watching this one!! Don
  3. You learn something every day. When did they start using carbon fibre for the entire body? Is the tube CF as well or aluminum? Don
  4. Too bad about the wing assembly, Big. I know how frustrating that is. Hope you can recover. Don
  5. Ok, just saw the site, not too helpful. See what I can find. Don
  6. Hello sharkey!! I can't give you Vallejo colors. I used Lifecolor for the FS 36251, Lifecolor# UA 034. For thr lighter grey I used Tamiya XF-19 which is closer to FS 36231. This was my build done a while ago. I'm sure the Vallejo site can give you the correct #. Don
  7. I'm trying to marry into money, but having lousey luck at it. Until then i just budget for it from my pay. I have no other vices/hobbies/wife/kids/mortgage so other than living expenses which are low and tools for work affording the hobby is fairly painless. Don
  8. The dark red reminds me of a red brown. Tamiya bottles are XF-9 Hull Red, Flat Brown XF-10, Red Brown XF-64, Linoleum Deck Brown XF-79. HTH Don
  9. Thanks for the positives, guys!! I think the Matador was the name the Spanish Navy, Armada, gave the Harrier. IIRC there were markings in the Zotz decals for a Spanish bird. I enjoyed doing the racecar, was a great change from aircraft and also gave me an opportunity to see some really outstanding builds on F1M. Getting tired of doing aircraft, might shelve them and start doing cars instead. I'll finish up the F-15J Aggressor i'm doing and then the new Italeri F-104, then see about cars. Thanks to Biggasshamm for all his assistance in my Wolf WR1 build. Don
  10. It does look very sleek. Looks like it is a fast build. What parts are carbon fibre?, and do the aftermarket decals include coverage for all? Don
  11. Hello all!! I finished two builds this year, one aircraft, one car. Trumpeter 1/32 Harrier + in Italian Navy markings by Zotz decals. This one frustrated me, didn't hang any weapons. Other build is a 1/12 Tamiya F1 racecar, Wolf Racing WR1. This was done for the Open Wheel Group Build here on ARC. Don
  12. Yup!! I saw that at the MFH site, but at at least $500.00 it's way above my paygrade. That's why I'd like to see Tamiya do one of these. It would still be expensive, but more within reach. Don
  13. Great start to the build!! These are wild looking racecars!! I wish Tamiya would do this or the Red Bull car in 1/12. Will follow along. Don
  14. I have a 1/32 Tamiya F-15J I'm building as a JASDF Aggressor. I'm doing this on another sites group build, and might have too much done. Will see when the time comes. Don
  15. This is my experience as well. Tried different primers from the hardware store/home improvement stores and none of them worked as well as the Tamiya cans. I put a lot of time and cash into my builds, I don't want to cut corners on something that " works ok, maybe ". Tamiya stuff works right. All the time. Others may have success with others, i'll stick to Tamiya. Don
  16. Tamiya Surface Primer in spraycan. I'm a long time user of MM Acryl, never had problems until a year or two ago when paint lifted with tape. Now I prime most everything and have never had a problem since. I like to use Acryl because of the variety and easy cleanup with no fumes, so switching to a oil based paint wasn't an option. Don
  17. Well, just like my wolf build, I have decal problems with this one as well. Applied Microsol to settle a few areas and the decals wrinkled up. Don't know why this happened, though first time using these decals. I've used microsol on all kinds of decals with no problem, first time that I can recall they did this. Going to park this one for a bit, I know there are aftermarket dragster decals out there so this might get a name change. I think I'll go build a plane of some sort. Don
  18. Small update today. Finished painting the body and started decalling. Not so sure on accuracy as the pics provided show different schemes. There are other things as well, blame that on decals meant to fit inaccurate body/ body meant to fit inaccurate decals, take your pick. Colors look "off" , blue looks almost purple, red looks too light. One pics for the day. Don
  19. Couldn't have said it better. BTW, i'm sure the Challenger or Camaro along with maybe one or two others would fit the bill nicely. Don
  20. Not with Citadel paints, either. Suprisingly had good luck with Windex with citadel. Don
  21. My experience agrees. I've also replaced X-20A with MM Acryl thinner for the 4 listed paints. Don
  22. Yup!! Remember that well. Of course, where a 390 fit, a 428 would too. One of the worse cars I ever put headers on was the 390 Mustang. The shock towers, the bolts you couldn't get to... almost made me cry....
  23. 1968 390 GT Mustang.... now that brings back memories. Classmate in highschool had one with automatic, that thing was fast!! Don
  24. I'm getting old and fat, so a well rounded vehicle is important. A 2014 Shelby would be nice. High horsepower, handling, creature comforts, reliability... I know earlier models are closer to the traditional idea of a Mustang, but like i said, i'm getting old and fat.
