  1. So what is your favorite year/option mustang? Keep it to stock, unmodified. Everyone chime in.
  2. For me, red, gunmetal grey or Bullit green. Don
  3. I like it. I can see elements of many mustang versions blended together. Ya wanna see an ugly Mustang, try the 1974 Mustang Ghia. Would be nice to know what powertrains are available, especially if they're competing with the Camaro/Challenger. Don
  4. Agree with you, Bill. Thread became a problem when the "swordfighting" started. Don
  5. A locked topic is when the moderators "lock" a topic so no more replies can be posted. Usually happens when things go outside the posted guidelines or when posters get out of line. Spammers can trigger a lock out as well. Just take a look at your Paul Walker thread and you will see what i mean. Don
  6. Don't think i'll be adding any extra detail, 1/25 is very small. It would test my capabilities, dexterity and eyesight to add any more. I managed a little progress, the frame is basically two parts, the frame itself and the rollcage. Looking for online builds i understand that a lot of kits have twisted frames, mine is straight so i guess i lucked out. he body is simple as well. I'm going to build this with the body permanently attached so i glued all parts together. I did have to slot the body at the rear to fit over the axle stubs but these will be covered by the tires. This should also make
  7. Yup!! Those Citadel paints are outstanding!! The metallics are really fine grained as you found out. I use them on some of my NMF builds. Great progress. Don
  8. Looks great, big!! What color did you use on the exhaust? Don
  9. Great progress so far, Jake. I've heard the Fujimi kits were a little work intensive. Don
  10. Okay, took a small break and will do another build. This is a recent molding of a real old kit, i'm thinking the original is from the early to mid 70's. It definitley looks its age with very simple and crude parts. This is going to be a fast build, most of the stuff under the nose won't be seen. I've started out by stripping the chrome using oven cleaner. Don
  11. I think it's time to recycle some of the past group builds. I think we might be struggling to find new subjects that would appeal to a wider range of modellers. We have new kits, decals, aftermarket and new members now who may not have been around for the first go. It's no sin to do another F-14/15/16/18 or Third Reich GB or whatever else looks good. Myself, i really enjoy the GBs and participate in many, though lately what there is has had me looking at other sites for a GB i would enjoy participating in. Don
  12. Thanks Neo!! I'm happy with the results. The pictures are dark and the color doesn't lend itself to pics taken in the basement. Will try to get some outdoor pics, but weather is generally cloudy. Don
  13. I know there is a lot wrong with the kit, but i have built two. For the most part i did enjoy the builds, i just chose to ignore the inaccuracies. What i ended up with were two builds that to me look like Harriers, and i'm OK with that. Builders who have accuracy as a top priority will be disappointed, the choice is yours. Devilleader, looking forward to how you correct the kit, should be very interesting. Don
  14. You just never know, Big!! I think i'll move back to a plane or two then think about another car. I would like to do one of the old Revell 1/16 fuel dragsters, i remember when they were first sold, think i was 12-14 years. When i do another F1 i'm going to plan better now that i know what's out there. It would be great if Tamiya did a modern F1, would be a real challenge!! The tires should have stencilling, just one of many things on a list that didn't get done or didn't know about. There's also the hood pins, gas caps, mirrors that i lost, misaligned roolbar...... The decals, both kit and aft
  15. Finished the build tonight, some pics for the night.
  16. Be careful if you use laquer thinner to clean anything. It will melt plastic and will ruin the finish of furniture, especially your moms dining room table.....you can ask me how i know but you probably already know, now. I've also seen Windex cause some water or acrylic based furniture finishes to lose their gloss.... did that one too. Don
  17. Got around to applying decals to the nose and upper body. These are Indycal decals, and they worked really well. Very thin, in register, good color match. There is one complex area where the decal conformed ok, a little Microsol took care of it. Will let the decals dry, then clearcoat in one or two days. Should be done for the weekend. Don
  18. Great!! I was wondering if anyone would do a Ferrari. I've seen this kit and other Fujimi kits and been wondering how they are. Will follow to see how you find the build. Don
  19. Thanks, Big!! I really am enjoying the build in spite of the setbacks. Speaking of setbacks, i was looking at the decal placement guide when i noticed something. In the process of stripping the nose i lost one of the end plate. No big deal, i just made two more thinner ones out of sheet stock using the original as a pattern. Cut, filed, sanded and installed the plates....BACKWARDS!!! Nope, not going back on these, they're staying put. Don
  20. The engine/drivetrain assembly looks great, Big!!! They really are a complex subassembly. I like that careful painting and assembly gets you great results. Don
  21. I hear you Big!! I guess the aircraft modeller in me wants to weather the build. I did do some washes on the engine/transmission and other smaller areas. Today i finally sprayed the gold. I used Tamiya TS-21 spraybomb. I was going to decant and airbrush the gold on, in the end i masked, cleaned, held my breath and sprayed two coats. Stuff worked great with complete coverage. Color match is very close, after clearcoat it may be exact. Big, i should have taken your advice and sprayed the gold, Tamiya even included the decals for this option. Two pics. Hopefully i'll clearcoat tomorrow and d
  22. Done two Harriers, accuracy problems.... Gunpacks too narrow wrong shapes and the part that bridges them is misshaped. Has a single barrel muzzle, not the 5 barrel gatling gun it should be. Exhaust nozzles are the wrong shape and missing a LOT of external detail. Canopy is too wide at the rear, should come to a point sooner (if this makes sense). Pylons are just so wrong in shape... Drop tanks shapes wrong at the nose. Missing a lot of rivet detail behind the rear exhaust nozzles. Flaps can't be dropped without a lot of work, fairing shape off. The front and rear main wheels are just s
  23. Turkey stuffing sandwiches with gravy for dipping, roast beef with sauteed mushrooms and onions swiss cheese peppercorn gravy and horseradish mayo on ciabatta . Fried Spam with mayo and fried onions, Jamaican hot patties on cocoa bread with ginger beer. No wonder I need Lipitor. Fat Don
