So my understanding of the kit is that you can build block 30/40/50, but can you do a Block 52? I read that Block 50/52 are the same, just the engines are different, but both sets of parts are in the kit.   I want to do Thunderbird #7/8 ?

I can see if I can find the sprue shots but it has both the GE and Pratt engine/intake combination in this kit.

  2. My commander flies for Omni and he is trying to get a paint sample from them but they said the fuselage color is "Silver Mica". My issue is in 1/144 scale, any metallic flakes would be way out of scale. I am looking at different silvers but looking at photos, getting a right color seems difficult. At times it looks pearl white, other angles silver........I have orderered Xtracolor from Hannants or Roll models, will look into that.

Will do the Voodoo gray on the wings.

    Thanks!

  3. I am trying to nail the colors on an Omni Air 767 and I am having issues with a few of the colors. I think I have the Ruby Mica color, or something close.

One is the Silver Mica on the fuselage, trying to get a good match without the metallic?

Next is the wing, that does not have Coroguard. Any idea of what colors to use on the wing (top & bottom)?

  4. Just finished a build review for IPMS USA on this subject. I am not an expert on this subject but it is a nice looking kit but I am not sure where or why Tumpeter did some of the stuff they did....I wish I had the time to do the corrections that BK-117 did, very impressive!

    Rotor droop too excessive

Mod so rotor can rotate, kit had very shallow guide, poor design

  5. I will be building a 72 scale PBY for a Pearl Harbor survivor and he was pat of VP-14. I know Superscale make a set but I am not sure what time frame those are for.

Does anyone know of a set of decals for this time frame? I believe the tail had red & white stripes.

  6. Hi y'all. Some of you may remember me posting questions about the F-15E elsewhere, and yes that's because the F-15 is my favourite plane and I'm building it as my signature work. With that said, I'm gonna try to be as accurate, detail-oriented as I can to almost down to the rivet colors.

I will throw questions here for things I couldn't find a good answer to after researches, and I hope you guys can help me.

    1. For the LANTIRN navigational pod, I went through photos online and my own collection of pictures that I had taken when I went to the airshow. Some showed the pod with a creamy-orange color for the window, while the picture I took showed the window like a glass panel. While I'm inclined to paint it creamy-orange, what colours will you guys suggest? And why the differences?

The color differences are likely the different camera and lighting angles creating different colors of the coating in the glass. I would go with the orangish (clear orange that is) color.

    2. For the exhaust nozzles, instruction recommended Steel as the colour. However if I'm to be extra critical, I'm not sure if Steel is truly the right colour. What do you guys think?

Outer nozzles are titanium and inner surfaces are ceramic ciated and titanium, does not have to be a metallic color, just match photos. The E has two engine flavors, -220 and -229 Pratt engines unless you are building a Korean bird or Saudi SA version, then it is a GE engine which will be ceramic internal lining and titanium turkey feathers. Oh yea, there is Israel, Pratts with turkey feathers.

    3. After consultations with you guys on the CFT, I also studied the colours for the BRU and concluded the dials are silver while the platform is grey. I'm just wondering what you guys also think on this as well.

In addition to answering my questions, I hope this thread can also help anyone who's planning on a very serious build of the F-15E in the future.

    Thanks again!
