  1. I thought this might get wider coverage here than on the Automotive forum.
  2. Do car/auto modelers demand the amount of detail out of their automotive kit manufacturers as aircraft and armor modelers seem to demand from their manufacturers? Just curious. Seems like a lot of old reissue stuff for them.
  3. Tommy, I'd like that email if you wouldn't mind. I'll contact through messages here. Tnx.
  4. Still, did someone make a resin main gear wheel well either for the HB or Acad F-111 kits?
  5. I apologize habu2. I thought you were refering to me.
  6. Hi Tommy. I have your Ginter monograph on the F-111B. Not too thick because of the limited existance of the subject but full of info.
  7. I am not a bot. I've probably been on ARC longer than most here. Had to change my email address several years ago because I was hacked and couldn't get my account back. My former posts were under jpk and my email was krol@bellsouth.net. I went to Gmail after being unable to retrieve my account at Yahoo. I don't know where you got 11/13 and onl;y one post. I have quite a few posts.
  8. Are there any resin main gear wheel wells for the Academy kit? From what I remember it wasn't that great.
  9. Been thinking about getting a 1/48 F-111C to convert to a B, Navy version using the resin aftermarket parts from Reskit and Cat4. Which kit would be best to use, Academy or Hobby Boss?
  10. I am guessing that because of them getting the F-35B and C, they will not get Super Hornets.
  11. Do the Marines still fly the F-18C's and D's or have they transitioned solely to the F-35B?
  12. On my current FJ-3 build I am leaving out the gun bays, completely. I think it's the reason I couldn't get my forward fuselage halves to close up fully. I'm leaving them out and am only installing the cockpit. I have test fitted the cockpit and after some sanding down of the forward bulkhead, the forward fuselage closes up nicely now. That photo has some dust I should have cleaned off before I took the photo. The KH F-94 kit is pretty much an exact copy of the Collect Aire resin kit. The CA kit was designed by Dimitri of DMold when he was the master maker for the latter CA kits w
  13. I found, at least in the case of the fj-2 and 3, the kits were over and under engineered. The landing gear has plethora of tiny landing gear door retraction arms that are difficult to attach. The main gear bays are accurately textured, yet they messes up the nose gear oleo while the rest of the nose gear is a model itself. The cockpit is pretty accurate until you get to the turtle back which was blank. They include a complete engine when an intake and exhaust would have been good enough. The kits are well done but lacking in some places.
  14. I'm not arguing with you. Perhaps I misunderstood but I do not argue for arguments sake. All I'm saying is the last two pre production airframes had the revised nose radome. They did not have the raised canopy which would have been on the production machines. That's all. What is argumentative about that? Sounds like you're being overly sensitive and misunderstood my post. Please refer to page 45, middle photo in Ginter's F-111B book. It clearly shows the difference between the noses. Even the bottom photo shows it much more clearly..
  15. Yes, but they had the revise radome.
  16. Here's the latter canopy that would have been fitted to the production F-111B. This is from Tommy's Blog. Lots of good F-111B info at this Blog. Note the raised canopy. Also take note of the longer nose which was fitted to the last two pre-production machines.
  17. The preproduction airframes were quite different from the USAF versions. The 111B was going to have a much higher canopy to allow better vision over the nose for carrier approaches. It was also going to carry a later version of the Hughes radar So had a longer nose, similar to what was later found on the F-14A but not nearly as long as the USAF nose.
  18. I agree. A Tamiya F-35C would be a must have for my. I have the KH kit and it is...difficult.
  19. The Ginter book on the F-111B was written by Tommy Thomason of Tailhook Topics. Not one of Ginter's thicker books but lots of good information and pictures.
  20. Yes, Jeffrey has resurected the main gear well replacement/correction set for the Trumpeter A3D series of kits. I believe it is a ways off though. He is working on how to engineer the unit that will allow easier production of the parts. I'm sure he will lock it down at some point. I know I am looking forward to the set. I am sure he will knock it out of the park when finished.
  21. No love for the Monogram F-4J or F-4C/D?
