  1. Not to mention the blu rays don't play on computer blu ray players...
  2. Me too. As a matter of fact I have the theatrical release on DVD. B) Take care, Austin
  3. Ingenious idea. Definitely gonna use that for my 1/72 builds (MH-6J & OH-6A) Take care, Austin
  4. US Army Helo Drab (FS 36031/MM Acryl # 4723) is pretty much the perfect match to CARC green which is applied to US helicopters. When faded though, it'll turn to a lighter grey/OD. HTH, Austin
  5. Thanks! I used Mr. Surfacer instead of thick CA (doesn't that fog the clear parts, or is that just with the accelerant?) The UH-60A is pretty much ready for paint, just have to mask off the cabin... And the UH-60L is almost there. I need to add the steps as well as the antenna on the tail... I'm thinking plaster might be the easiest way to do the larger rocks as well as the cliff face. Thoughts? Take care, Austin
  6. Knowing nothing about Lynxes, I'd say it looks good! Is there an option to fold the rotors in that kit, or did you scratch that too? Take care, Austin
  7. Maybe I should read the entire thread before posting, as Dan 88 mentioned the same thing... Lemme make one thing perfectly clear. Make Black Hawks, not Tomcats :D Take care, Austin
  8. Hajo, I know what you mean, but I have another 3 years or so to wait... I've made some progress, kinda slow, at least of picture worthy stuff, but here's what I've done... I attached the glass. The -60L has a massive gap up top. Fun times ahead... Would strip styrene be the best option to start? Oh, and I painted some rotor stuff... Take care, Austin
  9. Quick fix - build helicopters :D Take care, Austin
  10. Awesome work! Nice Chinook as well, btw. Take care, Austin
  11. Ray, it's fine. I'll probably stick with 60's then... Hajo, that's great news! I just picked up a CH-53E for $25 from the LHS... The MH-53E was around $40... (I went in for paint & thinner, and walked out with 2 1/72 helicopters, go figure) Take care, Austin
  12. Great work so far! And like Ray said, what bird are you going to do? Take care, Austin
  13. The VIP pick up is interesting. Any background information? Are the two contractors hitching a ride on the skids? Take care, Austin
  14. I've started painting the rotors and a few other details that will be left off until after the rest of the birds get paint. Idea for a cliff? It's in a rough form right now, styene on the outside & balsa wood on the inside. I liked it when I was building it last night, but now it's kinda "meh"... I think I'll carve out the balsa and see how it looks from there... For the UH-60A, I tried to do a wheel bulge... And lastly, I completed the acquisition of kits/AM for my upcoming Vietnam subjects, however, I may add some along the way, you never know ;)/> Take care, Austin
  15. Glad to see you back and doing awesome work, both on the board and on the bench. BTW, did you get my PM regarding the CO-NG decals? Take care, Austin
  16. Thanks! I have plenty more in the stash, too :) Ray, it is the Revell kit. I built one in ODS colors for a group build a while back, but this next one should be on par with these hawks. Although, do you know if jolly greens ever carried miniguns? From every picture I have seen, it's only an M-60D... Take care, Austin
  17. Thanks guys! Ray, I got the tape idea from Oliver's engine work. I feel like it's like cheating to not go all out on dioramas... The other two 'hawks will be a bit less intensive, but I'll pick it back up again for the Vietnam dios... Hajo, That's good to hear. I need to pick up some styrene pilots for conversions. As far as Vietnam dios go, I think that was in the crowd-source thread as well. I have a few more ideas kicking around (involving an HH-3E), too. But for now, I need to figure out the ground work of this one... Take care, Austin
  18. It's near to the tail rotor on the sprue... http://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/aca/images/aca_uh-60l_parts2.jpg HTH, Austin
  19. Norbert, I don't know how I'm going to do this. I read and re-read how you did your beautiful Hind dio, but I don't know if that kind of rock formation is my ultimate goal... I should probably draw it out, that might help. Hajo, Thanks! How's the molding on the Revell pilots? It looks like there's flash on them on PSR... I got a little more work done. I've been adding exterior details. I've had my share of problems (you know when you try and glue a PE part to the model and you either get it on your first try or you're :explode:/> ). Only about half-way done with the UH-60A, the -
  20. I hope it makes the cut... Take care, Austin
  21. Me too. I'm off to the land of Army Hueys in late July, so we'll see... Would the external antenna configuration be the same between the Quickfix 2B and the Advanced Quickfix? Take care, Austin
  22. Thanks! I try to take in as much as I can from the best. Here's what I got done last night, nearly went cross-eyed, and it was pretty hard to photograph without better lighting conditions, but they still need some more work, the carrying handle, charging handle, spade grip, ammo bag. The ammo cans aren't pictured... Take care, Austin
  23. Yes & yes. Thanks! That build really got me hooked on dioramas... What's the advantage of putting the same cockpit as the helos in the MC-130H? Take care, Austin
  24. I am actually building one currently. It's a shame that there's some shape issues in that kit because there's some nice details... http://www.arcair.com/awa01/301-400/awa338-MH-60L/00.shtm That walkaround has some nice underside shots as far as the rivets go. http://www.flickr.com/photos/marinehawk12/ Check out his photostream, there are some really nice pics UH-60A/UH-60Ls pretty much from all angles (a few topside, too). search flickr for more pics, too. There's a surprising amount on there that google won't pic up... Hope that's a start... Take care, Austin
  25. Always love detailed builds, esp with the that ugly kit to make it a stunning model. And ditto on the thread title... Take care, Austin
