  1. My first '72 scale modell for like forever. I guess 20 years or so. I usually build 1/48th and '32nd scale Italeri UH-1b made as one of those that served with the UN - Norwegian contingent in Lebanon in the late 70's
  2. Thanks guys :) I'm recovering from surgery so I'm bored outta my scull. And a "Simple" tamiya kit like this is no problem doing in three nights when I put my mind to it. The cocpit assembles and is ready for paint in 30-35 minutes, and using acryllics they dry very fast. I even used retarder for some of it to buy me more time. A friend of mine made a P-51D Mustang in '48th in less than 24 hours complete with all and also that modell won awards so with an easy to assemble kit like most Tamiya '48th kits are its' totally possible to make it into a winner in a short amount of time. Now I'
  3. Chalk up another one, Tamiya P-47 thunderbolt is an overall painless and quick build, I spent 3 nights on this one inkluding paint, details and decals. I dos't get any better than that
  4. My BF-109 G-10 R3 by revell in '32nd scale. Built out of the box with decals from EagleCalls. A strait up very enjoyable build, . the new revell '32nd scale kits are very good value for cash at about 20£ . it builds up easly have som very nice detailing. Not Tamiya by a long shot, but pritty damn good. I have sevral more G-6 in my stash along with a cupple of MK II Spitfires. I have no problem recomending this kit, decals are readly avaleble aswell as Photoetch details Paints by Vallejo , Humbrol, Games workshop and Tamiya Here is some text and pictures of the real plane. The history
  5. The SAAB Safir (Saphire) served with the Norwegian airforce for decades and is still a common sight all over scandinavia as private planes. This model is the recent '48th scale offering from Swedish company "Tarangus", in '48th scale it's a typical limited run kit. It features recessed panel lines, some fine raised detaling, the cocpit is decent but could do with some more detalilng. The fit is dreadfull, espessialy arround the cocpit. there is no option for an open window and although the glass is clear the one piece moulding could use a cupple of layers of gloss coat. I built this OO
  6. So here we go again.. just finished a Norwegian viper and I found out a new project 1/32'nd scale F-5A Freedomfighter, Nowegian airforce Tigermeet 1997. This paint is just awsome. So how do one make a model that does not exist ? well actually it does, but it's one helluva job. First you take the good'ol Hasegawa F-5E , and Belcher bits F-5A convertion resin set. then start cutting an gutting. The main fuslage needs to be replaced, aswell as the tip of the nose and the airscoops. this the resin set takes care of. Basicly you chuck half the E-modell in the bin.. The wings needs
  7. So I finally finished this one and I'm really glad to get it done. This build has been a PITA from start to finish. I used the Academy Sufa kit for a base and the copy I got is the worst I 've ever had. Loads of flash and many of the major parts including airintake, both fuselageparts and the landinggear was warped. this along with the PWMP tail wich did not fit one bit and thus was another PITA to get to fit just right. and it took alotta filler to get it to look fearly decent. I've only taken one pic yet, maybe I'l get arround to take some more, but right now I dont wanna look anymor
  8. thanks :) I've been doin this off and on for almost 30 years now. Well 25 atleast. :)
  9. Diamondback, thanks for the heads' up :) I checked a bunch of pics and also from what I remember to have seen live and they was always there. So I figured to add them on. obviusly you dont want radar reflectors on a combat mission ;)
  10. Thanks guys :) First a base coat of Tamiya primer, then preshade using german gray, after that Tamiya Nato Black, a cupple of layers of future for decal prep. After the decals was done and sealed with more future. Then 5 very thin layers of Tamiya flat coat, and for the finale, highlighting and overspray using Tamiya Rubber black.
  11. I recently won a Tamiya F-117 on ebay , at a very good price.. 12usd + a relativly low shipping cost and I was on. I decided to build "Vega31" the first F-117 lost in combat. I also tried to recreate the deadflat finish on the F-117, I've seen the thing on Nellis a cupple of times. But that does not make me an expert by a long shot. Anyhow this is how it turned out.
  12. Why thank you.. what a nice thing to say you.. (insert not polite nickname derived from what just came outta my dogs behind..) .. if we all did that how many forums would still be up ? I've been modeling since I was 8 so, that's 30 years on the bench, and very seldom do I complain about a kit, but this one I felt needed some heat.. I never said anything about not mastering or overcoming the obstacles. the challange is there and I've got the damn thing together, however these are issues I'd expect from a limited run half product. Not a brand spanking new hightech presition molded kit.
  13. Been spending my saturday night filling and sanding, and still have ways to go. the wings and tail sections need some more , also the radome need some work.
  14. The Mig-25 is one of the jet's I've been wanting to build for a good many years. It was almonst enigmatic when I grew up in the 80's and 90's and I never did see one up close on pictures and got to study it. Just saw some blurry pics, but it got my intrest peeked. Now kittyhawk released a brand new 2013/2014 modell in my fav.scale and I was thrilled.. but that thrill has turned to.. well suffice to say.. it's gone This kit is the worst piece of sjeit I've seen in a very long time.. I don't mind braking out the filler and sandpaper, but WTF.. The lower and upper fuselage parts does not eve
  15. Very nice lookin Zipper, exelent job on the paintwork :)
  16. thanks :) That has been a signature mark of the RNoAF for many many years , most of the Norwegian fighters has been and are beeing kept very clean. This is a tradition that spans back from WW2. The Norwegian pilots found that a clean spitfire was both faster and handled better than a dirty one. So quite often both pilots and crew was scrubbing the planes keeping them as clean as possible. theis tradition has been maintaned in the Norwegian Airforce ever sinse. You can find pics of dirty planes, but these in my experiance (as former Viper crew) has been taken in connection with livefire
  17. That satisfaction of presenting a compleated build is just an awsome feeling. Espessialy when it's a kit I've put some effort into. This is my second '32nd scale Italeri Zipper and it wont be the last, still got two more in my stash. For this build I chose a CF-104. The Norwegian airforce purchased second hand CF-104's from Canada, they had been in storage for some time and Norway needed a squadron of Zippers so it was decied to put some mothballed ones from Canada to good use. They served with 334th sqd in Bodo for the better part of a decade until they was replaced by F-16's and this tr
  18. Been working on the decala along with some detailing in the landing gear. Slow progress now as I'm busy with work so I dont' get to many hours on the bench.
  19. Naturally alittle weathering, but very subtile on this one. Some more work done, gloss coated the jet, and painted the C2 seat, it still needs a wash and some highlight but I did't wanna do that at 04:20 AM last night
  20. More work done tonight. main sceeme is on, some light post shade and colorajustment, along with masking and painting the radome, antiglare and airintakes.
  21. Thanks dude :) This is gonna be a green CF-104 (tail 755). 334th sqd, ca 1980. I finished a F-104G jan 1st same kit, same scale just different markings. (NMF color) http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=271372
  22. Thanks dude :) Now it's coming together, I've used the wings, tailsection and parts of the fuslage for paint testing. Now I'm gonna prime her, polish and get the proper paintwork down.
  23. I've got some work done the last cupple of days. Mixing the color for this jet took me many hours ,but I think I've got it.. Today I've prepared the glareshield, the RNoAF CF-104's had some extra boxes and stuff on the glareshield. I've scratchbuilt these using small bits of plastic, a piece of a coctailstick and some copperwire. Now it's time for a coat of flat varnish, then the canopyparts , windscreen, sand down any spots I've missed and then for the fun part.. start painting this sucker..
  24. and the work continues, cocpit is coming along nicely.
  25. Flow line flaws ? I dont think I ever noticed it, it's been a while since I did this particular model but any flaw I usually correct it I have done 5 of these now + a two seater and I cant say I noticed any major flaws exept for that irritating way the engines are built up.
