Just checked, and only have partial unfortunately. I buildt 81-0062 and 85-0130 myself, hence only having 82-0046 and 85-0133 from 48-021. Sorry.

I just checked my stash, the only one I have is from my old Academy F-15C MSIP II, that is only for the C model. Guess I'll have to do some more digging in my stash and online

out of curiosity, being a former F-15 maintainer, I googled F-15D and got lots of photos. But they may not be what you were looking for or you checked google too. Found there were a lot of changes since 91.

I can find lots of front cockpit photos, but nothing for the rear. I bought another Academy F-15E in 1/48 scale. Bought it mainly for weapons and decals. I have left over weapons from other F-15 kits also. I was told the Academy kit doesnt truly represent the true shape of an F-15e, but was told it will make a good F-15D model. I also bought the eduard kit with all resin and PE parts but might make that an Isreali F-15D.

  3. I had asked a simular question about the infrared seeker heads on the AGM 65 Maverick missiles. One guy mentioned mixing Tamiya clear orange and Tamiya clear blue together made like this greenish brownish color. I supposed you could play with the ratios and decide for yourself. Looks pretty close

Unless they've revised the molds the engine "humps" on the upper rear fuselage are incorrectly shaped.  The (old) E kit I have is a B/D airframe with CFTs and weapons, not a true E.

Then it might make a pretty D model then. I didn't know about the engine humps. Thought they were all the same

  5. What is everyone's opinion on the Academy F-15E in 1/48? I have built 1 already but I think the kit might make a good representation of a F-15D. Has all the cockpit instrument panels, not sure about the side consoles though?  Has all the modern weapons. Just a thought

According to the Wolfpack page, the 1/48 F-15C MSIP II conversion is discontinued, so unless someone has has old stock lying around, your only source is likely the secondary market.

I have some left over sprues from some Academy kits that I can use all the proper missile rails, blade attenas and such. Where would one look for some pictures of modern F-15C MSIP II? Need to locate all the antennas and such. Will have to make a GPS dome from scratch I guess.

    Thanks

yes the ones with the Hasegawa kit are the SJU-5/6 i believe, which was used on early Hornets. later ones are SJU-17, though i'm not sure when exactly the change to these seats were made or whether they were on any of the C/D models.

Sure looks like it from the videos i have been watching of marine corp F18C and D Hornets. May have to forego the pilot figures. The resin seats have a lot of cool details

the late D model has control sticks on both side consoles. there's no control stick in the center, but there is the mount for one on the floor. no throttle, and a different instrument panel& glare shield.

iirc some early D models still retained the center control stick, throttle, glare shield and instrument panel like the B models have. according to Quinta's cockpit decal set Bu.No's 163434 thru 163778 have this setup.

the parts that come with the hasegawa kit are basically for a B/early D type and this is also true for the Eduard cockpit PE.

I would also assume that the ejection seats that come in the kit are not the correct ones either? I have the Wolfpack Designs update kit for this particular model kit with all the corrected parts along with the ejection seats. I was hoping to use pilot figures in this kit but with the resin seats, will have to file and sand off all the seat belts

Thank you for the info. Didnt know about control stick on the right side

  10. I am worling on said model. Using the Eduard zoom color photo etch for the cockpit. Instructions say for the rear cockpit, to cit the control portion of the control stick and place on the left console. I am assuming for weapons control and controllong FLIR pod. The pilot or weapon systrm officer in back seat can not fly thr aircraft or is that control stick on left side console capable of flying aircraft?

    Thanks

If it gives you any indication, the Tamiya kit has flat panels with regular (not 3D) decals for the instrument panel and side consoles.  That’s how old it is.

Hasegawa is better by a lot, but Great Wall is the best.  I understand your point about China, but it’s the world we live in.  Great Wall is doing really good work, and I don’t mind supporting people who do good work, no matter where they are.

Understand completely. I have a bunch of sprues from the academy kits with all the proper attennas and such to do a modern F15C. Just going to have to do research via images of modern F15 to make sure i get all the attennas in place correctly. Should get my hasegawa kit next week. Bought off ebay
