Looking for Canadian LHS That Sells Aftermarket
Scooby replied to Brad-M's topic in General Discussion
I know this isn’t the answer you are looking for, but you could ask this Canadian shop to bring it in. https://www.greathobbies.com/search/results/?srchtype=QuickSearch&srchlimit=50&srchdep=&srchimg=0&srchstk=0&srchdes=Eduard&QuickSearchButton=Find They have all the Eduard sets listed, but only one in stock (in the past they have had a lot of kits). I find once this company is asked to stock products they bring it in. They have 6 or 7 shops now and a large warehouse in the Maritimes. They have a good stock of AK products, including th -
My first choice for products shipped to Canada, they have everything, prices are great, and shipping is affordable. Recently I had a large shipment which included a kit and lots of aftermarket ship to Canada for less that the price of a photo-etch set shipment quote from the States.
-
I ‘know both the owners well, both have full time jobs in healthcare. I do know they sell out fast of those Mustang decals, last time they re-released them I bought multiple sets.
-
I have two in hand, waiting for the Eduard sets due for release in January and I’m also waiting for decals to be printed (I know who producing these decals but can’t say who or what).

No trouble at all, happy to help. Definitely bare metal, it wasn’t painted.
-
The last aircraft did have them, it was the last FAT ALBERT that performed JATO.
-
I was only answering your question if they had the brackets installed. Which the answer is yes. See my latest reply in regards to the last year they did JATO. And yes those parts are for the bottles. I’m an ex-Herc maintainer.
-
2009 is the last year JATO was carried out. Fat Albert first performed a JATO take-off in 1975. The C-130 they retired in 2019 was the same Herc that last performed JATO in 2009. Not only did it bend airframes, they ran out of bottles that year too. The bottles were last produced during the Vietnam War. https://theaviationgeekclub.com/blue-angels-fat-albert-retired/ I have a feeling all FAT ALBERTS had the JATO doors except for the latest J.
-
Plenty of online pictures of Fat Albert JATO takeoffs and the brackets being in place, I’m not sure about the J though.

He was a Pearl Harbor survivor. I only met him over the years at the Visitor Centre, he was a very kind gentle man. I just googled his name and he has passed away. Alfred B. K. Rodrigues https://www.stripes.com/news/pacific/pearl-harbor-survivor-hawaii-native-dies-at-age-99-1.570669

If those are the only two who are still with us it must sadly mean the survivor I know is gone.

Hasegawa A-4 builders: the PITA of those kits

Did you need to install a lock on the speed break? On Hornets we did. I look forward to your guide. -
A good starter kit cost wise, modern tooling, of a modern jet, for a junior modeler? I’d recommend a 1/48 Revell Super Hornet.

I reshape them with a sanding stick. To position them after I place a piece of putty under them to line them up flush, then apply super thin cement. I didn’t work Skyhawks, but I doubt they can deploy just cracked open. The jets I worked on needed hydraulic pressure to open and to remain out. With power off only stayed open if you put a lock on the actuator while you had hydraulic pressure applied. -

I worked Herc’s for a good part of my Airforce career and it’s still my first love. After I retired I went to work for an Air Ambulance group and we had new AW-139s, they were the Ferrari’s of our fleet and an awesome airframe. We also have BK-117s which we are now replacing with new Airbus H-145 helo’s. You’ll enjoy the 139. -
I might have it too, let me know if you found it.

Fabulous work!

Cardboard covers, bend a piece of cardboard over the leading edge and tape in place. I’m sure others will have methods. -

Good to hear, I just ordered their new CH-135 Twin Huey set.

Are they Peddington decals, or are they higher quality? Thanks!
