I can pile on to what Scooby said about Billie Flynn and Julie Payette.

I don't know Payette well, but I did interact with her briefly at the Mirabel airshow in 1996, the year I retired from the military. Chris Hadfield, and old friend, was at the show, and I was with my 3-year-old son with the 'unwashed masses' of the public. I spotted Julie Payette in a golf cart, being driven somewhere, but was blocked by a bunch of people shuffling slowly along her route. I politely asked her (in French, her first language) if she could please take my business card to Chris, and ask him to call me - perhaps we could meet for a beer. I explained that Chris and I were in the Air Force together for years. She just stared at me, refused to take the card, and asked 'Do I look like a secretary?' Yes, she is a Class A bad girl. Period. I've attended many, many, airshows as a participant, and we all know that the public's impression of the military is coloured by the way that we, as participants, are gracious and patient with them. Her arrogant, haughty attitude was very typical of her approach to all of humanity. Trudeau picked her because: 1. Female 2. Astronaut 3. Quebecer 4. His wife was in awe of Payette. Zero vetting, no proper hiring process.

Billie? A prince of a guy. Knows his stuff. He does state that the F-35 is the best fighter Canada could buy - not because he is selling them, but because he cares about Canada's combat capability, and cares about those in our military who are carrying the torch we passed to them. He is also telling the truth. I've known him since before he got his Wings - a more honest, straight-shooting guy never walked the Earth. For those who don't know him, sure, call him a Fan Boy or a shiller. I call him an expert who has flown Hornets, F-16s, and F-35s. Few people on the planet are better placed than him to have an opinion on this subject, and few are as honest as he is.

Doesn’t surprise me what you added about Payette.

And what you said about Billie is what I was trying to say, he cares about Canada and our Airforce, he wants the best for us. He isn’t a salesman, he’s a fighter pilot, a test pilot. And he is an honest man.

It looks like these decals will not arrive before the second half of May - I will try my best to make them available as soon as they are ready.

Any previews? A group of us nuts have been patiently waiting for the F-22 sheet!

In this case GG Payette was NOT some one who you wished to work for. MANY validated complaints from MANY different government employees. As the Queens representative in her role of Governor General she is held to a much higher standard. One she did not handle well at all. I have never heard of a Governor General being asked to step down before.  It was rather big news in Canada a couple years ago.

She was a miserable person well before that. When the GG news broke my two daughters acknowledged that I had been saying what she was like for at least a decade. I was shocked when she was selected for GG because her demeanor was well known in advance.

She had just killed a pedestrian at the time of the announcement for GG and initially she was charged, although she was eventually cleared of responsibility.

Hmm....    If you're a guy, you're just a hard charging stud who holds people accountable.   If you're a female, you're a witch / bad girl.

Flynn has an amazing background as a pilot, just need to know going into that he's in sales, so by default need to take everything he's saying with at least a small grain of salt.

A squadron mate and I were assigned as escorts for Neil Armstrong and Julie Payette, I was the lucky one, I got the nice guy, the humble down to earth person. I picked him up at his hotel for four days and drove him to the events he was guest speaker at. He was always on time, we went for coffee and meals together, you’d never know he was the first man on the moon, he was a kind hearted gentle soul.

My squadron mate probably still has PTSD from dealing with Julie. Always late, totally miserable, vulgar, he bought her a Starbucks coffee one day, she threw it at him and cussed him because it was cold.

I could tell another story about a cast iron frying pan but I better not.

Flynn is no longer with the company, he is retired. The fabric that he comes from is he is a hard nosed fighter pilot, if there was something better than the F-35 he would say so. Our entire fighter community in Canada is behind the F-35 purchase. You don’t buy military equipment for todays wars against a weak adversary, you buy it for future wars against your absolutely toughest adversary. If you want to send you sons and daughters to war, give them the best equipment to permit them the best option to come home, the F-35 is that technology.

    Beer fridge - yes.

I need space. currently, working with this:

I want room for instructions, spreading out sprues, and for foil. Now, I find myself with zero space, and it really causes problems.

Great ideas, folks! I like the paint arrangement. Something like a Lazy Susan with racks around the outside sounds good.

I have a Tamiya paint rack for my paint.

Resurrecting this thread for this article.  This pilot seems like a real F-35 cheerleader, but I still think some of the insights are interesting, and more detail about some things than I was expecting.

A few of us who are members here served with Flynn, he is an excellent well experienced fighter pilot. He served in the RCAF, and on exchange with the RAF and USAF. He flown flown most of the current modern frontline fighters, so he can speak from experience. He was also the Chief Pilot in the F-35 program.

He was also previously married to Canadian Astronaut, and real world witch, Julie Payette.

  7. Congrats, exciting times. I did the same. My modeling friends bug me that my room is too nice.

See if you can get the builder to put in a exhaust vent duct for your booth. The other option is a window vent, have one that you can change through the seasons.

For tool storage you may want to look at kitchen cabinets, you could even design a work bench from what is offered these days. So many custom options, IKEA has nice kitchen stuff now.

I bought some very nice display cabinets from a store fixture store, but if able get display cabinets custom built into the walls. I wish I had done that.

When our girls finished university and moved out I gained one of their rooms, I fully renovated it into my Spitfire Cave, I’m spoiled, two man caves. No buildingithis second room, only display and aviation art. Plus three computer desks (wife, son, me).

  8. I saw a build in the last week where the builder solved this issue, I think it was at Brexit modeler. The issue is actually at the back of the fuselage. He offset that join by shaving it down. He glued the fuselage top and bottom starting at the front and worked his way back. I’ll see if I can find the build, the visuals will explain it better.

I am alive and recovering from COVID>

I have been working 4 jobs / 7 days a week for a total of 105 hours a week.  ARC takes 40 hours a week to do properly, so obviously there was no time to do ARC.  I have dropped 2 of my jobs to free up time on the weekends.  I am hoping to get back into ARC by doing an update each weekend just to keep the homepage mildly active.

I lost my main job (Tour bus driver for cruise ship passengers in my city) when covid hit.  I decided to take a year off when covid arrived as the dangers of covid seemed rather serious in the first year. My wife also took a year off.  Obviously this didn't do our finances any good.  I had covid a few weeks ago and the current variant seems quite mild.  My energy levels are still a bit on the low side but I'm resting as much as I can.

ARC will be back to daily updates in the future, but that won't be for a while.  ARC income covers the server fees and nothing more.  So any time I spend on ARC is unpaid time.  I work 2 full time jobs during the week and now that I have dumped my 2 part time weekend jobs, I hope to get more rest.

I am carrying around a large high interest debt that I am heavily focused on getting rid of.  ARC has to be a secondary priority to that.  I am hoping to upgrade both of my full time jobs to higher paying jobs in the coming months.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

I hope things slow for you and go back to normal. Welcome back (one foot in the door at least).

“Disappointing to see this thread deteriorating into a slap fight between two people.  More disappointing that one of the people keeping it going is a mod.”

Seems like only one side is slapping.  The other is emitting a constant high pitched noise, but it’s common for that variant.

Anyway, how ‘bout that upcoming NFL draft?

    110%.

    Hello All

Does anyone make a Augusta Westland AW-139? I have seen the Victorian Air Ambulance version (Australia) I would like to have a go at one, if one exists? Not fussed on scale, at the moment, just seeing if its available in a kit. Thanks

    Ash

Nope, I wish they did, my organization in Canada used to fly them. We actually did a little work with Victorian before we bought them. We have since bought new EC-145s.

Ok, wow, I was not aware they had lost all the aircraft that were serviceable and active. I guess it's now the Su-27 then.

    Thanks

They haven’t lost all their Mig-29s, they are limited when they are flown and they are keeping them in Western Ukraine, Russia claimed to shoot down two of them April 17th.

What they acquired in 1991 were 913s. Most were upgraded in Kyiv in 2020, to unique Ukrainian designations.

Thanks Mr. Happy. I have been slacking off lately - we're busy acquiring a new house, hosting family, and a bunch of other things. Back to the bench in a few days, I hope.

Good luck on the new Castle, make sure it has a spray booth exhaust and built in display cabinets. 😳
