  1. Thanks for the input. After looking up many more pictures, it will be the reverse side. I also really like the idea of working with the grain. Better get busy. Thanks again!! Paul

    P-51D question

Hi all!! I've prepped the wings according to the book of Wise - thank you for helping me to avoid a horrible mistake. I want to do the fuselage in foil. Do you think that the bright side is maybe too bright? I've seen pictures of Mustangs that seem almost that shiney but I've been having thoughts about using the reverse of the foil. What do you guys think? Do I " pimp my 'stang" or go subtle? Paul
  3. Thank you again Barney!! I will be checking out those decals. Who knows? Maybe I'll have my own airforce someday. Cheers Paul
  4. Hi all, Does anyone know of a source for Trans Canada Airline decals. I want to start on a DC-3 and would love to do early TCA. Canadian Pacific would also suit. Thanks Paul
  5. Got a package with some of Mr. Belcher's bits. A very nice decal kit for my CF-5d. Sheets for all of the schemes were included and the decal images are crisp and nicely registered. I'm sure I'll be getting more from this supplier. ;)
  6. Don't need no steeeeeencking plastic!!! NICE JOB. How long did you spend? ;)
  7. Visited Bill at Collectors Lane and left with an ESCI Red Indian Squadron CF104. The sale was supposed to be 40% off, but Bill sold it for 40% of the price. How could I refuse!! The homefront accounting department couldn't even complain. Gotta love it. :D
  8. :D Good points guys. Looks like it's pirme and paint for me Thanks for your input Cheers
  9. Afternoon all!! Went to visit Bill at Collecters Lane yesterday and had to bring home an ESCI CF104 Red Indian. When I got home with it, I opened my new prize and found it all molded in red. Should I paint the kit anyway or is the red plastic a good match? Sure has a smooth finish. Any recommendations?
  10. Wooooooo nice site I'll bnook this for sure Thanks Duane
  11. Hello all I've progressed on the CF100 to the point where I'm painting! Many thanks to the people on this forum who have helped me so far. I've sraightened the warped wings, cut off the wing tip extensions to use the large wingtip tanks and so far managed to wrestle this kit into submission. Phew!! I picked up MM 28913 flourescent red-orange for the markings and to these tired old eyes this colour looks more orange than I expected. Has anyone else been down this road? Should I add more red to my paint, or should I have my eyes checked for colour perception.
  12. Package in the post today from BC 3 1/48 Tamiya kits - 2 Spitfires MK 1 & MK V and a Gloster Meteor. So much for doing only 1/72.
  13. Double WOW!!!! That is amazing. I've just had a eureka moment. First thing tomorrow I have to find some foamcore and start ste designing. This just gets better and better. THANK YOU FOR SHARING
  14. Thanks Guys!! Guess I better work on straightening those wings. <_< Thanks also for the pictures. I'll post results when I finish up.
  15. Does anyone know if the CF100 had wings that droop slightly towards the tips. I'm working on a Hobbycraft kit and both wings have the same droop. With the large wingtip tanks this almost seems reasonable to me when the aircraft is on the ground. Is my imagination working too hard? Should I start the straightening procedure without delay. Would appreciate any input on this.
  16. Hello all Just thought I'de share a well kept secret in the Toronto area. The Markham Airport, a small grass field, has a growing collection of Canadian aircraft on its' property. These are just sitting there and you are welcome to get up close and explore. Check out these tasty treats.
  17. 40 RAF personel from a seller in UK. They will be attached to a unit here as part of the Commonwealth Air Training Plan. The outfit they will be with is flying Tiger Moths from a club field. Maybe Rexdale?
