  1. Tamiya’s F-4B kit has, as noted, both slotted and unslotted stabs. It also has Navy and AF style seat cushions, and the F-4C/D style landing and taxi light on the clear parts tree. So this is more than “parts breakdown” - it is *actual* parts only applicable to an F-4C/D. I truly don’t believe Tamiya would have bothered tooling both stabs, a separate right forward fuselage (with the Navy-only refueling probe), and the other bits mentioned if they didn’t plan on more than one version. It would have been a huge waste of resources.
  2. Hasegawa recce Phantoms have fighter Phantom lower wings. They give you inserts to fill the Sparrow wells that don’t fit at all. I’d hardly say they’re hard to beat. That’s a massive inaccuracy, and a cop out by Hasegawa. Even with ZM’s problems, theirs will be light years ahead of Hasegawa’s.
  3. The Tamiya kit is far more accurate than the Meng kit. The surface detail is still (IMHO) overdone when compared to looking at the real airplane close up, but the kit literally builds itself. It’s worth buying just to marvel at the engineering and fit.
  4. Surprised to see no comments now that the kit is on the streets. It’s very nice, and easily the best Mk.I ever in 1/32. Not perfect, but nothing ever is.
  5. The majority of B-26Bs were built with the long wing. B-10s through B-55s had the long wing.
  6. I purchased one as soon as it became available, and I recall jumping up and down with joy. Our standards were different 40 years ago.
  7. It is genuine. They did some spooky stuff with them before the fall of the Shah.
  8. T-33 “late” includes the late style pitot tubes (one on each side below the windscreen) in place of the “L” shaped one under the nose. There are also some small “fish gill” type vents at the upper rear end of the gun bay doors, and I believe the nose wheel is different. Fun fact: T-33s and F-86s had interchangeable nose wheels, and all the types seen on one could be seen on the other.
