  1. Coming along nicely, Bastian. Turning a sow's ear into a silk purse. Good job.
  2. Glad you found the Nexcare tape. I've found that a roll will last for many models. I hope it works well for you.
  3. Nice job on the wing gap. It's a pain. A nice thin layer of Tamiya putty, with the excess removed by a Qtip wet with nail polish remover, should yield a relatively smooth join.
  4. Are you looking for set #10? I have a local shop here in Ottawa that stocks EZ Masks. I can go there early next week to see if they have it. Send me a PM if you're interested.
  5. I use this. You can cut it into thin strips. Lessen the tackiness and the amount of residue on the model by placing sticky side down on your pants once or twice. It'll give you a hard demarcation line but with practice I'm sure you could probably make the lines a little softer. It's great for going around compound curves such as the transition between wing and fuselage and over the tail area on this Sabre I built. Hope this helps.
  6. Nice work but don't forget to sand off the slime lights on the vertical stab, both sides of the fuselage and both sides of the nose. Canadian Voodoos didn't have them. You should also remove the blade antenna immediately behind the first piece of tape behind the cockpit. Just an FYI in case you're looking a for a bit more realism. Mike
  7. Send me a PM with your address. I have a couple of 'RCAF' tiles from and old Leading Edge set I can send, in case there's another decal disaster. No charge. Just pay it forward. Mike
  8. Ouch. Not me. In 2002 I was in Collision Investigations. Chances of me giving anyone a ticket was pretty slim. I always got crap from my supervisors saying I needed to give out more tickets. I was never a big ticket guy. Almost everyone got off with a warning.
  9. Hi Don. Unfortunately I won't be there. Have a great day.
  10. Long Island was West Division (old OPP Manotick jurisdiction prior to amalgamation in 1995). I started with Gloucester in 1984. We patrolled Nicolls Island and the east side of the river, north of Mitch Owens Rd. With the exception of about seven years (cumulatively in different sections), I spent my entire career in that area, east of the river. I retired in 2016.
  11. Nice. Bill's place is my go to now. He has a build night every second Thursday and a bunch of us get together there often. I go to Hobby House on occasion (it's closer as I live in Orleans) but Hobby Center has a greater selection of just about everything. BTW, part of Manotick was in my patrol area. Were you on the east or west side of the river? I was mostly on the east side but every once in a while went over to West Division to help out when things got busy over there.
  12. First one I remember visiting here in Ottawa is Hobby House when they were located on Rideau St in the early 70s. I also used to frequent Hobbyland, Simpson-Sears and K-Mart. There was also a book store (Coles, I think) in one of our major malls and they had a large selection of models and supplies on the lower level. Sadly, all but Hobby House are gone.
  13. I hope you get over that bug completely Steve. There a nasty one going around here too. Best wishes to you and your family for a happy and joyous 2023. Take care.
  14. I saw that post over on FB. Simply amazing. Trying to profit before the bubble bursts. And that's encouraging news on the price point. Thanks for the heads up on that one, CK.
  15. You did a good and honourable thing in your listing price, Scooby and you made out well. Good for you. You have no control over what a buyer will pay but to list a kit at those exorbitant prices in the first place is obscene. You're right; pure greed. If a buyer is willing to spend that much money for what is essentially a $30 - $40 kit, I shake my head.
  16. Cosford's Me-410 is unrestored. Here's a few photos I took years ago. Hope this helps you.
  17. This kit I'd pay $100 Cdn for. For those hoarders of the ancient and lackluster Hobbycraft Canada kit who are asking stupid money ($100 - $200 US) for them - as if that's how they're going to fund their retirement - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Take that!
  18. 👍 I'm going to finish the two I have on the go now Spitfire XIV and Sabre 5 (both Academy in 48th scale) and then I have no idea what I'm going to start after I finish those. It'll be a jet though because I like to alternate...jet then prop. Maybe a CF-104...maybe a CF-18...maybe a CF-100...maybe a CF-101...so many decisions.
  19. Thanh, Glad to hear that Canada Post and USPS delivered within a reasonable time and I'm happy I could help. Take care. Mike
  20. Got you covered. PM me your address. No charge. Just pay it forward when someone else asks for help. Mike
  21. Finished this kit yesterday. A few minor errors but I'm quite happy with the end results. Out of the box except for Fundekals main markings and stencils.
  22. I finished 'Daddy's Girl' yesterday. Here are a few photos. More in the Display Case thread. Thanks for following and all your comments and constructive criticism.
  23. This has been happening to me for the last few days...again. It's pretty annoying. I can post text. I can post photos. I just can't post text and photos in the same thread at the same time. I sent Steve an e-mail but no response yet.
