1/32 Navy F-4 travel pod- awesome! Order placed!
-
Jake- A big thank you for all that you have done for the modeling community over the last 17 years! So many great ANG decal subjects, and such great reference materials!
That's the problem with being good at what you do- you can't do it all at once!

Dave:
Any updates on when we might be seeing a 1/32 US Navy Travel Pod for the F-4J?
-
Is 72154, the RF-8 decal ready to order at this time?
-
Hoping there will be a good instrument panel decal to fit over the bezels and give some additional detail. Or, this kit will be a perfect subject for an Eduard zoom set for the cockpit and seat.

Back to the F-86A. Please! We have all waited for this model for years and Duncan is to be commended for all his contributions and hard work getting a correct kit of this version to market. I have worked with Duncan on the restoration on the F-86L at the MAPS Museum, and there is NOBODY better suited to supply correct information on the F-86. Period. His observations about pre-Korean war markings is spot on- there are many excellent early schemes that us modelers will love to have. Decal manufacturers release multiple schemes per sheet. No reason there cannot be both pre- Korean and Korean markings on each sheet. And hopefully many sheets!
Now the icing on the cake for me will be markings for this All Weather Flying Division F-86A

Any chance we can get a preview of the RF-8 sheet? (Need to know how many more kits to get)
Also anxiously awaiting the 1/144 B-47 release- what is the status on that one?

What a fantastic idea for a thread! Thanks for getting it started. These planes were viewed by millions, but many questions remain for getting all the details just right!
I live a half hour from Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland that has two F-4 Phantoms on display, one for the T-Birds and one for the Blues. (Though neither of these specific aircraft flew with the team). The teams did fly their Phantoms in Cleveland and I got to see both teams perform.

What are the chances for a 1/32 CNU-169A Travel Pod for the F-4? I will be building Cunningham's and Driscoll's F-4J (155895 NG-114) that I saw at the Cleveland Air Show after they returned from their Vietnam cruise back in September 1972. My photo of the aircraft and pod is attached.
To be correct in the loadout, I need a 1/32 travel pod!

In addition to the shorter tail modification on the F-102, new intakes are also required. Not sure if kit intakes can be so modified. The splitter plate is not on the original short tail intakes. The first 60+ F-102's produced were short tails. Plus, depending on the aircraft you are building, the speed brake design differed. Surprisingly, a company called Retrowings produced these modifications in 1/144 scale for the old (and not too bad) Otaki/Revell kit. I would much prefer to build it in 1/72 or 1/48 though!
