Plus the trumpeter helo classic of having recessed rivets everywhere, and mould ejection marks in really prominent areas

Excellent info, thanks!

Don’t think so - Snowman have stated that they collaborated with Takom on the AH-64 but will be doing their own thing ahead. There’s also evidence that Snowman’s AH-1W was going to be in collaboration with Academy - see the decals in the link below https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235132077-135-new-ah-1w-super-cobra-by-snowman-models/

What were the differences? Did the late introduce the turned exhausts that we see on the zulus?

drt786 started following CD32026 - 1/35 AH-64D/E Apache, Trumpeter 1/35 AH-1W Super Cobra inbound, Most Wanted New Helo Kit and 3 others

Had to do a double take on this one, considering that (1) while plenty of new 1/35 helos were mentioned in Trumpeter's catalogs, no AH-1s were in the mix (2) we were expecting a new tool AH-1W from Snowman, but everything was pointing towards it being with Academy. So, is this a brand new Trumpeter tooling, or is this the Snowman design being released with Trumpeter (rather than Academy)? Only time will tell. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/trumpeter-05116-ah-1w-super-cobra--1576571

So many that we really should have by now given their general presence in the media and/or across various operators. Having started with 1/35, I think that will be my preferred scale going forward. 1/35 Lynx (various variants) 1/35 Puma 1/35 Bo-105 1/35 Eurocopter Tiger 1/35 Ka-52 1/35 Mi-28 (hurry up Takom) 1/35 Mi-8MTV-5 (or whatever the updated nose variant is called?) 1/35 AH-1F/S

you can always go down the solder ball route if you ever want to question your sanity. love that we have another 1/35 helo on the market, but pretty disappointed by the execution. The fit looks horrible, just look at the canopy gaps!

SSR models do the 1/35 MP5s. It's long been my favourite looking small arms so couldn't pass on the opportunity to stick one into the cockpit. Couldn't find any conclusive references on how the MP5s were mounted/stored in the cockpit, but assumed that some sort of strap or clamp on the door pillar would make most sense. Call it artistic licence I guess! I've only just finished this one but am warming to the idea of eventually doing a current-spec MH-6 with the plank mounted MG, that looks pretty cool.

Thank you for the very kind comments! I bought enough rivets to go onto the SH-60b sitting in the stash, but seriously dread the idea of riveting that much more square footage compared to the little bird! The details were really the most fun part. Sadly most are not visible in these pictures, but the avionics compartment and engine bay were a tonne of fun to detail up and add scratch items to.

Thank you LD - your heavy lifting in the references threads went a long way in helping make it as accurate as I could. Many thanks! The kit itself was missing a lot of details - mainly in the avionics, rear compartment, and engine bay. The Werners Wings resin parts and a fair amount of scratchbuilding helped. Fit-wise the canopy seems to be an infamous part of the kit and my copy was no difference. The instrument panel/canopy interference was terrible and one of the fuselage halves was badly warped, so the canopy was truly a painful experience! Other than that it went tog

AH-6J “Barber 51” | Kitty Hawk | 1:35 This took nearly 6 months of on-and-off building, with lots of aftermarket and scratchbuilding going in. Aside from the kit, we had Werner's Wings downturned exhaust, AH-6 upgrade kit, FLIR, and decals. From Black Ops Models we had the rocket pods and M134 barrels. From Red Fox we have the 3D decals for the cockpit. Reedoak helmets and flight gear. Live resin flight controls that added a lot more detail compared to the kit parts. Tonnes of decals and 3D parts from Anyz to detail the cockpit switches, avionics/weapons/FLIR wiring,

Just wanted share a note of thanks for the Zactoman exterior set that I used on my OH-58D. It was my first time working with resin parts and really appreciated the detailed instructions and high quality parts. The MMS lenses and ALQ 'glass' also turned out amazing.

+1 for a foreign markings sheet, even if it was just a scaled up version of your 1/48 set. Am lining up a Qatari build (the best looking scheme IMO) and simply don't want to risk the kit decals!
