  1. You could start another group build with the subject being American aircraft poising as the enemy in the movies. Such as the F-84F and F-5 as migs.
  2. Thanks guys. This has been a tremendous help. I like the escapac idea.

    F-106B

I've got most of the sets already mentioned but one of the best for 72nd was made by baremetal. It was a resin piece for the spine and a new canopy. I haven't seen one since then but would like to get another. I've always wondered and somehow never got around to asking when I was in the 5th FIS, why did the "B" canopy have a yellowish tint?
  4. I've been trying to find pictures of the ejection seat cockpit for the T-2 Buckeye. Does anyone know what type of seats they used? This may seem strange or a waste of time but I'm thinking of using a blackbox F-4E set on the old (1972) Fujimi F-4E. It looks like it just might work.
  5. At Kadena there was a local who lived behind the base. He had a couple long barreled weapons pointed up and supporting a camoflaged net. Under the net were a couple JASDF F-104s. One of those would be great. Failing that a new chair like one of the pilots I used to work with had. Somehow he got an ejection seat, had it mounted on rollers and swivel, and equipped with cushions. Failing both those, a good model of the F-106B with optional gun pod and a TF-102.

    F-106B

    What scale do you need?
  7. When I was in the 44th TFS we were hosting VF-84. In preparation one of the pilots got hold of some of his gun film and had a large blow up made and placed under the plexiglass on his desk. It was a great shot taken from above and behind. You could see the F-14 in afterburner as the wings were going back and light reflecting off the top of the aircraft. On top of this was the F-15s hud showing all its information. Including the fire indicator light in the top corner. I wish I had gotten a copy of that one.
  8. For all you heretics out there I suggest a group build of iron maidens and racks. The scale is up to the builder based on how many partly built kits they have or they believe someone else has. I have several. Some sitting and being moved from one point in the room to another for about five years or so. How long have you had partly built kits laying around?
  9. For a different configuration...We used to get F-4s from Korea to operate as target tugs for our F-15s. It looked a little strange to see a Phantom equipped with a dart assembly on the left wing. This was done until Flight Systems Inc. acquired the contract and showed up with F-86s at Kadena.
  10. I saw a picture of he HIAC pod under an F-4 and it had only inches of clearence when on the ground. I'd like to see one too. Plus closed misilebay doors for the F-106 and 102 and cockpits for both. What about a resin bomb bay and tail gunner's position for the B-52D.
  11. I would love to get one someday. I still remember seeing them taxing out at Dover with one of the crew sitting in the top hatch behind the flight deck, talking to the pilot.

    RAF C-130's

Probably you're best bet is to paint them the same color as the 130s operated by the U.S.

    Concrete

I usually take some poster board or sheet plastic, measure and scribe the squares, adding a crack or two here and there, and then use a bottle of concrete or old concrete by Polly S or railroad colors and airbrush it on.
  14. On your way there, stop by my place. My grass is getting a little high. And my car can use a wax job. And the windows need cleaning. And my computer's dusty.And....
  15. No problem, if you need the info later, let me know.

    F-102

What about the TF-102 and the F-106B? I bought a 102 kit for 3.00 because it didn't have the canopy and bought the conversion kit for the family model version.

    Grumman S-2

I know microscale made a sheet or two some time ago. Outside of the sheet I have for Korea and Thailand, I just don't remember what else was done. Sorry.
  18. My references were from the time the Air Force flew them so it's just a matter of which branch you want to do. Did you have any ideas of what the back was going to look like on the inside? I have a copy of a flight manual that shows a few possible variations you might want to consider. If you're interested let me know and I'll get copies made for you.
  19. On all the A-1Es that I've seen, the rear canopies were always tinted.

    Fairey Barracuda

Welcome to ARC. I'd like to spend a little time where you are because half my family came from Austria. The other half is from Germany. Your question is one that I probably be asking when it's time for my Barracuda to be built. A possibility is to contact the company that made the Barracuda or maybe the War Museum in England. There is the possibility that it would be something similar to olive drab or field drab.
  21. You could try contacting the company the built the aircraft (or whatever their name is today,) or maybe the AirForce or Smithsonian museums. They helped me with IDing the aircraft in an old photo my father took in the late 30s.

    Hello everyone

Welcome to ARC! You'll have a great time here. These guys are the best I've found in a long time. If you need anything all you have to do is ask.
  23. Isn't that included in the Hasegawa sets? If you're interested in the external color, it would be yellow with relfective tape on the edges and corners. In hte 80s they started to switch to OD as the base color.
  24. Speaking of Johnny Quest, have you ever noticed the jet fighters that they use on the show? One was in an early episode and the rear half was a F-106 blended in with the front half of an F-16. Not to bad for a show that came out years before the electric jet was on the board. Still would like to see sixth column. Or maybe a live action Captain Scarlet.
