  1. MIKEIW I was curious because when I build mine I'm going to do an Air America ship. We had one come in with a blown engine, so while they were looking around for a replacement I took advantage of hte time to geet a couple shots.
  2. whose markings are you going to put it in?
  3. I was looking at the decals and found a slight error. The listed sheet for the 3rd bomb wing is actually the 5th bomb wing, last known by me to fly out of Minot AFB, North Dakota.
  4. Thanks for the information.
  5. I just got my stuff in a couple days ago. It took a while but they came through.
  6. Anyone know where I can get a model of a Gunstar?
  7. There used tobe a decal sheet for BUFFS about 30 years ago. If you're going to do a ARC Light , it's not hard. Basically all you need are tail numbers in red. At U-Tapao that's about all they had. A 3 digit number on the nose and USAF obove the serial number on the tail. Add a thin stripe of white down the outside length of both wing tanks for the reflective tape they had, national insignias in the usual places and that's it. Lou Drendel's "And Kill Migs" lists all aircraft that got a mig during the war. That includes the two B-52s from U-T. Hope this helps somewhat. Contact me if
  8. gun pods for the F-106 conversion sets for the F-106B/ TF-102/F-100F bombbay for the F-105 BLU-76 fuel-air weapon for the A-1E camera assemblies for the RF-4/RF-101c
  9. Don't forget to replace those way overly thick antennas on the top and make the landing gear round instead of the square thing they provide. There is also a grid under the rear tip of the fuselage.
  10. I remember when that kit came out. I was in school and the F-111 was still a prototype about to be accepted in its grey and white paint scheme. Years later, 1975, I'm at Sheppard AFB for a school and one weekend I'm walking near the maint. schools and find a couple F-111s and a A-7 being used as training devices. The A-7 had the same grey and white paint job. Good thing I had my camera with me.
  11. What about Heinline's story "Sixth Column?" You wouldn't need that much in special effects outside of the battle scenes and a couple scenes in the Citidel. For a Battletech movie keep it straight innersphere and maybe have Stravenski from Babalon 5 do it.
  12. You could try contacting the Kaman company. I did for information on the H-43 and I believe they also built the Seasprite.
  13. As long as we're on this topic, and before I do something that may not be a good idea, I have to ask...How much room is there on the tail of the B-52? This would be measured from the base of the tail to the edgeof the fuselage. I'm thinking of getting on the one we have on displayso I can get a couple shots of the tail gunners area.
  14. 1/48th Hobbycraft early P-26 with P.E. and a 1/48th Scopedog from the Votoms TV series.
  15. Loadmaster? I attended load school at Sheppard back in 75. They had some interesting aircraft in the hangers used by the maint. schools.
  16. I caught a black "D" when it stopped of at Korat in 1974. The number was 810 and I think that it was from the wolfpack. I'll have to dig up my photos and check.
  17. I even hate to ask what scale that is.
  18. I'm not sure that a BUFF could land at U-Dorn. How long was your runway? We had 12,000 foot runways and on occasions that wasn't enough. One of our ships took three days to come back from a mission. It had to land at DaNang due to battle damage. A sam detonated just below it after the doors closed and ripped off the back half of the left wing trank and left the fuel tanks leaking from an extreme amount of holes. I ended up working for someone who was there at the time at he said that the base went into overdrive to get the motor magnet out of there. According to him, they ended up with
  19. That's possible, I wasn't in the aircraft. We were very busy at Dover AFB trying to keep the base secure, chase the occasional reporter, and keep a Saudi C-130 aircrew seperated from the Isrealis that were bringing in 747 cargo planes.
  20. That's a nice clean design. You did a good job with it.
  21. A simple one would be one of the jet black F-4s they used to escort the convoys of transport aircraft we would use to send them supplies. From what I was told by a engineer on one of our C-5s, they would meet in the azores, head across the Atlantic, and somewhere near Europe get intercepted and escorted the rest of the way. He said they had no markings but were armed to the teeth.
