    mini guns

If you're thinking of putting minis on a Spectre, you must be planning on doing the early "A" model. They later were equipped with twin 20mm gattling guns and twin 40mm Bofors. The "H" dropped one 40mm for the addition of a 105mm.

    flying tiger movie

Thanks, sure is an ugly thing isn't it? Screws instead of rivets? What were they thinking? Sort of makes the C-47 I rode on look like luxury.
  4. It also looks a bit like a travel pod. Many fighters would carry a pod so they could taek their luggage and other material with them. The 106 carried one they called a coffin in the missile bay, and the F-4 and F-15 would carry theirs on a wing pylon.
  5. Isn't some of the contrail formed because of the heat off the engines? With that in mind, I have a picture from one of he pilots I knew of the eagles flying at about 60,000 but did not see any contrails from the formation. Any ideas?
  6. I have seen 111As loaded with clusters and mounting a black ECM pod underneath that had a sharkmouth on it. It looked good in its reventment with its wings spread.

    flying tiger movie

In the John Wayne movie "Flying Tigers" they had a transport with a box tsail. Was there a real plane like that or did they make it up?
  8. Thanks for the responses, they've been a great help.
  9. Except for the one or two cammo versions, the underside of Navy aircraft, including pylons, racs and stores were white from the ones that I have seen.
  10. I'm getting to the end of a SPAD build and after all these years something has finally occured to me. With all these colorful paint schemes, did they end up gloss or matte? I'm ding the Easter Egg spad from the 94th so I'm guessing that it would be gloss.
  11. If you need it there's a web site that has it. If you need it, let me know.
  12. They just released the last B5 disc, Legend of the Rangers. We watched it and enjoyed G-kar in the Grey Council room and on the Ranger warship. He will be missed.
  13. Everywhere I've been we used concrete on the flightline, I can't speak of the runways because I never ayed that much attention to it. I know at Korat they used large steel planks in the A-7 parking area. They were different colors and really stood out from the air.
  14. Are you sure that It's a "C" you're after? The 48th was a intercepter squadron. I was in the 5th FIS and we had "A" and "B" models the same as the 318th. I'm pretty sure the 48th had "A"s and "B"s too. Fortunatey, there's not too much difference externally.
  15. Thanks for the info. there are still a few things that I can do before I paint my aircraft. Sometimes it seems like a never ending project. Just to let you know, the 18th TFW at Kadena had been supplied with fast packs some time ago. I managed to get a couple shots of a 44th ship mounting the packs and with bombs on the wing pylons. It wasn't very common and this one was set up for an air show display. Previously we had been told to schedule the squadrons to practice bombing with their onboard systems. From what I heard, they did pretty good on the ground ranges, they wern't happy abo
  16. I'm working on that kit right now. There is a very distinct level difference at the wing roots. The only thing that I could come up with was to use a strip of plastic to fill the gap and applied putty with my finger to blend in the putty to the two parts. I'm just going to have to live with whatever the results will be after I paint the kit. I think I'm too far into it to do anything else. I hope the F-15e doesn't have the same problem.
  17. I cheated a little due to time limits and jumped to the last page. What about the Revell Yak-25 flashlight? It's an older kit with imprinted two color Russian stars but it's 1/48th.
  18. With the exceptin of the space taxi, the kits were issued in the late 50s. I remember building them when they came out. The moon liner was actually used as a base for a merry-go-round at Disneyland when it first opened. Disney, I believe also did an animated film on space exploration using most of the designs. I just picked up the old space station but intend to modify it into another science fiction ship called a glaisphere from an early TV show I used to watch. If i remember right the monogram space taxi came out in the 60s and was reissued in the mid to late 70s, and again in the 90s I

    Roswell

I know I'm going to regret this and I know many won't believe me and get some comments going but I have had a sighting at a base that I was assigned to while in the AiR Force in Late 1971 or early 1972. I was assigned to the 635th Security Police Squadron during Vietnam and one night a couple hours after starting a mid shift a call came over my radio to switch to the common frequency we used with the other larger flight (Tiger Flight) during attacks or other emergencies. Afer I changed over I started listening to Security Control telling the personnel on the other side of the base to just wa
  20. I'm impressed! What scale is the monster? I'll have to start saving for it. It my take some of us older builders some time to raise the cash. I'm also looking for the Jeff Wayne version too. It might come back out.
  21. Hasegawa I.D.F. Spitfire and 109, J.A.S.D.F F-1 and some paint for my Monogram Av-8As.
