  1. Sorry, I just checked my book on Pedro by Wayne Mutzurski and it didn't have any open engine shots. You could try contacting Kamman company itself, they should have something in their files or look for a old Tech Order. either on like or from them. A dash 1 would be the pilot's flight manual, it may or may not. Since I was not in their squadron, my only chance of getting a shot of the engine would be if they happened to it opened up on the days when I would get a permit and wander the flight line taking pictures. Most of the maint. was done in their metal building's hanger. When we sh
  2. Ok, here's a few things. Where did you get a engine for that? I never heard of one available. Are you going to cut out the grill and put in a screen mesh? Our version didn't have those type of seats. All we had were the bench seats and cargo netting attached on the sides. I never did look at how the seat belts were attached. Don't forget the piping in the pylon holes and a cable spool for the winch. Do you know where the supports for the exhaust pipe go as well as the support braces for the vertical stabs? I don't know what paint job you will be using but our c
  3. I found a decal sheet for the AMT kit that has been siting around for a while. It came in one of my re-release AMT kits. Overall it's in good shape except that it's missing a couple pieces. You can have it if you want. I think it is missing a couple windows, the stripe that comes down behind the bridge toward the impulse deck and something else, but don't remember what it was. The sheet also has the markings for the entire fleet of Constellation class ships as well as markings for the mirror universe. If you are interested, send me your address and I'll get it to you, no charge.
  4. Are you talking about the original kit that came ouit in the 60s? Have you tried federation models? I think they're in the Tampa area and they carry a lot of star trek items. At present you can order on line but they aren't taking phone orders. I have delt with them several times and had no problem with them.

For the aggressor squadrons the A.C.M.I. pod and the centerline tank. I think the amount and type of dummy missiles would depend on what the mission plan was and who they were playing with. You would rarely see three tanks on F-15s unless they had a very long way to go I have only seen three tanks carried twice, when the Shogun team left Kadena for William Tell, and when our squadron got in their ships. They came complete.
  6. I never use pilots in my airceaft so I have them sitting in a parts drawer. They are probably looking t escape by now.
  7. I remember them carrying the forced jungle penetrator vertically behind the side door seat. Outside of the fire suppression kit they could haul, that was about it. Even carrying the M-60 at the side door was only done a couple times.
  8. Maybe watch some band of brothers. I out my Father's parachute patch in the tin box with the dvds. My Father never really talked much about the war. Most of what I did find out was from his friends at the V.F.W. and the volunteer rescue squad we3 were both members of while I was in high school. One of the few things he told me about was being in England and while walking around town he was volunteered to drive a tank transporter to a certain location. Despite the fact he tried to explain being air corp, he had never even ridden in one before. He said that it's amazing how wide
  9. I just took a look at the great wall kit. Not for that price. I will be going with the kit I already have, put in the cockpit set I bought a long time asgo, and use my 5th F.I.S. decals. A much cheaper project and should go good with my F-106 kits and my Hasegawa or even Monogram kit. When you look at my shot of one of our T-33s, getting covered with ice, or compacted snow, what type of pod is under the wing? I never did ask anybody while I was there and am thinking of making one. It should look interesting next to a F-106 with a A.C.M.J. pod on its left eing.
  10. Thanks for the link. I'll keep these in mind as I get further along with gathering things for my next build. I think I'll have to get the shuttle bay detail set to go along with it. What colors did you use for the hull and other things? I'm most likely only going to one shot at this and I want it to look good. I had the Enterprise "A" but was too intimadated with the paint job and ended ujp selling it as the extras I for it.
  11. Quick question on something I just noticed. That strange shape on the support by each pilot seat, is that really a window of sorts? All the times I had to fly on those things, I never even noticed if it was open or solid. Guess I was just to busy at the time.
  12. Wer had a civilian company at Kadena flying the Canadair jets for target tow work. The company name was Flight Systems Inc. They were painted white with a blue stripe down the sides with the company name on it. Dart tow used to be done with F-4Es brought in from either Korea or the P.I. or they would use J.A.S.D.F. F-104s, but mostly F-4s. Eventually someone came up with the idea that having a civilian contractor would be more cost effective. Flight system heard about the project and immediately scoured the country and bought up all the spare F-86 parts they could find, effectively
  13. About five minutes after the launch you could hear and almost feel the engine sounds ripple through the neighborhood, and I was inside at the time. In the words of the ghost busters, "we're back!"
  14. Maybe not, but there were regulation changes to meet the new aircraft colors. At the same time Lt.Coe wanted to keep our squadron colors visible, and we were part of Air Defense Tactical Air Command and also part of N.O.R.A.D. I built several Monogram models trying to give the tail markings the new look he wanted. I also added the lightning bolt pilot and crew chief markers as well as the yellow discs and stars on the main wheels and the large 5 F.I.S. on the commander's aircraft. I think they put that on the exec's aircraft too. The aircraft from the 48th stood out because of the c
  15. Do you order these things on line or do you have a electronics store near you?
  16. The interceptor squadrons had the best paint jobs. The 48th was good too, but I still favored the 5th F.I.S. because the colors stood out and also because I was in the squadron in the 80s. We used our aircraft not just as runabouts but A.D.T.A.C./N.O.R.A.D. had us doing various things with them such as acting as enemy fighters to play the Canadian F-101s, our own 106s, and who ever showed up. They were sometimes used as penetration aircraft, mini supply aircraft, scouts, and other things. They were still versatile little guys
  17. Well. it went up alright and the first stage landed on its ship. As usual just enough clouds to the east to block the view. My neighbor was having a party and most of them moved to the east side of the house for a better view. Some said they could see it as they looked south toward the airport instead of east. A few others didn't even know what was going on and what they were looking for. unbelievable.
  18. I got a chance to drive one of them back when they first came out. When my 62 Comet was in the shop after being hit, the garage owner lent me his 'stang for the day. Much later I owned a 73 Mach 1. It got stripped down in my driveway and I ended up scrappinf it. Amazing how expensive parts for those things can be.
  19. As a matter of fact they said the blades could shatter in a sudden heavy downpour and in a monsoon there were times when you you could hold out your arm and nnot see your hand. One time I lost a three story barracks in the daytime and I was in the parking lot. I finally found it when they turned on the lights and I saw a pale glowahead of me. Sometimes rain like that could hold up B-52s and tankers from launching. Sometimes it can just form so fast it's on top of you in no time.
  20. One thing I've noticed about interior lights on many of these kind of projects, the lights shinning out from the hull often appear too bright. I have found a way to cut back on the glare by taking some frosted clear material and securing it over, or even on the clear windows. Another way might be to coat the inside of the windows with a matt finish of some kind like dull coat or something similar. I found a small supply of what we called diffusion sheet that we used to use when working on a light table. It's frosted to cut glare while trying to align film to get in focus. Sometimes it can
  21. Behind the side door seat was a metal ring that the forced penetrator sat in and was somehow connected to the cabin wall , probably by a metal strap with a quick release. The rear of the floor did drop down a little and had I think 3 rectangular doors for storage. The rotor blades were a sort of flat aluminum color with yellow tips. When I took my first flight they warned of how to approach the aircraft while it was running and that if it started to rain, we wouild be landing immediately, regardless of where we ere. The wooden blades couild break in a sudden downpour, especiall
  22. It appears that the ones I used to see at Dover most likely came from Westover in Mass. They stopped using them 1974 where thry were handed over to Vermont.
  23. You could always do ome of the Interceptor squadrons from the 80s, the 48th, 318th, or mine, the 5th. Their high gloss colore look good against the same grey on their F-106s.
  24. I used to halve to fly recon flights on the Pedro, Not always a fun experience. For its size it had a pretty good engine and lift capability but it racked you side t side as it flew in the other directions. At one point we mounted a M-60 in the side door, but that only lasted a couple days. We didn't want the crew to handle a weapon they knew almost nothing about and they didn't want us shooting the wooden rotor blades. Here's the Pedro I built using the Cobra set. There is a very large gap in the front on the cockpit that has to
