  1. I’d jump at an HH-3E, even though I don’t have room for one. Ben
  2. I ordered the AMP kit after seeing those great HH-43 pics. I’ve been meaning to for a while and the new pics pushed me over the edge.😄 Ben
  3. I see that Great Wall is releasing a 1/144 C-130H next year. Maybe some Vietnam era decals? Ben
  4. Great looking builds, Paul and Geoff! I have the 1/48 Aeroclub (or was it Airwaves?) resin conversion sitting on the Shelf of Doom right now. I need to get off my butt and finish it. Ben
  5. The Mistys were F-100Fs. F-4s were Stormy and the black bellied Night Owls, IIRC. Ben
  6. Probably fans started calling them that because their glow resembles the color of the green slime kids toy. Ben
  7. Thanks for posting your photos! I’d love to see the Me 262 fly! I guess their F-4D and F-100F didn’t fly this year? Ben
  8. I seem to remember they did a 1/48 G4M Betty long before Tamiya released theirs. Ben
  9. Welsh Models has been around for decades. He’s moving his line to resin, but some of his vac kits are still available. Wings 48 and 72 had some great kits, as did Karo-As. There was a company that made a nice D4Y1/2 Judy, I think their name was Aviators, that had some other good 1/48 subjects. Can’t recall what they were, though. Ben
  10. My dad and I built one of the Lindberg motors when I was maybe eight or nine, just to see if we could get it to work. Surprisingly, it did. I remember being disappointed that it sounded nothing like the B-52Ds or any other jet that had constantly flown over our house when we lived near McConnell AFB in the late ‘60s. I’m not sure how to describe the noise besides “similar to a sick cat.” Ben
  11. Thanks for the reminder about the C&H conversion, Gene! I'd forgotten all about it. They had at least two versions of it. The first was too long and had a weird kink in the fuselage, so they reworked it to correct the issues. There was also a Maintrack conversion that was pretty crude: LINK Since this thread first started, Reskit has produced some outstanding aftermarket parts for F-100s in all three scales, including drop tanks that can be built as 235-gal or the 335-gal versions. Their wheel sets look good. Hopefully, they'll release some early nose wheels with spokes or six
  12. All kit boxes have been opened, but all of the kits are intact, except where noted. All reasonable offers will be considered. KITS Revell 1/144 Chinook HC.1 RAF $20 Revell 1/144 Airbus A320 $20 Doepker 1/144 C-141A solid resin display model (no landing gear) started $10 Polar Lights 1/1000 USS Enterprise original series $15 Aoshima 1/24 McLaren F1 GTR Long Tail – Gulf $60 RESIN Quickboost QBT48498 1:48 F3H-2 Demon Ejection Seat w/ Safety Belts $10 Hypersonic 1/48
  13. Highly recommended! Ben
  14. Fortunately for those of us who don’t like the rear fuselage problem on the Z-M kits, Hypersonic has a beautiful correction for it. Thats a great looking F-4S! I’d like to know the builder’s technique for painting and weathering the TPS camouflage. That’s the only reason I haven’t started mine. Ben
  15. Great photos! Thanks for sharing them! Ben
  16. Sounds like the F-106 that kept flying after the pilot ejected and it made a perfect belly landing in a corn field. Ben
  17. That’s part of the Radar Warning And Homing System, added to many (most?) Vietnam based F-100s during its later time in the war (late 60s). The boxy fairing on the tail was also widened to fit the aft-looking antennas, and an azimuth display was added on top of the glare shield to the pilot’s left of the gun sight. This walk around shows the fairings well: LINK. This walk around shows the fairing without RHAWS: LINK If you’re building a silver F-100, it won’t have RHAWS. HTH. Ben
  18. It will be difficult to get from an F-4J to an F-4B/N. The wings and main gear wheels on the B/N are thinner than the J, and the cockpits are different, among other things. The J was fitted with wider wheels and so the wings bulge noticeably on and around the wheel wells on the bottom around the wells. The main gear doors and speed brakes were slightly bulged to blend with the thicker wing. There were a couple of resin conversions for the Tamiya kit but both were less than satisfactory. The J got the short version of the radar warning antennae later in its life. The ones installed on
