  1. My builds are finished... here is the 52TFW F-4G, 3TFW F-4E, and 20TFW EF-111A
  2. Anyone have a picture of the 2007 Thunderbird pilots at attention?
  3. I always thought and heard that VF-32 was known as the Swordsmen... when did the Gypsies name come into play and is it one of those squadron things or is it another one of those aircraft enthusiast or better yet ARC labelling???
  4. The mission is DACT... Dissimilar Air Combat Training... the F-22 has already flown DACTs against other jets at Red Flag and in Alaska and other unpublished lesser known training exercises. I don't see this DACT being any different.
  5. Is the 389th using the same eagle on the inner tails? Also looking at the 391st Squadron CC jets... the tailcode is shaded in a lighter grey compared to white wondering if ACC has mandated shadings to go back to white. I noticed the Seymour Johnson flagship birds also use the grey shading instead of white.
  6. It's amazing that the US F-22 force will only have six operational and one air national guard squadron. Compared to the close to 20 F-15C squadrons at the peak of the cold war. The F-15Es were introduced almost 20 years ago and have only have only maintained six frontline squadrons.
  7. The CBU picture looks like it was taken after hostilities ended because a PAVE TACK can be vaguely seen on the centerline of that F-4.
  8. During my time in DS with the E-3... "Magnum" was the standard call. The Iraqis also got to the point where they figured out that BEER call signs were F-4G Wild Weasels. So anytime they heard a BEER call sign (Michelob, Bud, Schlitz, etc...) they wouldn't come up at all. So one day it was decided a couple F-15Cs doing a fighter sweep would use a BEER call sign and the follow on F-4G flight would use the F-15C call sign of some oil company... ie Exxon or Mobile, the F-15C went through clear skies and the F-4Gs were able to knock out a couple radars.
  9. Well the old days... the tailcodes would of got all of you frustrated... for example.. the first letter belong to the base/wing E and the next letter belong to the squadron... could be A or B or Z...lol But its nice now that squadrons match letters!
  10. Let me see if I can explain this in simple terms. Most Air Force bases have one wing. Be it Fighter or Bombardment or Air Control ie 1st FW at Langley or 2BW at Barksdale or 552ACW at Tinker. If there are more than one type of aircraft the parent unit at that base will just be called Wing... ie 3rd Wing at Elmendorf or 18th Wing at Kadena. You might say the Wing is equivalent to a CVW. But the Air Force Wing is made up differently. Within the Wing is four groups - Medical, Support, Logistics, and the more visible is the Operations Group. Within those groups are the squadrons. Most Grou
  11. There were a total of 4 F-4Es from the 3TFW based out of Incirlik. Three of them had full sharkmouths, one marked with 3TFW and another 13AF. The fourth jet only had the tail number and PN tailcode.
  12. I'm thinking of getting a couple A-10 kits... is Italeri worth it or should I get the Hobby Boss one?
  13. What markings are you planning for that?
  14. The Thunderbirds bring two spare jets normally these two are the operations officer and the narrators D model and they normally arrive a day ahead of the other six... sometimes you will see them "slap" on the number on the jet. Over the years you will see the two seater having flown in various airshows. During an exchange session with the Blue Angels you will see two D models in the formation.
  15. I believe there are a handful of MiG Killing F-15Cs that were sent to Kadena as well.
  16. So let me understand this... there was the Viper Cadre Build for F-16s in 2005... and then theres this new propose build F-16s for 2008? I guess three years is a long enough gap.... ;)
  17. If you look at pictures of Operation Allied Force and Iraqi Freedom you will find that one of the better close in fighters - the F-16.... carried 4 X AIM-120s..... in Iraqi Freedom you will see some carrying the same 3 X AIM-120 and AIM-9 as the F-15Es... F-15Es going to combat archer at Tyndall have fired AIM-120s from those rail positions with no problems for a long time.
  18. Red Flag without a F-22 squadron does NOT diminish the training environment for our own forces... exercises like RED FLAG are huge but there are less publicized exercises happening all the time. The Langley F-22s deployed to Kadena will be training with all Air Force, Navy, Marine Corp squadrons in the Pacific along with showing JASDF and ROKAF units what the F-22 can do. Every quarter you'll find one or more squadrons in some training exercise. There will be plenty of opportunity for the F-22 to take on or fly with Allies. I won't be surprised if the next F-22 squadron deployment is to E
  19. Thanks but I have about every F-4G decal out there...
  20. Thats after I build a couple F-4Gs from George, Boise ANG, and Nellis.. :)
  21. I used my aeromaster Clark sheets and yes 1/48 ... yes Keith.. I realized I can make a 3TFS CC's jet by taking the 3 from 13AF and the TFS and AMU from the 90th... MiG Killer Clark F-4Gs are on the list down the road.
