  1. Just finished up last F-4E for now....
  2. Before I read the link that Murph posted- I happened to notice that in a few local newspapers - here in Florida they have posted an article (front page!) about aging US Air Force jets and even has a nice graphic chart of each major US jet F-16, F-15s.. plus the KC-135s and B-52s showing their average age and how alot are older than their pilots. So word is out there that the Air Force is aging.
  3. I am about to start my 1/350 Tamiya USS Enterprise - there was an article in late 90s Air Combat issue or if any Navy guys may know about the USS Enterprise ended up having to do Carquals sometime in the late 90s - I think it was before her cruise with VF-103 Jolly Rogers. The significance is that she had to do so with three different airwings coming aboard because the assigned carriers to those airwings had to hurriedly sail out due to a Hurricane. The BiG E was in the Carribean at the time. Wondering if anyone knows which three airwings or particularly the squadrons involved.
  4. Yes - thats what their F-2 is for! Of course they probably want to build these jets themselves - I can see the JASDF F-15EJ!
  5. Yes and based out of Incirlik Airbase, Turkey not Sheika Isa. By the way there was a black nosed grey F-4G at Sheika Isa.
  6. The US Military "fight" each other everday! Just to put things in perspective it depends on the mission of that squadron. Waco and Murph can attest to the fact that air to air skills are perishable - if you don't constantly practice you'll lose some of your edge but for some pilots it comes naturally and for others it takes hard work. When I was assigned to Kadena Airbase - the three squadrons of F-15Cs flew BFMs - Basic Fighter Manuevers, ACT - Air Combat Tactics or training., etc... and this was everyday Monday thru Friday and if there was an exercise - through the weekend. Once a quarte
  7. I can remember a study after Vietnam that in air to air combat no matter what color the aircraft is painted - its basically a black sillouhette in the sky! ... or as someone mentioned a black hole in the sky. The same study had also mentioned that North Vietnamese pilots were to avoid or be careful of the "White" painted jets (Navy/Marines) as opposed to the "Green" ones (USAF).
  8. I don't know if its been mentioned but the markings for that F-15E are for "Enduring Freedom" not "Iraqi Freedom". The 391st from Mountain Home AFB didn't deployed to Iraqi Freedom until 2004.
  9. Looks like Elmendorf's first F-22 acceptance comes out on Monday... I hope it has some color. LOL
  10. The Hasagawa F-4E 1/48 scale kit... older box with the Clark 3TFW Bataan bird on the cover has those markings.
  11. From what I read and heard this will be only for aircraft like P-3s and C-130s ... no fighter aviation slots.
  12. Reagan returned back in July of last year - with the 18 month normal turnaround on most cruises - will they still have the mixed jets when its time for the next cruise.
  13. Looks like Misawa F-16CJs and Elemendorf F-15Es...
  14. I can recall seeing them with Short ALQ-184s... though the pictures are distant.. the F-16s in background show ALQ-184s... the book HEROES 2 by Randy Jolly has these F-16s with ALQ-184s... they deployed twice overseas... once to Kuwait and the second I believe to Korat AB, Thailand for Cope Tiger. F-16D
  15. Its the 35FW Wing Commander's jet... took it from Shaw.
  16. Nope.. they are currently a 26th space aggressor squadron...the 18th AS will be the new aggressor squadron at Eielosn.
  17. Well havent seen one with Litening so shoot away.... but...would love to see pics of them taxiing or lined up with other units. They bring the 357 Magnum jet?
  18. You'll find alot of useful stuff on that site... even more if you are in the military as there are pictures that have not been released to the general public website.
  19. On September 6, 1995, HQ USCCAF issued SO# GA-32, which corrected the mistakes of the previous order. On the same day, HQ USCCAF also issued SO# GA-33, which added aerial victory credits for flyers not covered by the first order. The EF-111 pilots was not credited with the MiG Kill.... I heard it ended up being given to an F-15C pilot.
  20. Well when you get to Nellis - 13FS should be carrying some Sniper pods as they are next in line to replace the 14FS in Iraq. Would be interesting to see WW jets with some other armaments.
  21. Nope they NEVER carried anything but the HTS pod- I worked with Maj. Hanford who was assigned to the 77FS during OIF and also talked to Lt.Col. Dennis the commander of the 14FS from Misawa - also a couple crew cheifs - the 77FS and 14FS did not carry LANTIRN - again only the SC ANG and Mountain Home deployed with both targetting pods. The Block 50s werent tricked up to carry the targetting pods until after CCIP. Your pilot may have rotated in from another squadron - because 4 years at Shaw is a long time for an assignment. Colonel Mark Hasara currently a safety officer at Kirkland was a
