  1. Like I stated earlier... looking for a wide variety of Defense Suppression birds!!!! HARMskis!!!!!!
  2. Not just Phantom Weasels.. but also Viper Weasels!
  3. Greg, Your F-4G looks awesome... as an avid F-4G builder myself... I don't think you'll screw anything up by missing a stencil here or there... models and accurate representations can only go so far. Although its finished too soon for the Wild Weasel Build.. Id like to see you post it in there just for show. Berto
  4. Two more 52TFW F-4G Weasels with Clark F-4s
  5. I need to clear out this stash... so probably build one of each or four of each.. lol The SEAD STASH
  6. No ... Marine F/A-18Ds flew with HARMs during Operation Deliberate Force! That would be cool.

  8. This is the first time I'll be moderating and running a build and I am looking forward to some of the models that will be built. Please PM the aircraft(s) that you plan on building. Or send it to my e-mail at grtgaspie@AOL.com. Also any questions in particular. I want to thank Two Bobs, Afterburner Decals, and Shawn Hull for sponsoring this build! (staye tuned!) The build is open to all scales .. relating to aircraft tasked with suppressing and destroying air defenses. Although radar was first used in WW2 ... trying to take them out as a primary target wasnt taken seriously until t
  9. Like the previous posts... 1/48 HAS F-4G is the way to go. Now depending on what year your building the AGM-78 was decomm before the Hill Grey scheme was fully implemented. The only difference between the two HAS boxings is the decals...so get the cheaper one!
  10. As far as the 18th TFW... 18th Wing is concerned... The 18th Wings.. "Fighting Co cks" was adopted in 1920 ..it had to do with some major who ran the 18th Pursuit Group in the Philippines who was watching Cockfighting. And for those who look at history .. the color yellow as far as the Air Force is concerned stands for the sun. Remember a few of your fighter squadrons and other squadrons have yellow tailbands. So yeah theres alot of urban legend as far as the 18th Wing is involved! Second.. the 18th (TFW) Wing has already proven itself in combat.. when its squadrons.. 12th, 44th, and 67
  11. For some of you who have been to South Korea ... they use highways as runways as well. During the old Team Spirit exercises.. A-10s from Suwon/Osan practiced using the highways.
  12. Hey guys! Well hopefully the Forum will open up soon. I've was able to get three sponsors and working on a fourth for the build although I was hesitant to do that in the beginning. Bear with me as this is the very first build that I am running. That being said - what constitutes a Wild Weasel / Iron Hand Build? As you can see I added the marque "Defense Suppression Build" as certain aircraft used different weapons and tactics to take out not only Surface to Air Missile radar sites but also flew AAA sites. Something to remember is the first Wild Weasels did not use anti-radar missiles the

Your in time... as the Wild Weasel/Iron Hand SAM Suppresion build starts next month!
  14. The 3rd TFW deployed a total of ten F-4Es (only six would make it) for Operation Proven Force to Incirlik AB, Turkey. The journey started from Clark Airbase to Guam to Hickam to George to McGuire and then on to Incirlik. Four F-4Es made it to Incirlik and two stayed at Spangdelham AB, Germany. The F-4Es were going to be used with their Pave Tack pods to bomb and also buddy lase for the Upper Heyford F-111s and the F-16s from Torrejon and Spangdelham. The F-4Es flew a total of six combat sorties as they arrived in theater right before the cease fire came into effect. They flew AAA suppres
  15. Remember the successes were because the engagements were at the beginning of the conflict where no one had any knowledge of whats "painting" you or what to expect or where to look.
  16. In January of 1999 during Operation Southern Watch... Two VF-213 F-14Ds fired at Iraqi MiGs with AIM-54 crossing the No-Fly zone.... they didnt hit their targets... later Two F-15Cs fired AIM-120s at Iraqi MiGs again entering the No-Fly zone ... they didn't hit their targets either. Both F-14s and F-15s fired their missiles at the maximum range as the MiGs turned tail north.
  17. Remember the HARM doesnt need an HTS pod as they are used by other aircraft... other F-16s, F-18s, EA-6Bs, F-111Cs.
  18. Only the 3TFS F-4Es deployed during Desert Storm. Some of the Clark F-4Gs had been sent back stateside.. a couple ended up at Spangdelham and deployed as SP coded F-4Gs to Sheika Isa and Incirlik. The 90TFS sent aircrews to augment the 81TFS at Sheika Isa.
  19. If you look at the airpower summary thats sent out each day by US CENTCOM - it is a team effort... not just F-16s... but A-10s, B-1s, and Navy F-18s along with British Jets... Like football teams we all have our favorite jets...
  20. Wonder which squadron took him out! I know the Misawa squadron is being relieved by Spang so it will be interesting what squadron compositions will be at Balad this coming month. Looks like a successful deployment by Misawa's 14 and 13 Fighter squadron being the first Block 50s based in Iraq. Although they did lose one jet but otherwise cudos to all the guys on the ground and in the air there. It's back to northern Japan for those guys soon.
  21. I still kind of laugh about it since there was a study that up to certain distances.. no matter what the paint job.. the aircraft looks BLACK! The Air Forces F-22 fighters need just a tad of colored fin flash!
