  1. Enjoyed looking at these on CD as well... The Samurai have completed their 4 month AEF commitment to Balad Airbase as the first Block 50 squadron deployed in Iraq and stood up the third F-16 squadron assignment with the 332 AEW. Misawa deployed a mix of 13FS and 14FS F-16CJs including both squadron commander jets. The 13FS just rotated in for the next four month cycle and will return the jets back to Japan when this AEF ends. Looking forward to the afterburner sheet....
  2. Its the same jet... look at the crew cheif names! Thats a Block 30... the 80FS has always flown the block 30 but will be swapping with the 18th FS for 40s. There are only two brackets up near the spine and the HUD is the standard HUD.
  3. Squadron Commanders jet... the two seat aggressor jet in another post also has yellow names..
  4. Just noticed that the 80FS - F-16C frontline combat squadron in South Korea has YELLOW helmets!!!!.....
  5. You can call them action figures or dolls... the 1/6 action figure line has a lot of options. There is a female F-15A pilot that is being sold called "Burner". She's doesn't look that appealing. HOWEVER for you guys on ARC that absolutely want one there a very cheap method for you to get one like this! You can get the President Bush action figure for about 20.00 cheap.... it comes with all the accessories and helmet and survival gear and the G-suit that I don't recall being used. Then you can get one of the CY standard girls for 20.00 and just use the gear from GW. Or you can get th
  6. Korean War F-86 squadrons had the checkertails... Is afterburner still going to do the previous tails? I'm really don't find the checkertail appealing...
  7. The darker F-15E was sprayed two years ago.... still using the same testors model masters gunship grey spray can. So don't know why that one is alot darker.
  8. Yes... I do....not in view is the AIM-120s on the rear CFT pylons and thats why I loaded it that way... C- models flew with a mix load like that as well. THE LOADOUT
  9. Bad month for demonstration teams.... sorry if this was posted already http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,273832,00.html
  10. I created the other covers from thin styrene.. glued them on the jet then painted them...added the flags... the pitot tube black covers were scratch built as well..
  11. I believe 291 was also used as a Wild Weasel demonstrator with a APR-47 chin attached underneath the nose much like an F-4G... I had a couple handouts and also a big book from McDonnell Douglas that I can't find anymore which showed a picture of the jet. Wonder if anyone out there has a copy of that pic.
  12. My first F-15E was the 90th Fighter Squadron commander's jet using the repliscale sheet followed by the Superscale 11th Air Force jet.... now that the Misawa F-16CJ is done I am taking a crack at the 3rd OG Commander's jet - the Afterburner Sheet is simply outstanding! I especially am happy with how the tail band goes on easily.
  13. Of course you have the different outlines for the AF, WG, OG, FS commander's jets... I noticed the 52nd was using the lighter grey and a black outline.
  14. The Air Force has set up a claims processing center for people to file for compensation on damages for this fire. The Air Force and the DOD has always had a process for this - the Blue Angel F/A-18 crashing in SC... those people affected will file claims.. a few years ago here in my part of Florida a Moody F-16CG collided with a cessna and parts of the planes came down in residential areas... those people filed claims. When I was part of the crash investigation/safety investigation teams I saw that this was part of the procedures and checklist that the DOD has. There have been a few fires
  15. Weasel CAS is done... typical OIF 2007 loadout... 1 X GBu-38, GBU-12, 2 X AIM-120, and a LITENING pod
  16. From Captain Scott O'Grady's book... the 40s were at Ramstein and then went on to Aviano.
  17. Eddie, I thought about making a VF-1 revival also... but as VAQ-1 EF-18G.... but with the high vis Red Wolfpack and red band coming down the forward fuesalage... anyway excellant model.
  18. This is the picture of the actual jet flying CAS over Iraq
  19. The F-16/F-15E guys I work with say they test them out during preflight and keep them stowed until in-flight.
  20. Also of note is the LITENING pod is in the open position... I am debating to detail the seeker heads... I may replace it with one in the stowed position at a later time.
  21. Better view of the bad weathering... Of course in Iraq.. these jets are taking a beating.. maybe I need to add some sand and mud!
  22. Almost done... will add GBU-38 and GBUs... and a couple AIM-120s... The kit went together well but there were a couple issues I had - probably because of operator error.... the upper and lower fuesalage halves on the right side toward the rear had a slight gap and slight screw ups on the weathering... but hey its modelling!
