  1. Typical Tamiya short cuts, go all out on some areas and serve up the same old stuff as well and charge more. TC
  2. Lost power on the 29th soon after my last post, just got it back around 4:30pm today. No flooding at all but my sons Girl friends basement was swampped by a rising river, total loss. My Mother in law's house was hit by a large chunk of tree extensive damage to the house. It came down on the upstairs porch where my son and I had been standing 15 minutes before securing a lose storm door. Lucky huh? Spent today clearing the yard of tree limbs and leaves. Had a few small ones down no other damage. Will be buying a generator before Winter. My neighbor loaned me a extension off of his to keep the r
  3. I usually get switched to their Hong Kong bank and have a verified by VISA transaction never saw that message. You should ask them in the question area in the account section. they are very good about replying and addressing concerns. TC
  4. Storm just made landfall and dumb*** mayor of Atlantic City told people on the barrier Islands not to evac. Govenor Christie chewed him out on TV. Gov just told those folks its to late will have to send help in the AM. 300,000 plus with out power so far. Few more hours to go may come out of this OK. I was able to save my kits and even the instructions took days to dry out. But it will be an after market decal boone. I have some big trees in the yard that's what I'm sweating out. Got a $4 grand estimate to take them down couldn't afford that. Hope everyone comes out OK. Will invest in gener
  5. Well I'm 90 miles North of Atlantic City 5 miles inland watching the 70 mile an hour gusts waiting to lose power. So far 200,000 folks in Jersey have lost power. Irene floded a good part of my model stash in my basement last year but i never thought I'd see 2 hurricanes in 10 years let alone 1. So now i have to get a generator and pump before the next one. Everything has been moved to higher shelves. Just worried about the trees. Newark Airport closed. Its going to be a rough ride. TC
  6. I'm in central Jersey waiting for the show to drop or tree limbs. The rain is heavy and getting very gusty winds. TC
  7. The thing is Iraq is pretty much over as far as armor is concerned and only the Marines have tanks in Afghanistan. So we are preparing for the next insurgency? Thats the Army for you they have the system they needed 5 years ago all set for a finished conflict. Do they state who is the gunner for the system? The TC can't even see the road ahead to direct the driver or scan for IEDs, pick out targets vehicle positions, just not well thought out. The old M60 cupola would have been a nice touch, the M85 could hit point infantry targets at 900meters when boresighted and zeroed. Reloading was a be
  8. Also will buy the Kit when on sale but wouldn't pay retail. Come on LuckyModel. TC
  9. That Crows mount in front of the TC is just plain stupid. How can the TC observe anything to the front. The TC needs an unobstructed view around the tank especially to the front. What were they thinking? I TCed M48A5s, M60A3s and M1s I would not want that monstosity on my tank. TC
  10. If Sam Elliot did him any justice in the movie he must have been one hell of a soldier. Catch a good rest at "Fiddler's Green" SGT Major. Cavalry leads the way and God Speed. TC
  11. Well I got it 5 days ago and it is really awesome(word over used?). I may shelve everthing on the bench to get started on it. TC
  12. You could have an A1 unit meet an A2 unit. its called a passage of lines if the M1A1 unit breached the obstacle and was defending it as an M1A2 unit passed through to continue the assualt. Also units do meet on the battlefield to coordinate actions confirm unit boundries etc... lots of reasons they could be in the same area but not the same unit. TC
  13. Just got the word it shipped from Luckymodel today. Will keep you posted. TC
  14. One thing that would not happen is for a unit to mix M1A1s and M1A2s. They would be incompatable since none of the Blue force tracker or computerized como would work between tanks. It would also be a serious training issue and spare parts stocks. Battalions would be up trained to the A2 and converted over all at once. That doesn't mean one unit would not meet another in the field but they would not be in the same unit. Unless some dire combat emergency caused losses to be filled with what ever is available. Just a comment, your build is your build and in that case do what works for you. TC
  15. Found a link to a build blog with some great pictures of the kit. My link TC
  16. It was designed to breach the Siegfried line into Germany. It would definately play into a Wehrmacht 46 theme fighting E100s and Panther 2s or a Maus. Escorted by Easy 8 Shermans and Super pershings. Well the Diorama ideas just started to pop but the board will have to be huge. TC
  17. Dragon just announced another Allied heavy weight. The US Army T-28 is on the way 4 sets of tracks and all. It is on PMMS. Looks like another must buy for me. I saw it in Fort Knox at the Patton Museum, it has since been relocated to Fort Benning. Only 2 were built. All were thought lost when one was found in the woods on Fort Knox. At last we Allied modelers are getting some of the unusal tanks and prototypes that the German fans have been getting for years. TC
  18. I wonder if they corrected the issues with the M1A1, (turret to short) before adding in all this extra. In the past they just added stuff to inaccurate kits. A good ezample being the M4 Sherman which had the M4A3 hull and suspension. TC.
  19. Very nice work, 1/72 is quite challenging, especially if you have big fingers like me. I'm looking forward to more updates. TC
  20. Anyone else interested in this kit. It has that really odd look that makes it interesting. I am ready to grab it as soon as it hits Luckymodel. Also looking for the Humber armored cars. TC
  21. Very nice, I really like the color contrast. The crew looks good as well. TC
  22. This news left me truely saddened. I watched him walk on the Moon as a child of 9. A true hero to the world not just America has passed into history. Godspeed Neil Armstrong. I hope we can continue the legacy you began. TC
  23. It only takes a day or 2 of hard training in muddy weather to get a vehicle really dirty. They are washed quite thoroughly once they return to base, hours can be spent washing inside and out. Paint fade could be another problem. The National Guard equipment I used was stored outside with out tarps for years. M1 tanks had a humidity controlled set up that was hooked through the loaders hatch to preserve the electronics. Any way troops tend to walk on closed hatches they are pretty tough and for safety maintain 3 points of contact, they may step over things as well. I always tried to scrape my
  24. Last Summer Hurricane Irene hit had 2 feet of water in the basement. After the freezer, washer, dryer. furnace, and hot water heater got back in order I attended to the stash 40 plus kits were submerged as well as all my tools. Boxes total loss as were decals. I was able to save most of the instructions though, had them hanging on clothes lines through out the basement. It was mostly armor kits and ships, bigger boxes on bottom shelves that were affected. They are all in big ziplocks now. The high point was the grant from FEMA to repair and clean the basement. So I feel your pain. TC
