  1. That came out very nice indeed. I may try the decal stripe myself on my next ship. TC
  2. Did you mean http://www.modelwarships.com/index1.html, very good source for reviews. TC
  3. Airfix made a 1/600 scale Warspite but this is brand new. This website has a review http://www.modelwarships.com/reviews/index.html if you want to check it out. TC
  4. Any one else waiting for this one in 1/350. I always loved the ship and although its not the most detailed kit it is affordable with money left over for the aftermarket. List was $69.
  5. I live in New Jersey I was on the way to a job site (worked landscaping)and heard about the first plane on local radio, then the second. On the way home I could see the NYC skyline and the colums of smoke. It was strange at work the next day with no planes in the sky. I was with a crew that did work on the Coast Guard base on Staten Island that looked right at the Trade Center, just a smoking empty space. I had to respond to the attack on our country in someway so as a drilling National Guardsman I volunteered for airport duty when President Bush called for volunteers. My best friend worked 2
  6. If memory serves the gun was the only external difference since they operated in regular Matilda formations. If your doing an Aussie CS in the Pacific it would have the Aussie mods. TC
  7. I think the New York cab driver joke was much more insulting to Muslims. TC
  8. Great work, Iwo has a special place in my heart. My Great Uncle lost his life there with the Fourth Marine Division. I was named after him and Iwo has always been of great intrest to me. Again great work. TC
  9. K5IKL you service makes you a veteran, but to qualify for VA benifits you have to have served 180 continuous days. If your basic and AIT do not add up to 180 days in the VA's eyes you are not a veteran. It sucks but Congress makes those rules and most of those Aholes are not Vets. So this Guardsman thanks you for your service. TC
  10. Most hobby shops should sell black decal stripes, or model railroad stores. I have some in black and silver, makes good canopy striping too. Pinstriping might work but may be out of scale thickness. I would check the decal companies web sites, or Micro Mark the tool dealer. Oh and the ship came out very nice indeed. TC
  11. The United States of America to the best of my knowledge is the only country in North America with America in its name. Its not Canada of America or the Mexican States of America. Thus since America is part of our country's name we consider ourselves Americans. So quit the sour grapes act we used it first. We called ourselves Americans since 1776. I was a Tanker and a Soldier, not a warrior or a hero. " to you New Yorkers a hero is some kind of crazy sandwich"(Oddball) I honor and respect all who have served and are serving. Hey if the add said sign up and spend a year in Iraq no one would j
  12. DAMN! that is a great weather job and excellent build. That same kit sits on my bench nearly ready for paint. Did you use dry pigments? How did you do your periscopes? TC
  13. I hope this ship never sees battle. Remember what happens to aluminum in a fire it melts. Didn't the ships hit in the Falklands suffer severe damage with aluminum superstructures. Will we never learn. TC
  14. Very nice work, I just bought the AFV Gato 1943 and a Guppy 1b in 1/350 ready to join the club. They appear to be very nice kits. TC
  15. Not only is it a phaser but the skull is ringed with 3 Klingon Bhat'leths(Worf's sword). Epic fail on German news. TC
  16. Jeff I was in Fulda 77-79 went from Sheridan to M60A1 RISE passive. A trp. 1st Platoon. I drove A-11. Our 60s ame in in forest green, I sprayed the camo myself. I went on to crew M48A5s, 60A3s and M1s in the NG. nice t see a fellow Blackhorse trooper on the site. TC
  17. this had to be the best review, ROTFLOL. Lighten up. The pictures were great too. Darwin will know his own. I read some 4 and 5 star reviews by those who used this device successfully to change a baby while driving. On that basis, I bought one. I put my baby on it and drove for over an hour. It did not change. Same baby. I am glad it worked for some people but I will be returning mine. (The steering wheel desk.) TC
  18. I always liked the look of those 60s and 70s ships, have fun building her. TC
  19. As a retired soldier and current Federal employee I have noticed the the civilian vehicle fleet brands tend to jump around to what ever car company seems to be doing poorly. Guess what they are also buying multi fuel vehicles. We currently have a lot of GM cars. TC
  20. I wouldn't mind buying the ship but boy is my UPS guy gonna hate me. TC
  21. Very nice, your experiment was a success. TC
  22. Size(of the models) is my limiting factor and I have went with 1/700 scale which though small has a huge selection to choose from. My primary intrest is battleships and cruisers so it's not too small. I have gotten the Dragon Gearing and Tamiya Fletcher in 1/350 both very good kits. What ever the scale they all have fiddely bits. TC
  23. The advantages of the National Guard Did quite a few parades through various towns in New Jersey with M48s, M60s and M1s. Got to use the thermals. The noise of the cool down was really loud as I remember it as well. I got to ride and drive tanks on American roads as well as German roads. TC
  24. Having crewed, and commanded both vehicles I can say he was absolutly right. The A3s thermals were actually developed from the M1s. The M1 had the themal channel and day light channel in the same eye piece. The M60 had them seperate so you could go between sights. The M60 thermal channel was like a small TV that you could look at with both eyes and could easily use in a gas mask. The seperate laser range finder also gave the TC a higher power sight for target identification and a seprate system from the gunner, not fixed in the M1 until the A2. The problem in the M60 was that all the linkages
  25. The 70 might have faired better recoil forces would have been less stressful on the electronics due to the heavier weight of the tank. I had heard that the M60A2 was over complex whch lead to alot of issues but never that firing conventional rounds threw the missle system out of wack. A major issue was the 152 gun-launcher was only good to 1000 meters and the missle didn't track until almost 2000 meters. major gap with nothing to fill in. The 48A5 was very similar to the M60A1 or slick 60. They used the same M105D gunners telescope, ange finder, gunney computer(gear driven), and gunners perisc
