  1. OK I'll bite whats MSIP stand for, this tread head wants to Know. I imagine it relates to a type of upgrade like M1A1 AIM or M60A1 RISE. TC
  2. Thanks for the quick responses guys. I'm looking to model a current (with in the last 3-4 years) Oregon Air Guard Plane I saw a lot of them while I was out that way and love the tail art. I've seen the Revell kit for around $16.00 in the local store with the more modern exhausts. The decals are only available in 1/48 so I'm limited in scale. I was just on Squadron shop and they list the HAsi and Acadamy for the same price, $30.00. TC
  3. OK this tanker needs some help I want to build an F-15C in 1/48 scale. Who makes the best kit for the most reasonable price. I'm sure Hasagawa makes the best kit but also most expensive. How do the Academy kit and the Revell-o-gram kits stack up. Any and all advice appreciated. TC
  4. Thank you sir you are a gentleman and a scholar. TC
  5. I have always liked the Oregon tail art. I spent a month working at Klamath and really enjoyed watching the F-15s daily. Its a beautiful area. Does anyone make decals for them. I've seen a Revell F-16 with them but I want to build an Eagle. TC
  6. As an armor modeler I use washes quite abit and acrylic paint should be OK if the the paint has cured for a few days. I sometimes use a drop of alcohol to break the surface tension instead of soap. No I really put it in the wash. Though tanks need a heavier weathering then winged things. TC
  7. I'm on my second Dremel. This one has the speed control built in. All the new accessories are made to go with the new drills and won't fit the old ones so I had to upgrade. If asked by the wife I had to upgrade to use the chain saw sharpener nothing to do with models. The old dremel still works but has become redundant. TC
  8. I wonder how the HALO inspired film is comimg along. As a gamer as well as a modeler it could make for some great cinema. Or Hollywood could get involved and it could be crap. After Playing Republic Commando and reading a Clone Wars novel or 2 I think some good story lines could be found there. It would sure mean a lot of work for the actor who played Jango Fett. The books of David Weber offer countless great stories, The Honor Harrington series would be a great start. How did you folks like the remake of the "Thing" with Kurt Russell much closer to the short story. Great effects. The
  9. I got a 1/48 Academy P-47N, a IDF Magach 7 conversion with the M60 kit, A 1/72 Bradley IFV from Dragon and some 1/35 US tankers. All from Squadron. TC
  10. Today at Newark we had a C-5 and a KC135 on the ramp. I saw the C-5 take off. Usually happens when Bush or high official in New York. The limo and motorcade come in the C-5. TC
  11. Hey to each his own UFO is watching paint dry . No really I loved it as a kid but 1980 came and went with no moon base. I also realized some of the holes in the show which seemed extremely silly in hind sight. My bro liked it after all he bought all the shows. How do you feel about Babylon 5, that especially in later seasons was one of my favorites. I have an Airfix Grant on the table now some times the challenging builds are the most fun. TC
  12. Any way aren't Shatner and Nemoy getting a little old for a prequel. You can't image Shatners ego letting anyone else play Kirk while he is still breathing. TC
  13. My brother had the set which I borrowed, I hate to say it but it felt extremely dated. It didn't hold up well and was fairly boring. Things have gotten much better with SG1 and Atlantis to name a few. TC
  14. That stinks, I wonder how many they had to start with. TC
  15. As a side bar what about other Navies. I'm reading a book about the Marianas Turkey Shoot. The Shokaku and Zuikaku in English are Flying crane and auspicious crane, not very martial sounding at all. Famous people or battles don't seem that silly now. Though the Royal navy had some of the best. TC
  16. Very nice indeed I can't wait to see the finished project. TC
  17. Yes range 14 is a great place to shoot, got closed down by range fires though Sunday what a bummer, I nearly had my scope zeroed. I drive over an hour to get there it is really worth it, just like this site. Remember these from a few years ago. TC
  18. It sure is, I was on my way to Fort Dix to visit the firing range another Hobby. I work at good ole EWR Newark Liberty International Airport. I grew up in south Jersey and used to watch the 108th fly their F-105s over head. TC
  19. Wild Bill thats the one alright friggen huge. Its been In my airport at least 3 times. Usually at the Fed-X ramp area. Pretty funny an old treadhead working at an airport. TC
  20. Yesterday I saw a C-17 over McGuire AFB in NJ as well as a KC-10. I work at an Airport so Civil Aviation stuff all day. But every once in a while we get an Anitov the 4 engine not the 6, the Russian C-5 in. TC
  21. They are that good? I may look into them, save some money over Tamiya and Hasagawa. I wanted a late model bolt and another F-86. Your sure about this, Academy Armor gets poo-pooed by the rivet counters on the tank boards. TC
  22. Maybe Kirk will be a snotty on his academy midshipman's cruise with a LT Spock? Will it be called Spaceback Mountain. TC
  23. As far as naming them after famous people I think they should have at least passed away first. Naming them after living persons is a dis-service and smacks of sucking up. The America was sunk a few months back in battle damage testing. The Oriskany will become a reef in a month or so. Its cheaper to sink then scrap. TC
  24. It looks great, now when will it get to the US. I loved the old Captain Scarlet shows. I tried sharing some old Thunderbirds DVDs with my kids, they thought they were pretty lame. I guess they were spoiled by modern special effects. TC
