  1. Exactly. I wouldn’t, but it’s an option for those that keep begging & screaming for a kit that we don’t know will ever be produced by ZM or Meng. That’s their prerogative & I’m not holding my breath. And, yes, I agree about the HS slatted -E conversion set for the ZM early model. Jeff makes some really good stuff & I already have them. Well, I actually have three since I always buy kits & aftermarket in sets of three. The Hasegawa -E & G, in example, have the shapes & profiles almost dead on. Their slats are lacking but there’s aftermarket or some great scratch
  2. There are tens upon tens upon tens of aftermarket F-4G decals out there that you can use to make a good looking -G. The SHG & Afterburner sheets are a two that come to mind. Leading Edge are outstanding, too. Semper Fi, Masterguns
  3. To add to what member TheGloriousTachikoma advised you last month... As I'm sure you know, these days there is 3D mapping that can capture just about perfect views that can be converted to CAD files & so forth. You still must rely on the time tested bazillion hand measurements & today's ability to take digital photos needed to get the finer detail. In the absolute best case all you need is access to the 1:1 aircraft. Obviously there are hundreds if not thousands of preserved obsolete aircraft all over the world. The company just sends a rep to obtain the required measurements &
  4. it’s a well established scam tactic & huge red flag on these types of forums that when a “new” member contacts you asking that you contact so and so about your wants that it’s either the same scammer or one of their partners to get you to think there is a good or better deal to be had somewhere else. Report them immediately & do not send money! I reported them to admin last year but apparently the site owner didn’t hear action if they are still trolling these boards. They remained here even right after they were reported & continued to scam fellow modelers. FWIW.
  5. I have the OLD 1/48 Falcon vacuformed intake covers set. Anyone familiar with that set from back in the days? I think they were meant mostly for Monogram kits. If I can’t get them to fit the 1/48 Tamiya F-4B, does anyone know of other early 1/48 Phantom intake covers that I could try? I might have to scratch some. The new resin set(s) made for the Tamiya kit that have been recently released are not the type used on early Vietnam War Marine Corps Phantoms. Thanks! S/F, Masterguns
  6. Wow...no other way to word it other than an outstanding collection! S/F, Masterguns
  7. Hello, gents, I've been watching some Youtube vids on aircraft modelling, not that this wouldn't pertain to any other model genre that's plastic, but... I'm soliciting your methods of finishing your painting as it pertains to your initial priming, clear coatings, etc., etc. The whole process & paints that you prefer. I know this might vary widely, but the fundamentals I'm sure remain the same. As evidence these modelers in the vids I've not been using some the means they use. Like Gunze leveling thinner or the Mr. Surfacer primers or base coats. Laquer, enamel or acrylic clear
  8. Perhaps I just read past it like I'm know to do at time due to a rattled brain housing group, but where is the intel on this outstanding news (or past news?) on your FB page about this? Will it be a reprint of the Naval or USAF variants? Been a long time, motivator! Thanks, Jake. I hope you & yours are keeping well & safe! S/F, Masterguns
  9. Thanks, gents. I just looked at the Phase Hanger items, and if those items are as good as they look in the pics, then I'll be placing an order really soon & picking up the Hobbyboss kit. Do you think that PH covers most, if not all, areas to correct or add what's needed to make a good looking 1/48 C model? According to taste, of course. Is there anything else you can think of other than the PH stuff that could make the HB more detailed? Eduard PE? Current ordnance resin? I know very little about USAF specific aircraft equipment since some of their gear can vary a lot as when co
  10. Not sure where to post this where it'll get more traffic, so a duplicate post is in the Research Corner. Mods can delete the wrong one, please. Which of the above listed kits do you think is better? Or which one is a true A-10C OOB? If not, any aftermarket parts available to make one such? Do the intakes need attention for aftermarket engines or relatively easy scratch? Obviously these will be subjective opinions, however, does one offer any better detail or accuracy over the other? I've not seen either kit. Thank you for your help. Semper Fi, Masterguns

  13. It would depend on the timeframe for the individual airframe you're wanting to depict. The aircraft go through PAR at different times so it just depends. The entire airframe is stripped of paint & it gets a new coat during PAR. Squadron aircraft are regularly exchanged between various units. USMC & USN are frequently exchanged between squadrons-especially those squadrons that are going to the boat. I know the early models of the 60's almost always had the Corrogard metallic paint on the leading edge surfaces. Common practice of the day. HTH. Semper Fi, Masterguns
  14. I need the complete set for the exterior & interior bits designed for the Hasegawa TA-4J Skyhawk. Willing to pay via PayPal. I'm in the CONUS. Please PM me if you have the set to sell or know where I can secure one. I've searched online for hours with no joy prolly in part due to its age. TIA for any help you can provide. Semper Fi, Masterguns
  15. Still looking. I can't get in touch with anyone from Alley Cat after several emails. Thanks!
  16. As the title states, please. I just need one complete stencil data sheet. I'm in CONUS & can pay via PayPal in USD. Please contact me if you have one to sell. Thank you! Semper Fi, Masterguns
  17. I did this last week. Got a reply from a very nice mod but he said on Steve Bamford? had authority to ban apparently. The very first email I sent when this happened to me was the email at the top of the home page I assumed went to Steve, so I’m not sure. Let’s hope for the best. Semper Fi, Masterguns
  18. Exactly what is the site owner’s email? Apparently the email I used was incorrect since this bag nasty is still scamming good folks on this site & for some reason has yet to be banned. This p....y is still checking these posts & prolly getting a good laugh that’s he’s still allowed to troll. SMDH. Not cool. Semper Fi, Masterguns
  19. I only have one of of those SB conversions & the intakes with the early cockpit IP is a nice feature. But I think you can use that with the E/F because you do get the early intake conversions. I’ll have to look at it again because Darren produced that set shortly after the -B went “OOP” if I’m not mistaken. Either way I wager that it’ll still work with the E/F because those were still in production at that time. Are they still because I see them in web stores & eBay & only Lord knows how many are prolly still sitting on shelves in private collections & LHS. ANYWAY, I’ll get a -
  20. Thanks for that illustration. Now I realize the issue that would cause. I’ll just stick with the resin conversions from CAT4 & I didn’t mention I have a Steelbeach resin conversion to -B & a -C with the early intakes that I just dug up out of a storage bin for my accessories. I haven’t checked in a while the availability of those. Probably hit or miss & costly if I had to guess. But, having the actual Hasegawa -B Kit is more acceptable to my modeling skills. Resin conversions have not always gone as I would have liked. Especially since this hobby has been an infrequent luxury since
  21. Thank you. I’m pretty familiar with the airframe differences. I was hoping that I could just get the Hobbycrap -B nose to fit a Hasegawa -C. I’ve got plenty of the rest of the Hasegawa 1/48 Skyhawk family but I just didn’t see the writing on the wall & foresee the -B being the hen’s tooth these days. I only bought one -B when there were plenty to be had. In any case I just bought some conversion sets from CAT4 in the Ukraine. I’ll be able to make an -A & -B with a few other items that can back date one’s-C. I still want the kit, though. Semper Fi, Masterguns
  22. Sorry, Gents. I was able to secure two a few weeks ago. I failed to update this add. Thank you for all that contacted me. You guys are the absolute best in the Internet forums! Semper Fi, Masterguns
  23. The Hasegawa Mikes are still plentiful & less costly. The E/F aren’t too difficult to pick at a reasonable cost considering. I just picked up two Charlie’s for less than $75. Now the Bravo? We all know what those are going for & I personally think it’s ridiculous for a builders kit. That’s the beauty of our capitalistic society in the USA, however, but still very frustrating to say the least. I have resin conversions for the A & B that weren’t expensive at all, but I don’t like the surgery involved. You gotta do what you gotta do I reckon. Do y’all think grafting
