Howdy, gents Other than the F-35, are Hornets & Harrier II modded/capable of using the newish GBU-49? I haven’t built an F-35 kit yet, but I just couldn’t help buying the outstanding 1/48 Eduard Brassin set. But, I have Hornets & Harriers to build & I would like to include the GBU-49 in one or two of the kits (Hasegawa) if it’s an accurate store. As always, thank you! Semper Fi, Masterguns

Howdy. I have Wolfpack’s WP48041 set of the subject matter. The ATFLIR has its own specific mounting adapter. I have not seen any other AM for this pod or conversion set in 1/48 to fit a legacy Hornet. This FLIR is used on the E & F & the USMC A & C Hornet carrier squadrons on the port sparrow station necessitating the lack of fuel tank on the port wing. Land based USMC Hornets use the LITENING Pod on the center line station for the most part. My question is has anyone of you converted this WP pod on a USMC Hornet model that is in carrier markings actively depicting a carrier deploy

X number might be preserved at museums or what have you, but the question is are they currently in flyable or can they be restored into flyable condition. My dad (Marine Corps [naval] Aviator)told me this jet responded very poorly when throttle was applied-therefore it was not suitable for carrier ops. A very unique egress method, as well. No ejection seats & you had to slide down a “chute” on the bottom of the aircraft between the engines. Not exactly ideal in a dire emergency where time was of the essence. If that was the case you’re dead.

Thank you, Ben, Incaroad & Tailspin for the intel. That’s the proper, concise & pragmatic replies I was looking for. I wasn’t aware of Jun’s schematics. Thanks, again gents! Have an awesome week! Semper Fi, Masterguns

For some reason those drawings didn’t show up in my search engine. With fear of sounding like a space cadet, increase the ratio 50% to print to 1/48? Thanks again! Semper Fi, Masterguns

Hey, Ben. Very well. Fair enough, what your saying makes good sense that I didn’t think of. As far as the rear fuselage misshape, I use the Hypersonic resin correct sets & it looks so much more accurate. They really aren’t that expensive & are very user friendly. I get my Hypersonic merchandise in a week from Japan. Thanks for the info. Semper Fi, Masterguns

1/32 Kitty Hawk F-5E Kicked Up A Notch. Oct 3/19 Finished!

Absolutely stunning. Brilliant work! You really know how to duplicate the smallest detail where at all possible. 1:1 accuracy. Just brilliant! Semper Fi, Masterguns -
Howdy, wardogs! Hey y’all! At the moment I do not have the capability of scaling a 1/48 Phantom drawing & this is the most , best scale tank I’ve yet seen in 1/48. Perchance have any of you put the above subject fuel bag for the ZM series against a set of 1/48 scale plans/drawings to check one half or the other for accuracy in shape? It just doesn’t look right to my discerning visual scanners & my detail related, yet fickle minded brain housing group when it comes to scale models. And I’ve been a Phantom guru since I was eight y/o (my pa flew them for a couple decades).

Your model, I like, yes!

Thanks for that tidbit of intel, mstor. I was scratching my brain housing group on that one since I’d never heard of anything like that. Usually when an item states discontinued it means done for until the company decides to re-release, or not, in the future kinda like Hasegawa does frequently with a different boxing. But I digress...hopefully this Prowler #48044 will be released again. I think it’s the better kit of a he two IMHO because it allows the modeler the option to have drooped wing control surfaces like you would usually see on the ramp with the 1:1 without wings folded.

Thanks. Actually I bought this kit from Spue Bros. They are my go to shop when they have stock ready to ship on stuff I need at the time, rather than buying direct from an international source if I can avoid it. I don't maintain the Lucky Model method of operation since I always forget they exist. I wil have to bookmark them for future shopping. I didn't know they did the line. I've ordered from HLJ because I get my items in four days from them, which is obviously faster than some US vendors can ship out. It's worth it to me if I need something like yesterday. . Kit #: 48022 does not have provisions for dropped flaps or slats. It does have, however, have really nice OOB wing folds. Kit #: 48044 does & has a bonus deck tractor, but this particular kit has been discontinued & might be getting harder to find & we all know what that does to the price. I would jump one or two now. I think HLJ might have a few new old stock for around $57 before shipping. I purchased 48044 ago for this very reason. The two generally maintained the same wheels & hubs but they were developed at different times. Check your references bu

In case the OP or anyone for that matter is still interested in this intel, I'll spend my own 2 cents. VMFA-351 operated late B's for a Very short time at NAS Atlanta until the OV-10 arrived due to the vast community uproar from the locals about the noise Phantoms were creating in the surrounding area. This particular F-4B appears to have been updated under "Project Heavy Weight" (dropped ailerons, slotted stabs, bolting inner leading edge flap closed, buldged trunion covers over the main gear, beefing up & lengthening of the main gear, thus the need for the trunion covers in the first pla

Comparison of Black basing vs. Pre-shading
Gunny replied to Justicebringer's topic in General Discussion
Hold thread resurrections, Batman! I'm late to the game here. Just happened to find this thread by chance looking for another. I'm a diehard USMC Phantom Phan & I rarely have problems finding pics of the 1:1 Rhino I want to model between my vast library & my dad's old pics from his long time career as a Phantom driver. (when he can find them.) I weather based on what I see in the pics particular to the decals I have for that bird especially if they are in color. I don't see preshading as too relalistic when used all over the airframe. Postshading over a black base coat with various to -

-Geedunk in the USN has the same meaning of the USMC term "pogey bait," i.e, candy, fatty foods & drinks that can contribute to turning into a fat body. Extremely frowned upon especially in the infantry, & the Recon/Force Recon & Raider (MARSOC) communities where top peak physical condition is mandatory. Failure to meet decathalon type condition or fall out of something when you're not dead & you're done. Marine Corps as a whole because our very strict height to weight ratios & BMI standards are so strict that you can get booted out for failing to meet or maintain the sta

Gosh dern-it! I already have some of those very same seats that I ordered earlier this year & forgot about in my accessories tubs. I guess I should’ve looks in my A-6 accessories box first. I feel like a space cadet now for asking. A big thanks to you for your reply! Semper Fi, Masterguns
