  1. Hey, gents, #1 I find myself in need of some good cockpit photo pics, of which I have not located on Chrome at least. I know it was a simple design for the growing jet community but I want to start on my two Hasegegawa LE 1/48 A4D-2 purchased as the years keep flying by. Good cockpit pits are of need or very good explanations of what went where. Would I be use a left over Aires tub, sidewall & glare shield to get it looking the part? I could use the Eduard p/e to go for it. #2 is are there any decent USMC decals for this gem other than MAW - Decals VMA-533? I d
  2. Rah...I like the 1911 a lot, but there are so 'freakin many of them I can't keep track of them all these years. However, I don't think we used the Warrior. Isn't the Warrior the civvy copy of what we used in the "Great 87," (inside joke) the Kimber MCSOCOM IQCB. Note: I arrived MCRD PISC for boot camp before the official change over to the M9. The M9 was barely even selected over the P226 for simple cost reasons. However, as you know, us force bubbas scoffed at the M9 & continued to use the 1911 in various forms as our mad scientist pitsol & riflesmith surgeons at PWS in Qauntico twea
  3. I concur on the A model. The only possible reason I can think of why they haven't released one is having to retool so many parts for just a few blocks of American & allied users of the F-16A in various guise. Maybe it wouldn't be a very wise risk/rward venture at venture. The Kinetic A is decent alternative. The availability on those seems sketchy. You can still find Hasegawa's A & B models on eBay at builders prices. Aftermrket from shops & resellers all over the place. S/F, Masterguns
  4. Thank you for your service to your country, friendly neighbor to the north!
  5. Thank you. He flew the A-4/TA-4, F-16, F-8, R/F-4, F/A-18, A-6/TRAM, Harrier, F9F/TF-9J, F-11, T-2, OV-10, T-34, T-28, F-5, A-7, T-38, F-14, f-15, (in no particular order) & maybe a few others or some I cannot recall. He was an instructor pilot with NATC shortly after earning his wings & a Post Graduate of the USNTPS hence his varied mix of aircraft types post SEA. However I'd say about 90% of his operational time was spent in the front seat of a Phantom. Spent many months in SEA dropping iron & sliging lead & did short tour as a FAC with a line grunt battalion. First combat f
  6. I bet Tamiya isn't loosing money on their 48th or 32nd Vipers for that matter. The fact that they released a new tooled F-14A with all kinds of possibilities for the future is superfluous. I'm sure they have other models on the boards as well. They have to keep releasing high quality models of all types to keep customers coming back & to gain loyalty to keep the lights one. The purpose of business is to generate revernue. Their 48th Viper kits are still selling like hotcakes. I have two of every model & now have four Kinetics. My aim is Vietnam era - present USMC jets becuase that's wh
  7. Anyone have the above ref subject kit to sell? I pay using paypal USD preferably within the USA but am open to International if I that's the only means in which I can get a hit. Thanks. S/F Masterguns
  8. Thanks, to the gents involved in my search for this kit. I found three of these "rare" kits for $70 or less new in box. I really appreciate your assistance! S/F Masterguns
  9. Long shot, I know, but I'm in search of the above subject matter kit. I'm aware the kit has been sold out for a few years but if I can if I can find one I would like the most complete kit possible with the color cockpit photo etch & Brassin resin. Decals would be nice, too. Wheel Chalks arent needed but if you have them then I'm not going to complain. I pay via PayPal when possible. Reasonal price offers preferred since this kit will be built & will not be used for collection purposes. I like to come to a deal that's amicable for both parties. I am located in the USA. Thanks as always
  10. I find myself in need of the above subject matter listed decal sheet. I understand it was released or at least vastly reviewed in 2008. However, I'm hoping that one of you might still have this have this & are willing to part with it for a fair price or an equally worthy decal sheet(s) in trade that I might have out of the hundred I have protected in plastic sleeves. Much too many to list her of modern jets of USMC, USN, USAF (some Korean War & some WWII & Vietnam era Props to present). Just PM me. Much 'preciated, y'all! SF, Masterguns
  11. Is this THE Dave Cook from INANG formerly outta Hulman Field, Terre Haute I met back in '03 or '04ish via this site? If so, it's been a long time since we used to talk all the time on here & email, brah! Before I comp changed back to active duty from the SMCR & reentered into the war on terror in the early stages of OIF & disappeared from the modelling community & related websites predominately for a loooong time. I lost all of the pics you used to send me of your 113th birds. I think the sheet you're talking about is the Fox One example with the 113th ONW? I think that's the o
  12. Another interoggative for you wardogs. It always appeared to me that the US MIL Vipers cockpits were more than a tad shade lighter than the modern standard dark gull gray FS3623. I believe their ACES are light gray FS36495 differ from the rest of the cockpit. Of course, age, wear & tear & various other conditions play a role in Cole variations, so what would be a average starting point or just apply some artistic license? Sound off. Semper Fi, Masterguns
  13. Thank you for the knowledge, jmel. I snatch & grabbed your Heritage Vipers sheet from Sprue Bros last night with another Tamiya blk 25/32, Aires cockpit, Eduard color etch & Brassin Pratt & Worthless resin exhaust. The Blacknsakes markings to which I'm certain will be much better than that Superscale sheet I have plus I like the Swap Fox bird's markings as well. I can change out the IN code with some spare "FW" markings from that SS set & fiddle with the S/N to match one that participated in OIF. Thanks putting out your books as well as the decals. Semper Fi,
  14. Ok...Just read that Turkey didn't permit flight flights from their airfields when OIF kicked off. So soon I forget. So, the 113th was the last ANG squadron to fly an ONW sortie before OIF combat. Apparently they never returned to theater for ops, but 163rd did a few times in their blk 25's. I will be building a Fort Wayne Blacksnake then. Glad I raided Sprue Brothers of all things 1/48 Tamiya F-16 resin/etch/metal/decals in all blocks for these 'lil gems. That was an exhausting process trying to learn this F-16 block phenomenon! Keep any intel you might have on the 163rd during OIF that I can'
  15. I noticed that my Fox One has a 113 FS OIF combat deployment & I've got some older SS sheets with 163 FS when they were the Marksmen. When the 163 FS picked up their blk 30's & changed to the IN tail code did they get a chance to squeeze in deployment? Did 113 FS get any time away with blk 30's? Thus far I'm not finding much on F-16.net on these two squadrons. I'm still on a recon over there. Thanks. Semper Fi, Masterguns
  16. Thanks, Niels! Admiralcag: I'll be using the F-16C/N kit as a base so no surgery will be required. It has both inlets & the "Pratt & Worthless" & GE cans. That kit has what I need, however, I'll be using Eduard/Brassin/Aires aftermarket for the added resin/etch cockpit, engine, weapons, wheel & pod details anyway. Adding metal pitot, aoa & static dischargers & struts. I've not yet built one of the little Vipers but I've heard nothing but praise about Tamiya's 1/48 F-16 family. If this one goes well I'll build the the SCANG blk 52. Semper Fi, Masterguns
  17. Howdy, y'all! (1/48 scale with regard to OIF & OEF) I know INANG doesn't fly Vipers now. I don't usually build USAF jets, however, I've always been an admirer of the Viper. Who has pics/intel on any big or small mouth GE powered block 30 163rd and/or 113th FS? Any dates with whichever blocks or S/N would be nice, as well. I'm having trouble compiling the intel think I need to accurately build one of these 'lil Tamiya Vipers I've heard so much awesomeness about lately. I have some old Fox One & Superscale decals that I can fiddle with if I need to get the correct markin
  18. Thanks, jmel. I absolutely love your books. Top notch reference indeed. Stalal, I'm inquiring about the NASWC Vipers as they are currently in service at NAS Fallon. Not as the others have been modded for service finally with the PAF. Do you have knowledge about the USN Adversary F-16As currently in service out west? Thanks to you both. Semper Fi, Masterguns
  19. Habu? I think I remember your moniker from years ago as the go-to guy for Viper tech, ya? I've only been on here sporadically since before I first found before I joined until now. So, what's the deal with the Tamiya panel lines? I'm not really interested USAF subjects except for the old Top Gun & current NSAWC Vipers (and F-5E), but I don't have a clue about the lines. I presume the Hasegawa kit is more accurate with the lines? Further, using an A model aftermarket resin/etch, depending on brand, of course, for the Hasegawa A might get me close enough for an OCU, in your opinion?
  20. I agree ref the parts of the Tamiya Viper. I wanted to use the Tamiya due to it being the superior kit collectively using the earlier block type parts from the Thunderbird parts while stealing a tail from one of my Hasegawa A models. I guess I could just make it easier on myself & use the Hasegawa A & the Aires A pit with Eduard PE that I think I might already have at the bottom of one my stashes. I just like the Tamiya Vipers because of the tech that has gone into the newer kits. Thanks. Semper Fi, Masterguns
  21. Yes the first USN F-16N's used in the 80's at the old "Top Gun" at the then NAS Miramar were Block 30's, but the one's introduced at NSAWC Fallon in 2002 were basically A/B's, correct? I'm trying to figure out the most correct cockpit...resin or PE or both to use in a 1/48 Tamiya or Hasegawa as a second choice to build. Would you have a recommendation? I primarily use Aires tubs & apply color Eduard PE over scraped off resin control panels. Sometimes I'll use whatever else brand I find is more accurate. Thanks. Semper Fi, Masterguns
  22. With regard to the current USN NSAWC F-16N aggressors since 2002, which had been slated for the Pakistani Air Force as F-16A's (which they actually are) before the embargo & then put back into storage after we cancelled the sale. I think they are Block 15? That said, which cockpit config do they have? The original USAF F-16A cockpit or were they upgraded...kind of like the European MLU A models? I can't remember if these were refurbished A's from AMARC & sold to Pakistan (12 A & 4 B) from there. Anyone have prompt, concrete answers to this? Thank you. Semper Fi, Maste
