  1. Got a new job that puts me overseas alternating 6-8 months out of the year so I rarely get the chance to work on it.
  2. Here's a more detailed version of that build from the site of origin, this is what inspired me to build mine.....if only I could get around to finishing it. http://www.mksmc.co.uk/reviews/revell_ch53.htm
  3. The is the Revell one so far, I did a dry fit to show how it's gonna look, I haven't had much time to continue it, so pardon the dust. I have yet to start the Academy version, but when I do, you can be sure there will be pics.
  4. I'm currently to doing the same "What if" project. Well, 2 of them, Based on both the Revell and the Academy versions. The Revell version has scratch built I/R supressors on it. The Cobra Co. Pave Low Conversion will fit the Academy CH-53E with a bit of work, but not much more than the work required to fit it on the Revell kit it was made for. Do keep in mind that the dimensions of Academy kit seem a tad smaller scale wise than the Revell version. So be prepared for a lot of sanding and puttying. As fr the Cobra Co. cockpit conversion, I didn't get a chance to dry fit it as I was already fin
  5. I was over in the borough of Greenfield in SE Pittsburgh building a deck for a client when at about noon I see, unless my eyes deceived me, a B-29 flying rather low (about 1000-1500 ft.) heading south. If I remember correctly, the rudder on the rear stabilizer was blue and yellow striped. I know there was an air show recently. I was wondering if anyone else on here who may live in the pittsburgh area happened to see it? Shame it was one of those rare moments when I didn't have my trusty digicam. I almost flipped when I saw it, I'd never seen one in real life much less in flight outside of TV
  6. You have no idea my friend, Almost 2 tubes worth went into that, half a tube just to construct the exhausts.
  7. Now for the other choppers, please keep in mind that these are intended to be fictional so I threw accuracy out the window. A pair of MH/AH-6 Little Birds and an attack variant of the HH-65/Z-9G. The mast mounted sight on the HH-65 is the FLIR turret from the Academy CH-53, Another angle, in retrospect, I wish I had been more patient on the build-up of the HH-65... My 95% complete doorless medium transport version of the HH-65 with .50 cals swiped from the Cobra Co. Pave Low weapons kits mounted on either side. The FLIR unit was swiped from the Z-9G because I swapped the Z-9's cockpi
  8. I figured it would be best to repost this in this forum plus I figured I'd add some pics of the choppers part of my BlackOps theme build.. In alot of the pics, you'll notice that all the rivet details have been sanded away, that was intentional. I'm going for a smoothed out compsite, "stealthy" look as though the Pave Low were re-engineered with a monocoque airframe. The landing gear is retractable... Landing gear up.... .....landing gear down! Here's the somewhat detailed interior, not the most accurate but I didn't have much to work with paint wise. I don't know if you can see
  9. Actually this is my "M" model, I mistakely typed it as the "N", the "N" model I'm going to build is based on the Academy 1/48th Marine CH-53 "ECHO".
  10. I used the Hasegawa 1/48th AF ground crew, some of the figures had to be altered using a small torch to get the right positions for the gunners.
  11. Unfortunately no, didn't have a camera at the time.
